Chapter 8- Her day

Theon I smiled at the passed-out woman on top of me. I couldn’t help myself but feel satisfied with what I just witnessed. After having her last terrific orgasm while riding me, Mia collapsed. I gently brushed her thick sweaty hair away to look at her face closer. I admitted, she was a beauty and had a body to die for. Her cheeks were soft and flushed. Lips are red and luscious to kiss. Confessing it, I'm somehow drawn to her mysterious demeanor. I just didn’t understand the extent of her needs and why she had to offer her body in exchange for money.  Putting her soft naked body carefully on the bed, I covered her with the comforter. She was sleeping deeply, making me chuckle at the little snores she made. I knew how exhausted she was. I looked at my side table clock, and it was already five in the morning. Though my body was tired too, I couldn’t sleep. Something was bugging me I couldn’t put my hands on. Then I heard my phone buzz. It was Ted. “Hey, still awake, bro?” Ted asked. I was baffled. Why in the hell he was calling me at this hour. “Yes, is everything okay?” I asked him back “Not really. I just received a call. Dad is in the hospital, they just arrived from New York, and mom said he complained of chest pain. I am actually on my way there.” Ted replied. “s**t, Okay, I’ll follow you!” I said before getting up. I went straight to the shower and quickly washed my body. I walked out of the bathroom and saw Mia still sleeping soundly.  I didn’t have the heart to wake her, so I went inside my walked-in closet and dressed up. Pressing the passcode on my money vault, I took hundred-thousand-dollar cash soon as it opened. I went outside and left a note and medicine for Mia. I knew for sure she would be bitching a sore body when she wakes up. I picked her scattered clothes and rested them inside the room. Soon after, I left the penthouse after leaving the money on her clutch and drove straight to the hospital. “Ted!” I called my older brother. He was standing outside the emergency room. Ted looked at me and greeted me with a hug. “Theon, you look tired,” he stated, “Yes, you know why,” I answered him, chuckling, “Where’s mom? Where are they? How’s dad?” I bombarded him with the questions. “Mom is inside with dad. Dad asked for her. I didn’t know yet. Mom just said he was tired of working yesterday. He had a major meeting with the boards in New York that he skipped breakfast and lunch and still worked all night before they left the city,” Theon filled me with some worrying information. “God, he should take care of himself. Where is Leo?” I asked. Leo was my dad’s right hand and vice-Ceo. He trusted the man more than me. “He stayed in New York,” Ted answered. “Oh, it must be an exhausting business trip.” “I guess so. Dad needed extra hands, you know.” Ted implied something on me, “Well, I didn’t know why Leo had to stay there, but I just hope dad would let me help him in the company aside from him.” I bitterly stated.  It wasn’t new to Ted about my resentment towards my dad and my cousin Leo, who everyone was assuming to be the next CEO of our company. Shaking his head, “I know…I’m sorry,” Ted told me, “He could’ve asked me to join them. I know he trusts him most, but I am his son,” I said in dismay. I’d been longing to be a part of our business, but my dad had no faith in me. Ted patted my back. “It’s okay, Theon. You will have your own spot in his place, you know dad, he loves you,” he calmly said to me, but that didn’t lift any burden in me, “I know, but I just don’t understand why he hasn’t moved on about my issues with Zia. I was young then, and it wasn’t entirely my fault,” I voiced him back. Ted just smiled at me. He knew my sentiments about our dad. He had a first-hand experience of how strong-willed our father was. “I hear you, bro,” Ted mumbled, “He’ll forgive you soon,” he said. My dad hadn’t forgiven me yet. Even though it had been years already, and I had felt repentant about it, it seemed it wasn’t enough for him. Zia was my first love. A past that until now, my dad never forgot the mistake that I made. Seven years ago, I found out Zia was pregnant after dating her for two years. I wasn’t ready and was young then when I asked her to get rid of it. I wanted her to abort our baby. Zia’s father was my dad’s best friend. We were childhood friends. My dad found out about what I asked Zia. She didn’t abort the baby and told her family what I wanted to do with the baby, I knew it was my fault, and