Chapter 3 - Am I Free??

ELANA -POV

What the hell just happened! “ it is okay Elana” I hear Raven say to me “ you can trust him he is our mate” I am not so sure thou father has “lent” me to his drunken friends more than once but this man smells good like fresh morning dew and wood musk. I curl up trying to cover my naked body with blood still dripping from my nose, i peek up at this man terrified of what is next.

He looks around my tiny room and picks up my tattered blanket and hands it to me I reach up and our fingers meet and I feel sparks shooting up my arm and tingling feeling inside, I can feel Raven giddy with excitement but I am still apprehensive about this sexy large man standing before me. As I take the blanket, Bonnie and Bonita burst in the room and see father on the floor. Bonnie grabs me by the hair and slaps me across the face screaming “ how dare you hurt our father after all he has done for you, you ungrateful b***h” throwing me to the ground. Bonita runs up and kicks me in the back and yells “I told you she was evil Bonnie with that mark on her neck why did you seduce our father you w***e? ” not caring that I was naked and bloody and bruised from the attack from father.

I can feel Raven about to lose her cool on the girls. She could never protect me before but now she knows everything I have been through and she hates the girls and Carl she won’t let me get hurt again. She says “ the mark is special Elana and you will find out when the time is right just know the moon goddess has bestowed greatness upon you”

I had always wondered about the small heart shaped birthmark on my neck. Few people know about it but the girls seem to think I am cursed. Bonnie goes to kick me again and Steele steps between them and me and roars “NO ONE WILL TOUCH MY MATE” as he back hands both girls laying them out onto the floor. The room is spinning and I put my head in my hands hoping to steady my breath, this has been way too much all at once. I met my wolf and my mate on the same day! I think he is my mate that is what Raven says she is sure of it and she said I will know when I see her and Jax together, she loves Jax so much already.

STEELE POV

I am just trying to comprehend what is going on right now. My poor mate has been abused and tortured by her family, she is beautiful and scared but I think she has fight in her, I mindlink Mike and tell him I need him now, I sneer at the two simpering blondes on the floor “ listen here, no one will ever touch her again to you understand me? She is my mate and I am taking her away from this hell hole and you best pray you keep your lives for hurting her!”

Just as Mike, Nick and Brad try to enter the tiny room, Carl groans and attempts to stand up, I grab Carl and throw him at Mike “ take him and watch him while I tend to my mate I will deal with him later” the look in my eyes made Mike shiver as he knew I could not stand a man abusing a woman much less a child and my given mate. Mike knew Carls fate was sealed as I would not allow him to live. Mike escorted Carl out the room, “Nick,Brad see these simpering idiots get to their rooms and they stay there I never want to see their ugly faces again” Steele commanded. Nick and Brad grabbed the girls and led them out the room as well leaving only Steele and Elana.

“Do you have anything to wear? I asked her looking around at the pitiful closet she called a room. She went to a small broken desk and put on a torn t shirt and tattered old jeans that Bonita had discarded.

“What is your name?” I asked.

“Elana” she replied keeping a distance between us. I guess I don’t blame her for being so weary of me after what she has been through.

“Are you hungry?” I asked she was so thin and it looked like she hadn’t eaten in days.

ELANA -POV

“I am starving” I say looking across the small room at the large man standing before me. He walks over and gently takes me hand and leads me to out to the kitchen where he gets me a drink and plate of food. I sit and begin to eat as fast as I can but savouring ever bite as it has been a while since I last ate. He is staring at me and I feel uncomfortable, most men just use me and I am terrified he will also want to hurt me.

“How old are you?” He asks as he watches me eat.

“I turned sixteen tonight and I just met my wolf Raven” I replied he sure is sexy I thought even though he did scare me, he was one hot man. He loves you Elana, Raven says in my head he will never let anyone hurt you again. I tell Raven that I trust her and I will follow her lead.

I am not sure to be scared or excited but I will trust Raven to take care of me. She said we have to shift in order to become one and I have to do it tonight. “It’s okay”Raven says immediately calming my mood “I will walk you through it”

“ You just turned sixteen tonight? Steele repeats.

“ Yep” I reply looking up at him.

“You have to shift tonight then!” He surmised and I nodded my head in agreement.

“Well then let’s go” he says leading me out the back door.

“Umm err well okay” I stammer on the way out.

“Is this all you have for clothes?” He asks softly.

“Yes” I say “ the girls destroy most of what fits me before I can wear it.”

I notice him mindlinking again and hear Raven say it is time, the moon has risen and I have to shift. I look up at Steele and say “I have to shift now can you look away?”

He laughs and turns around saying” as you wish my love”

I feel so warm inside hearing kind words when all my family had ever spewed at me was hateful words and violence. I take off my clothes and put them by a tree,

“I am going to take over now okay Elana?” Raven asks. “I am ready” I respond, scared and anxious about what is about to happen.

I give in to Raven and feel excruciating pain in my arms then back and legs. It feels like my body is going to explode and Raven assures me it’s ok eventually the pain recedes and I look at my reflection in the nearby water am a huge solid black wolf with a white heart shaped mark on my forehead. Ohhhh I think I am sooo pretty!! “You can turn around I guess” I say to Steele as I turn around and check myself out.

He gasps when he sees my face and says” Moon goddess are you sure?”

I don’t know what he is talking about I just know I wanna run I jump around a bit and he understands.

We need to run and Raven wants to meet Jax, Steele can tell by the way she nips at him she wants him to shift so she can finally be with her man.
