Leave me alone

1145 Words
Sebastian's POV We get into the car, and I can only smile at Lyra huffing and puffing. I look at her red face, and I realize that Lyra has a beautiful face. She is not ugly at all, and she does not realize it. It makes her refreshing and she does not worry about joking with herself. I start the car, and we start driving away. My cellphone rings, and I pull a face when I see it is Victoria calling me again. I have about twenty missed calls and fifty messages from her. I let it ring, and Lyra laughs at me. "She is not going to give up. You will have to face her one time or another." "Yeah, but she will not take no for an answer. We'd better get you into shape fast so we can start dating." I laugh. "May I ask you something?" Lyra asks. "Sure," I say. "Everyone else calls me Miss Piggy, but even when you were really angry, you called me Lyra. Why?" She asks. "I do not like to call people names. My mother used to say treat others the way you want to be treated. I will never humiliate someone," I say. "Hmm, you are not really an asshole, you are just too full of yourself. It is because you are good at everything. I bet if you played football, you would be better at it than Nate," Lyra laughs. "Hey, there is nothing wrong with knowing you are good at things, and yes, I will be better than him, but hockey is my game." I say, full of confidence. In high school, I was better at football than Nate, but I had to choose between football and hockey, and hockey is my first love. "Okay, stop here, do not drop me in front of my house. I do not want Peter to see us together yet," Lyra says. "Why?" I ask. "Because he is Nate's best friend, and I want no one to know I am helping you. I do not want Nate to know you are about to beat him with your grades as well. Since you made me run today, your first quiz is tomorrow after hockey practice, and you'd better study those notes I gave you." Lyra says. "Yes, ma'am! See ya, tomorrow, same time, same place," I say as I salute her. "Okay, see you tomorrow," Lyra smiles as she quickly gets out of the car and walks away. I wait until I see her walking safely into Couch Bennett's house. I sit there in there for a while before driving away. I am not looking forward to going home. I have put my notes in my training bag. I do not want Nate to see or find them. I don't even feel like the mansion we stay in is my home anymore. Since my mother died and Nate and his mother moved in, nothing feels the same anymore. I know Nate and his mother are manipulating my father. They think they can convince him to give the company to Nate. Well, there is one hell of a surprise waiting for them. I sigh as I drive up to the house. I know the pink Porsche standing on the driveway. It belongs to Victoria. This woman is driving me crazy. She cheated on me with Nate, and now she is running after me like the love-sick puppy she blamed Lyra to be. I hope she is here for Nate and not me. I take my bag out of the back of my car and sneak around the house, hoping to ignore everyone. However, before I can even reach the end of the driveway, the butler comes to tell me that everyone is waiting for me to have dinner. So, my father and his wife are back. I refuse to call her mother, and my father could not even force me to do that. I walk in the front door, and my father and everyone else, including Victoria is sitting in the living room waiting for me. I wonder who invited Victoria. "Where have you been?" My father asks. "Hello to you too, father," I smirk. "Don't pull that attitude with me, young man," My father says. "I am quickly going to take a shower and put my things away. Why don't all of you go eat? I will grab something later." I have lost all respect for my father. I am not a child anymore. He cannot force me to do anything, and he knows it. "Sebastian, we want to have a family dinner, and Victoria came to see you, so I invited her to stay," my stepmother says. "I will skip family dinner, Carol. I have other things to do. I think Nate and Victoria have more in common than her and me," I say. "Sebastian! I want you at the dinner table in half an hour or else ..." My father starts. "Or else what? You going to kick me out of the house?" I laugh. My father's face is pale. He says nothing. I smile as I walk up the stairs. He has been lying to his new family for years. If only they knew. I am almost twenty-one, and my father knows he will soon be losing his hold on me. He is trying everything to make my life miserable. This ultimatum of mine, getting my grades up or I have to quit hockey, is his way to make me miserable. He and Nate know hockey is my life. They are trying to get me thrown off the team, but with Lyra's help, that ain't going to happen. I clench my fists as I hear footsteps behind me and smell the sharp perfume of Victoria. "Seb ... Please can we talk?" She asks. "No, go home, Victoria, you are making a nuisance of yourself." I know I am rude, but I do not give a f**k. I know she is here because Nate invited her to come. They slipped up the other night, thought that I would not be home, and I wonder how long they had been having an affair behind my back. "Seb, baby, I love you," she pleads again, "Go the f**k away. I do not care. What we had is over. You f****d it up when you f****d my stepbrother. Do I have to spell it out for you? O ...V ... E ... R ..." I say. "I will never give up on us. I made one mistake ... " Victoria says, but before she can say anything else, I close the door in her face. Tonight I have had enough. Enough of my dysfunctional family and my crazy ex! Besides, I have notes to study. I believe my new tutor is going to be even worse than the professors.
