"I'm gonna stop if I were you", his voice filled with venom.
The guy took a peek from his shoulders and scoffed. "And who do you think you are?", his hands still holding both my hands.
"Oh, you're gonna running down the hills once you know who I really am. Now let the girl go", he said again with calm but dangerous tone.
"Not gonna happen. Go find another girl to screw with", he said and turned his attention to me. I cried harder and he just chuckled. God, please help me. I felt his hand tried to unbutton my shirt but the next thing happened was the guy was pulled away forcefully from me. I straightened my back and took a few breaths to calm myself down.
I saw Sean punched the guy in the face and stomach making him grunted in pain. When he fell to the floor, Sean kicked his ribs repeatedly making him screamed in pain. I was pretty sure they were broken already.
Sean gave more kicks and the guy laid there unconscious without moving any finger. God, he wasn't dead right? Blood covered his face making me want to throw up and the thought that he might be dead was killing me inside. I mean, I wasn't the one who did it but I just witnessed everything.
"Valerie, are you okay?", I didn't realized Sean calling me until he shook my body.
My eye sight turned to Sean who was kneeled in front of me with worry filled his eyes. "Is he dead?", I asked in whisper.
"No. He's just unconscious", he said like it was nothing. He reached his hand to my shoulder and I pulled away slightly, still afraid of what he just did. He almost killed that guy and God knows what he could do to me.
"You don't have to be scared of me, Valerie. I'm not going to hurt you", he sounded sincere. I was still scared of him but deep down I felt like I could trust him. He just saved me.
"OK", I mumbled and he gave me a small smile.
He got up first then offered his hand to help me stand up. I took his hand as he pulled me up on my feet.
"Come on I'll take you home", he said taking off his jacket and put it on my shoulder which smelled like his cologne. He was left only with a dark T-shirt which showed his tone muscles.
"No, you'll get cold", I said taking it off.
"I'm fine. Please just wear it", he said putting it back on me. To be honest I needed it since I was shivering like crazy, not from the cold though, but from what had just happened.
"Come on, I'll get you home", he said putting his arm around my shoulder which made me warmer.
"But how about him?", I pointed toward the unconscious body on the ground.
"He'll wake up. Don't worry about him", he said dragging me away from the disturbing sight and I let him. So he wasn't dead then? I looked at him in doubt. Sean seemed to know what he was doing.
"So, what are you doing at this hour? Don't you know it's dangerous for a girl like you wandering around this street?", he scolded pulling me closer to him.
"I-I was just giving back the keys of the shop to my boss's apartment. She told me and my friend to close the shop for today and bring the keys to her place", I explained.
"And where is your friend?", he retorted.
"She said she has to fetch his brother from the airport", I said. Well, I wasn't sure about that after what Mrs. Hardy had told me.
"Please don't go out alone anymore in this hour", his voice softened, his arms tightened around my shoulder.
"Why?", I asked confused.
"Because I don't like it", he answered.
"And why is that?", I raised my brow.
"You ask too much don't you think?", he said amused. Why did he care so much? We didn't know each other but he seemed concerned about me.
"So this is it", I said when we stopped in front of the apartment.
"Nice place you got here", Sean admired the building.
"Actually it's Dani's place. She just offered me to live with her", I said embarrassed. There was no way I could afford this place, not even my parents.
"Oh, I see", his eyes locked with mine. We kept looking at each other like that until I cleared my throat and we broke eye contact.
"I'm going inside now. I'll see you around", I said taking off his jacket and handed it back to him.
"You keep it", he said.
"What? No. It's cold and you're walking", I exclaimed.
"Who said I'm going to walk?", he smirked. Was that mean he had a car all this time and let us to walk that far?
"Just keep it. For me", he said tugging a strand hair to my ear making my cheek red.
"Thanks. I guess I'll see you around", I said tugging the jacket around my arm and turned on my heels.
"Valerie", he said grabbing my hand and I slowly turned around to meet his brown orbs again.
"Sleep tight", he squeezed my hand lightly.
"Ok. You too", I said smiling and he let go of me.
I felt his intense gaze on my back and I didn't dare to to turn around to meet those eyes. Everytime I looked at them, I was completely lost but calmed me at the same time.I didn't know why I felt this way and I never felt this way towards anyone. Not even my previous boyfriend.
I entered the apartment suddenly being greeted by the sound of TV from the living room. When I closed the door, the sound of footsteps coming towards me. It was Dani. "Where have you been? I've been worried sick about you. You didn't answer my call either", she started to ramble.
"I'm sorry, I went to my boss's house to give back her key", I let out a small smile.
"But it's almost midnight, Val. I thought something happened", she said in worried tone. Well she wasn't wrong about that.
"I'm sorry. I should've called", I said apologetically.
"Don't do that to me again, young lady", she scolded like a mother to her child.
"Yes, mom", I said in playful tone. "I'm going to bed, I'm so tired", I said as I let out a yawn. Dani chuckled and went back to the living room. I passed the living room and took at glimpse of James sitting on the couch, his hand was holding the remote. I quickly walked to my room and got ready for bed.
After a warm shower and brushing my teeth, I climbed to may bed, bringing the cover up to my neck. I sighed, remembering what I just experienced tonight. I was almost r***d and if it wasn't for Sean, God knew what would happen to me.
I tossed and turned the whole night, couldn't sleep thinking about him. I felt like there was something that made me attracted to him more and we kept bumping to each other when I didn't expect to see him again. I didn't know if it was a good thing or not but it was too much of a coincidence.
I could still imagine his features. His tall handsome figure with lazy eyes but they could kill when he looked at you intently. His warm muscular body when he was beside me made me felt protected. He was perfect and I didn't think I could stand without being his side.
Remember when I said I didn't want to see him again? Well, I'd like to take it back now.
