Toby, of all people, saved the life of the General; not quite intentionally but in a rather macabre fashion.
Like Nana and the Nasty, the mercenaries were caught by surprise by the violent red river. They had been speeding as best as they could through the sludge, and they were moving abreast.
The thick fog hid their progress, reducing their visibility so that they saw no more than a couple of metres in front of them. Without warning, they fell into the red water, and they were swept downstream by the swift and strong current.
