Chapter 10: Lovers or Enemies

The private jet landed in London, and the sky above was blanketed in gray clouds, almost like a reflection of the emotional storm brewing in Zara’s heart. She clutched her phone tightly, the folder filled with evidence felt like a heavy secret she wasn’t ready to share just yet. When she entered the VIP lounge, Damian was already there, waiting for her. He had that calm yet unreadable expression on his face, almost like a wall. “Show me,” he said quietly, getting straight to the point without any small talk. Zara took a deep breath as she opened the files, revealing the emails and the videos. She watched as his expression darkened when the truth began to sink in. “So Segun’s the one pulling the strings,” he murmured, realization hitting him. “He’s using Tari and Amara like pawns.” Zara nodded in agreement, feeling the sting of betrayal settle in her chest. “They’re trying to tear us apart. To destroy everything we’ve worked for.” The air between them was thick with unspoken words, almost like they were in their own bubble of silence. We take Segun down and put an end to this mess,” she explained. He paused, the weight of their past hanging heavily between them. “After everything that’s happened, why should I believe you?” Zara’s voice was steady and honest. “Because this fight is going to take both of us. And because… I still have faith in us.” Damian got up and started to pace, clearly restless. “I was ready to let it all go,” he said, admitting how far he was willing to retreat — leaving everything behind, including her. Zara stood up too, moving a bit closer, her eyes ablaze with intensity. “Don’t walk away just yet.” He paused and looked right at her — really looked, as if he was seeing her for the first time in a long time. “Then let’s do this,” he said, his voice calm but with a sense of determination. “Together.” Their handshake was firm, a wordless promise passing between them. In that moment, the tension that hung in the air between them eased, turning into something delicate—hope. The weeks that followed felt like a whirlwind—filled with boardroom meetings, press releases, and secret strategy sessions. Piece by piece, they worked on rebuilding trust while also restoring their empire—not just stronger but also smarter, standing united. But even as they forged ahead, Segun’s shadow loomed large, and it was clear their real battle had just begun. —
