-10 years ago-

Matt looked at his phone, a text from Ryder came through.

-what time is your soccer game today-

Matt smiled, butterflies swirled in his stomach at just the thought that Ryder wanted to come out and support him at the game.

-3, you coming?"

-Ill get there late but I'm taking you out to celebrate the win after-

Matt and Ryder have been seeing each other for just a little over a few weeks now. Mostly just talking and hanging out. They decided to take things slow get to know each other first.

Matt told him all about his family, Matt thought back to the first day they hung out and his parents and brother were just waiting to ambush him about his school choices.

Matt sinks back into that past day-

"Matthew you need to think long and hard about the choices your making." Celine said with her arms folded on her lap.

William stood with his arms crossed.

"How does this look on our family! We are a respected members of this town."

Matt just stood there while his parents took turns drilling into into what they believe he should be doing with his life.

Doctor, attorney, even a dentist was all acceptable.

"I'm going to Welding school, it's what I want to do." Matt said as calm as possible.

"No the fu*k your not Have you not understood a word we just said." William took a large step closer toward his son.

"William.." Celine whispered.

"Enough of this s**t Matt! Your going to do what we god-damn tell you to do!" William roared.

Matt knew better then to agure with his dad when he was this angry. So he just sat there in silence.

"You hear me boy!" Answer me!" William grabbed ahold of Matt's shirt and gave it a violent shake.

Matt eyes glanced at his mom, who quickly put her head down and then to his brother who he could of swore had a slight smirk on his face.

" William thats enough!" Sarah loud command echoed through the living.

Matt didn't even notice the front door opening and Sarah coming in but she couldn't have had better timing. Matt was never worried about his parents firing her they both knew how much Sarah had on them.

William had a look in his eyes that was equivalent to fire. But his grip losesnd, and reluctantly let go of Matt's collar.

"Get out of my face."William spat out his threat.

Matt didn't hesitate for a second he jumped up and followed Sarah into the kitchen.

"You alright." Sarah asked fixing Matt shirt.

"Yeah, it was all about school." Matt explained.

Sarah just nodded. "How about I fix you a sandwich before you go to Justin's." Sarah already knowing that Matt will probably disappear to Justin's for a couple days.

"Sure thanks Sarah."

Matt is snapped out of this thoughts at the vibration of his phone.

-hey Jenny and I are gonna be able to come to your game-

Matt went numb, so far he's been pretty good and keeping Ryder separate from his life with Justin and Jenny he wasn't ready to face that yet.

-its like 45 mins away, why don't u to go to a movie or something we can meet up later-

-oh ok-

Matt felt guilty, he wasn't trying to push them away if anything he wanted them apart of his new life so bad he just wasn't ready to tell them he's gay yet.

Matt took the rest of the day easy, in the past he and his grandpa would head out and go for a walk and a light lunch before all his games. Matt didn't feel right doing those things without his grandpa there.

Matt got to the field they were playing at. He spotted a couple of his teammates stretching, he waved.

Matt went hard into the game, he played with a fire in his belly. Maybe it came from a sadness and anger that he knew his grandpa wasn't sitting out in the field in his favorite blue chair he brought to every game.

"Alder, your on fire today good job!" Matt's coach patted his back.

As the game was near the end, Matt glanced over and spotted Ryder standing under a tree leaning against it staring intensely at the game.

Matt wondering how long he had been there.

The final whistle blew, and Matt teams held the game by 4. His teammates asked him to join for pizza but he politely declined.

" Hey!" Matt jogged over to Ryder.

"You looked great out there." Ryder pulled Matt behind the tree.

Ryder went in for a kiss, Matt knew he hesitated for a second and looked around.

"Can I kiss my boyfriend?" Ryder asked sarcastically.

Matt smirked and pulled Ryder shirt and brought them closer and ran a soft kiss against his lips.

"I left my keys on the bench let me run and grab them we can get out of here."

Matt quickly grabbed his keys out of the bucket his coach brings to the game for the players.

Matt headed back toward Ryder, who was already walking toward him.

"Matt!"

Matt froze, he quickly turned around and Jenny and Justin were walking over to him.

" Good game!" Jenny hugged him.

" I didn't even know you were here, I didn't see you."Matt quickly rambled on.

" Yeah after the game it got crazy we looked everywhere for you we thought you left but your car was still here." Jenny said.

"Is that Ryder Cruz?" Justin asked as Ryder approached them.

" What are you doing at a soccer out here?" Justin asked.

Ryder looked over at Matt, and Justin's eyes immediately found Matt as well.

"My cousin is on the opposite team I came out here to watch." Ryders tone sounded believable.

"I recognized Mattie here from fixing his car a while back." Ryder continued.

"Oh, that's right I forgot about that." Jenny laughed.

"We were gonna take Matt out to lunch. you should come." Jenny offered.

Matt gave Ryder a apologetic look.

"I tried this great Taco place a few weeks ago, Taco Shack, we should go there." Ryder sly smile crept on his face.

Justin and Jenny both looked directly at Matt.

" Interesting that's Matt's favorite place." Jenny said suspiciously.

" Oh that is interesting." Ryder replied looking over at Matt.

"I'll follow you guys." Ryder said.

Matt hoped in his truck, and put his head on the steering wheel. He knew Ryder was tried of hiding there relationship and he didn't blame him. He just wanted to tell Justin and Jenny at the right time.

Matt pulled into Taco Shack, with Justin and Jenny right behind him and Ryder behind them.

Everyone got out, " You two go find a seat. Me and Matt can order." Justin said.

"What the hell is going on?" Justin whispered.

" What do you mean?" Matt tried to ask surprised by his question.

Before Justin could say anything more they were at the window.

Daisy smiled. "Hey guys."

"So just you three today or is your hunky friend back too?" Daisy teased.

Matt stood frozen.

" Who?" Justin asked.

" Ryder Cruz, he's a hunk Matt." Daisy started writing there order down without even needing them to tell her.

" Yeah, we need a extra one today." Matt said. Daisy just nodded without looking up.

Justin pulled Matt's selve into the side of the Taco truck.

" I'm not ready to tell Jenny yet." Matt met his friends surprised eyes.

" Holy shit." Justin breathed so slow you almost didn't hear it.

"Matt.." Justin still whispering.

" Hey we're did you to go you gotta pay still." Daisy joked.

" Sorry Daisy, keep the change." Matt walked back over to the window and paid her.

" How long?" Justin asked.

" Depends the question." Matt said.

" How long have you known." Justin voice was robotic.

" Kinda figured it out around 12 I guess." Matt met his friends hurt look.

" You never told me." Justin voice had the most hurt tone.

" I'm sorry..I was just scared."

" Of what! I'm your best friend!" Justin demanded.

" You know what give Jenny a ride home, I got to go." Justin voice rose.

" Justin please stay!" Matt tried grabbing Justin's arm but he shrugged his grip off and stormed off.

There was awkwardness at the table after Matt tired explaining Justin's absence. Matt knew Jenny knew he was lying about something. Matt dropped Jenny off afterwards and she barely spoke a few words the whole time.

immediately after Jenny got into her house she texted Matt.

-What the hell is going on? with you and Justin and you always blowing us off the last could weeks?!-

Matt just sat in her driveway, not knowing what to do or say to her.

-meet me at Justins- Matt texted Jenny back.

Matt had to make this right.
