It has been almost two centuries since his party. His reflection stared back at him, black hair, red eyes, pale skin. He had grown since his mother forced him to be king. Of course, his brothers served as his personal guards. Nothing like the embodiment of the sins to keep the weirdos away. His mother had left after her and her army lost the battle. Likely somewhere plotting her revenge. Nothing like a Mother's love. A knock interrupting his thoughts.
"Brother?"
"That's king to you Envy. Remember, the pain from last time, avoid that this time."
A grunt in reply was all he was met with. A smile graces his lips, as he finished getting ready. The great thing about being Pride, is he could change his features. Purple eyes stared back, white hair flowed down his back, his face dotted with peacock style makeup.
'Good as any look I suppose meeting with heaven's emissaries. I wonder if the Mortals deal with such ridiculously curt rituals.' He smiled at his own thoughts, what else could be do. He dressed in a crushed velvet suit, black and gold. Looking in the full length mirror, he marveled at his body. Feathers were adorned in his hair, braids falling around his face. The maids backed away as he stood, finally going to get this meeting out of the way. Arch Angels aren't so kind of they are kept waiting.
Stepping into the hallway, he took a deep breath. Sulfur and brimstone assaulted his nostrils, his prized hounds rushing to either side. Taking positions to better protect him. His brothers falling in line behind him.
"Wrath, make sure the royal pains get their ambrosia. Hate when Ezekiel is moody."
Wrath nodded and rushed ahead, taking Sloth who protested he couldn't sleep and play games all day. Rainier shook his head, never understanding why his brothers never chose names. Instead going by titles. Then again, he could never understand the demons to begin with. Lust took position to his right, and Greed standing to his left.
"Let's go then, I'm tired of doing this every fifty years."
Walking as fast as he could, his entourage looking for threats, he spread his wings and entered the meeting hall.
Four angels stood at the head of the table, tall, blonde, and garbed in robes of silk. The tallest raised his hand, gesturing for Rainier to sit.
"No I don't think I will, this is my land. You are my guests." Annoyed they never spoke, he linked via telepathy. Private conversations with the favorite child of Heaven.
'Your demons are causing havoc in the human world. Many have perished already, we need balance.'
'So my mom is raising her own army, after I wiped them out centuries ago?' Hardly my problem, she isn't a part of the underworld anymore.' Rainier sighed, he knew it was only a matter of time.
'Either way, demons are your domain, Rainier, King of Pride. Your mother, she is taking out immortals as well.'
Groaning, he snapped his head up, locking eyes with Ezekiel. Saying aloud for all to hear.
"She isn't my issue, for the last time. The mortal world falls under.your protection alone. I have no hand in it."
Turning he exited the room. He needed a nap.
Jessla POV
Ever since she was a little pup, all she could think about was her mate, her lover, her future family. As time passes, and her friends, siblings, and other found mates. She gave up hope. Was she cursed? Her wolf stirred, feeling her hopelessness.
'Its not your fault, maybe your mate is a powerful alpha!'
She smiled.Trianna always had hope, and Jessla admired her for it. She and her wolf needed to face reality. She would remain mateless. Her father had called a warriors meeting, as their pack was the closest to the gates of the underworld. They were assigned to guard them on command of Ezekiel, as his meeting with the King of Pride didn't go so well. Apparently he was arrogant, wild, and untamed. No woman who was arranged with him could tame him.
Disgusted , she made her way to the main house, members of her pack had gathered.
"Warriors, we have an important mission. Infiltrate the Demon kingdom, and get close to their king. Rainier is distrustful, but my daughter is instrumental in this plan."
She stopped, ice in her veins. 'What? Did our father...'
She shook her wolf back, no he wouldn't. Would he?
