Let the games begin

1019 Words
Lyra's POV I get out of bed and immediately regret getting up. It feels like I have been hit by a train. I swear there isn't an inch of my body that does not hurt. Last night, I studied, and when I got up to make myself a salad, the kitchen looked like something out of a horror movie. If they think I am going to clean it up, they are mistaken. I do a few stretches to loosen up my muscles. Damn, I am really unfit! Today is the day that everything starts. Yesterday was a practise run. I walk into the kitchen, looking like a hurricane came through it, but I ignore it and grab an apple. I have stuffed my training clothes in my backpack. I am not going to be home early tonight. I do not care what my family thinks. They only miss me when I am not there to do the homework and cook anyway. They will have to learn to do it without me. I have other things to do. I take the bus to school today. My body aches, but in a good way. I know it will hurt more tomorrow, but as the saying goes: no pain, no gain. I am ready to change. Seb and I have agreed not to have too much contact at school. After all, we want everyone to be surprised when I am fit and healthy, and Seb is getting at least Bs. I am his secret tutor, and he is my secret trainer. I just thought of something earlier. I will have to get myself a fat suit. As I lose weight, I do not want anyone to know until I am ready to let them know and surprise all of my bullies. As I walk down the hall at school, someone trips me. I fall flat on my face, and everyone laughs. I get up. I am used to it. I look around and see Chris laughing with his friends. I should have known it was one of the football team's players. I dust myself off, and I walk over to Chris. "Do you ever get tired of being a bully, or is that the only thing you’re good at? Well, it will not surprise me because with your IQ, bullying someone must be entertaining. The rest of you who find that funny must be on the same intellectual level as Chris over here. Grow up!" "Wow, Miss Piggy is angry today," Chris laughs, but I can see he feels a little uncomfortable, as I have never confronted them in the past. "Chris, I warn you, leave Lyra alone!" Nate pretends to stand up for me again. I know this was a setup so he can play my hero again. "I can speak for myself, Nate. I do not need you to come to my rescue. If one of you touches me again, you will regret it! I am tired of your games," I say. "Oh, what are you going to do, Miss Piggy? Fall on all of us like you threatened to do with me?" Victoria asks. "Hahaha, if she does that, it will be like being hit by a bus," Bruce laughs. "Lyra ... my name is Lyra ... stop calling me Miss Piggy," I say. "Guys, that is enough ..." Nate starts again. "Shut up! I told you to keep your f*****g nose out of my business. If one of you calls me names again or bullies me again, you will regret it," I say. "Oh, and how are you going to make us pay?" Chris asks. "All of you are playing sports. I am sure none of you wants to be kicked off your teams. The next time you bully me, I will report you. So, from now on, you ignore me, and I will ignore you," I say. "Hahahaha, as if you are important enough to get us kicked off our teams," Bruce laughs, but he does not look so sure of himself. "Yeah, you forgot one thing. I am the winner of the Harrington International Fellowship, something the school is very proud of. In the past, I kept my mouth shut, but not anymore. Leave me alone, and if you talk to me, call me by my name!" I say. I turn around and walk away. "What the hell is wrong with her?" I hear Chris say. "I don't know. Maybe we pushed her too far," Bruce says. "It is all your fault, Nate. You wanted to play hero so she would follow you around like a puppy again. If I get in trouble, you will go down with me," Chris says. "Shut up! She said she will not do anything. Let's leave her alone for a while. She will come running back," Nate says. I smile as I walk away. The f**k I will! Miss Piggy might have run back to Nate, but Lyra will never even talk to him again if she can help it. Seb walks past me and gives me a little thumbs-up. He must have seen everything, and I am glad he did not try to come to my rescue. Our little secret is still safe, and I know he is nothing like Nate. I am starting to wonder about Seb. Is he really the Crown Prince Nate made him out to be? Yes, he has an arrogant aura about him, but that does not mean he is in the wrong. Is Nate really the one who suffers at home? Or did Nate make up lies to gain my sympathy? I see Seb make a quick U-turn when he sees Victoria, and I smile as I hear her shouting out his name. "Seb ... honey ... wait up," Victoria shouts. "Oh, for f**k sakes! Leave me alone, Victoria. You are becoming a stalker!" Seb says. "Seb, how can you say something like that?" Victoria says. I walk to class. I leave all the drama behind me for now. At least I know they will not be messing with me for a bit.
