Paying The Price

Chapter 8

Kiara P.O.V

"I mean your grandma sells snails in her village and you are broke" he said making my face turn to pink due to embarrassment. "Well back to business" he said looking all serious again.

Your father Mr Dollar owes me a million dollars" he said. "What why will my father borrow a million dollars, I don't believe you" I shouted back. "Rocky get me those documents I asked for" he said and a guy came in holding some papers. He threw it on my face and went back outside. Rude just like their boss.

I looked at the documents and saw my father's hand writing and signature stating that I was the one to pay his debt if he can't pay it back within six months. What shocked me most was the fact that my signature was there stating that I agreed to it.

I never liked him but I just put up with him because of Karen and the facts that my mom made me do a change of name from Kiara Rodrigo to Kiara Dollar. That's right he is Karen's real father and also my step dad.

"Well I am sorry about that but could you give me six extra months to gather up the money?" I asked. Here i was thinking that I had cleared all my father's debts then boom the highest debt is standing right in front of me.

"Well I could give you extra months but how am I so sure that you will pay back within those three months, i mean you don't have a job" he said with a smirk on his face. "What do you suggest that I do?" I asked already giving up.

"I could give you a job, house, food without paying you" he said. The offer sounds so tempting but what kind of job was he talking about, I wondered. "What is the job?" I asked. "Simply, become a maid in my house.

"Why would I work in a place where I would see your face every day and secondly I can't leave my sister, so no thank you". I said. "Okay that is totally fine by me i will just arrest you for breaching of contract" he said.

What! Why? I didn't even sign that contract, I argued. "Look at my face, and tell me if I look like I care" he said. "You are just mean but let me tell you something I am going to walk out of here and if you try to stop me I will call the police on you" I threatened. "Okay".

Okay? Is that all he is going to say. I wonder what people fear in him or did my threat really scare him, I wondered as I walked out. I opened the main door and still nothing happened. I smiled victoriously as I almost approached the main gate when two wolf like dogs appeared and stood at the gate.

I remembered what Nina told me about not trying to run when ever a dog approaches me, who knows it could be a friendly dog. I tried my best to stand still but lost my courage when they started barking. Without anyone telling me anything, I turned back and ran towards the house screaming for help.

I got in and bent my head breathing heavily when I heard him say "What are you doing here? Did you change your mind". So this was his plan to scare the s**t out of me. I was about to talk when I heard a voice different from he's say "bro did you buy a new noise machine because this one is definitely the most annoying".

It was that boy who was beating my sister, I was still looking at him when I heard Mitchell's laughter, I turned my head to glare at him and he kept quiet. "You?" I heard him say.

"Mitchell is he your brother and does he live here?" I asked looking at him and I saw Mitchell nod his head signaling a yes. This just gives me more reasons why i can not accept the job offer. Brother, this was the girl who called me a coward I heard him say. "Well then prepare to meet your new maid Kiara" Mitchell said.

"No way"