it wasn’t right. Dad was livid to me, telling me I wasn’t brave enough to face my responsibility, then Zia left me only to find out after a year that it wasn’t my child. That she got impregnated during a one-night stand with the African-American man she met at the bar. Dad found out the truth but still didn’t give back the trust in me, especially when I started playing and sleeping around. I was deeply hurt after learning what Zia did, although I knew I had my fair share of mistakes. My conscience didn’t let me rest the whole time she was gone because of what I did but then finding out she cheated on me outburst my anger towards women. From then on, I never dared myself to be tied and stay with one woman. I didn’t do any serious relationships, and women were just for my manly needs. After some time of waiting, Mom went out of the emergency room. Ted and I greeted her with a hug. “How’s dad, mom?” I asked. “He’s fine and sleeping. They’re moving him to a private room. How are you, son? Sorry, we missed your birthday. Happy birthday!” Mom said in one breath. I hugged my mom again, “It's fine, mom,” I said, brushing her long curly blonde hair. “Ted, you can go home now. Selena must be worried,” My mom said to Ted. Ted smiled, “It’s okay, mom, I sent her a message and told her where I am,” he answered. “Okay, thank you, my sons.” Mom said as I let her sit on the chair. Sometime later, they wheeled in dad to his private room. I told mom to take a break as I stayed with dad while she was resting at home. Mom hesitated, but I assured them I would call her soon as dad wakes up. Ted brought her home while I stayed with my dad. I hang around in the hospital while dad was still sleeping on his bed. He was on an IV drip. I observed him and found that he had aged quickly due to the stress and strain of handling our company. Our company was all the more booming. Chains of jewelry stores and shops were acquainted with us. We owned the most prominent diamond and gold mining company. I knew the extent and statistics of the business as I worked part-time in the back office, which was unlikely for an heir like me. Nevertheless, working close to our company and knowing what was happening gave me hope that someday I would take control of the whole business. I laid my tired body on the comfortable couch provided in the room. I checked my watch. It was only eight in the morning. I could take a snooze in to recharge my energy back from the exhausting work-out I just had hours ago, A soft tap on my arms awoke me. I opened my eyes and saw Thea. “Hey…” I greeted in a hoarse voice. “Theon, you okay?” she asked. “Yes, yes,” I said as I sat myself up, rubbing my face with my hand. “Dad is still asleep. Ted called me to come here since mom was still asleep too in his place.” She whispered, “What time is it?” “It’s freaking two pm, bro.” “Two!?’ I exclaimed before cupping my mouth. “I slept that long?” “Yes, I think so. I kept calling the nurse station. They told me the patient, and you are still having a snoring battle.” She kiddingly told me, making me smile.  “God, I was tired last night,” “I know, it was your birthday, plus those scratches on your neck told me you had a great night,” Thea bantered, I instinctively touched my neck, but I felt nothing. “I was just pulling your leg. Go get up and take proper rest. Mom will be here soon, too, for sure. I spoke to the doctor. Dad might go home tonight. It was over-fatigued,” Thea richly informed me and somehow gave me relief. “I know,” I said, chuckling before stretching up my limb and yawned like no one’s business. I stood up as I wiggled my tired body. I went to the toilet and did my business. Washing my face, I noticed some red marks on my neck. It wasn’t scratches but love bites that Mia probably did to me. “s**t! Mia!” I blurted in worry, and she must still be inside the penthouse.  