Kayla’s surprise had to wait.
The filming on Set Two went so well, Paul and Jerry decided to tape another scene that hadn’t been scheduled for two more weeks. That put them ahead, in the grand scheme, but delayed dinner by three hours. And word had spread, so everyone wanted to be present when Jimbo presented Kayla with the handmade crutches.
Then the set crew devised some ingenious modifications that—they hoped—would allow her to navigate the long golden-white beach. So several more days passed before they were finally satisfied.
