The gas station just outside Boise was quiet, too quiet for Katherine to breathe normally. She leaned against the rental car as Lily napped in the backseat, a map spread across the hood. Aiden was inside paying for gas. Her burner phone buzzed. Unknown number. Again. She almost didn't answer. Then she did. “Ms. Moore," came the familiar, cold voice. “Meredith Evans." Katherine's knuckles whitened around the phone. “What do you want?" “I'm making a final offer." “There won't be a deal." “You haven't heard the terms." Katherine shut her eyes. “Let me guess. Money?