My door was coded, and she must be stuck. I gargled with mouth wash before heading out of the toilet. I bade goodbye to Thea but not before telling her to update me about dad’s condition. Leaving the hospital, my stomach started to rumble. I remembered Mia again as I knew I had no stock up food and supplies at home. She must be hungry and starving! I drove straight to my favorite Chinese restaurant and ordered a massive amount of food to bring home. After getting my order, I drove back quickly home and opened the door. Silence greeted me. I was expecting a raging angry woman since I locked her up inside. Looking around, I noticed a hanging arm from the living room. It was Mia, peacefully sleeping on the couch. She looked so endearing as she slept. She must’ve tried to unlock the door many times as I saw errors on its record. I put the plastic and takeaway bags on the table and crouched down to wake her up. “Mia,” I called. She didn’t budge, “Mia…” I whispered as I tapped her soft cheeks. She didn’t move. I shook her shoulder and tapped her again, and she flickered her eyelids. Then she opened her eyes wide soon as she saw me. “Wake up,” I said, standing up. Her eyes burrowed in me, realizing who I was. She sat up abruptly, but I saw her face winced in pain. I knew she was still sore.  “I’m s..sorry… I couldn’t open the door,” she explained to me. I just smiled at her. “Get up. I brought you foods,” I said before leaving her and walked towards the table to prepare the meals. “s**t! I need to leave!” she uttered, brusquely  standing up “Stay here and eat first. I’m sorry I forgot to leave you the passcode,” I clarified as I removed the boxes of food from the bag. “No, it’s okay, I got to leave. Jen must be worried about me,” She answered as she walked towards the door. Mia then looked at me, asking me. I shook my head, “Eat….” I said, “Sorry, I had an emergency early in the morning, and I just remembered I had no stock up food here, so here I am. I brought you our late brunch.” I explained to her, “Thank you, but I can’t stay any longer….” I didn’t believe it since I knew how starving I was. “Mia…” I spoke sternly, “I’ll let you out after you eat… I promise,” I added convincingly, telling her to believe me. She nodded at me. She then headed to the table and sat as I served her the food. “Thank you…” she mumbled. I sat down as I started eating the Chinese noodles that I ordered for us. She was quiet throughout. I kept looking at her as I saw her face redden from the hot mist of soup. Soon as she finished eating, Mia stood up and took her dishes to the sink. She offered to wash my bowl, and I gave it to her. I silently watched and observed her, and she seemed uncomfortable when hours ago was too engrossed worshipping me. After washing the dishes, Mia dried her hands and walked away, taking her purse with her. She then headed to the door. I crossed my arms over my chest and looked at her. “The door, please,” Smugly chuckling, I walked towards her, “Give me your hand,” I told her, “Why?” she asked skeptically, “Just give me,” I said sternly. I didn’t know what came into my head why I wanted to save her details in my security door. Doubtfully, Mia raised her left hand, and I grabbed it. “Open,” I demanded. Mia obliged, opening her palm as I scanned it to the palm scanner. “Add your passcode,” I stated.  “Why?” she asked. “Just put a number on that passcode tab next to you,” I said, looking at the passcode tab next to her. She again pressed four digits number 0-4-2-8. Just a number different from my password. It was my birthdate. April 27. The door unlocked. Soon as she pressed enter, I opened the door wide for her.  “Thank you,” Mia mumbled before making her way out of the door. “You're welcome, Mia,” I smiled, closing it. Soon as I closed and turned around, I heard a ringing sound of a phone. I quickly found where it was. It was placed down on the floor, attached to a cable charger. It must be Mia. I took it and accidentally pressed the answer button. “Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday, dear Mia, happy birthday, my love! Happy birthday, sis! Wake up, sleepyhead. Rizza told me you are still sleeping. It’s your day! You should be celebrating and enjoying it! Enough hustling for me. I love you, my favorite person. I have a surprise for you once you come over to the hospital oopps! since I said it already. It won’t be a surprise anymore! But please come here soon!” My eyes split wide as I unbelievably heard the whole thing while the lady told all at once in one breath. It’s Mia’s birthday today… “Sissy? Are you okay? Why aren’t you answering?” I heard the voice asked. I was speechless. I dropped the call, and then I walked in haste to follow Mia. She needed her phone. Soon as I opened the door, Mia was already standing in front of me. “My phone…” she sheepishly said, staring at me I handed it to her, “Here….”  Mia took it, “Thank you,” she sheepishly mumbled, averting her eyes away from me. I walked closer to her and hovered my hand on her beautiful face, “Happy birthday, Mia,” I greeted before kissing her on the forehead.
