Raine POV The world tilted as the ground gave way beneath me. My scream lodged halfway in my throat as I tumbled, branches snapping around me, dirt clawing at my clothes. Then thud. Pain exploded through my ribs, air knocked clean out of me. But the groan that echoed back wasn’t mine. I blinked, dazed, my face pressed against something solid. Something warm. Something… male. “Oh, for f**k’s sake,” I wheezed, pushing myself up on shaky arms. My palms slipped on something wet, and when I looked down, my stomach tightened. Blood. Lots of it.
