“Show me what you can really do.” Zyrus’s voice was still rough from last night—half growl, half plea—as he stood barefoot in the center of the empty training yard behind the keep. Dawn hadn’t fully broken; the sky was bruised purple, the moon a fading ghost above the eastern ridge. I flexed my fingers. White light still shimmered under my skin like veins of starlight. It hadn’t faded with sunrise.
