Chapter 4

1352 Words
Olivia bought her birth control pills at the pharmacy at the end of the street and then stopped by to pick up some croissants. She browsed through the contraceptive pills' notes as she walked slowly back to her apartment. Her friend had messaged her and she saw it just as she arrived at her doorstep. "I'm home." She said wearily, a bag of croissants being casually shoved at the first person standing in the doorway before she fell back onto her bed. The person holding the bread was Amara, who had dressed herself up for a video shoot, but Olivia, who had finally arrived home, had kindled her gossipy spirit. Elsie and Nola were quick to gather around as well. "Did you guys have a good time last night?" Nola and the other two sisters exchanged glances, then asked tentatively. "It was okay." Olivia could have shared her first night experience with her sisters, if it hadn't happened that way while she was gone. "And then what? Why do I get the feeling you weren't happy, did something happen to you?" How should she answer her sisters? She was now mentally urging herself to stay calm, but on the other hand, she couldn't help remembering the details. She tucked her head under the covers and had to admit that it was a night she would never forget, and although Jaspar had cheated on her, it was happy enough in that moment. She placed her fingertips on her lips and electricity flowed through her body in a flash as she once again felt the sensation of being held in the arms of a n***d and hot Jaspar. But as unforgettable as the previous experience had been, the humiliation that followed would be as severe. "He lied to me." Olivia reared her head from under the covers, her tears running down her cheeks again as she suddenly wanted someone other than her to know what had happened between them. This couldn't stay in the back of her mind and only make her feel bad, "He has a fiancée, but he lied to me that he was still single." "What?" Nola immediately looked serious, "Jaspar actually lied to you? He is such a person?" It's easy for a well-off, well-lived and friendly stranger to be preconceived as a gentleman in one's head, and even Nola couldn't avoid it. But that's what happened, and Olivia had just experienced the greatest humiliation of her life. "I asked him last night if he had a girlfriend and he told me no. But the next morning I met his fiancée on his doorstep, the woman who called last night 'Free Night', and I practically ran away from his house!" Olivia's sisters had another brief stare-down as they all realized how insulting "free night" could be, and Amara, who had some more experience in this area, sat down on the edge of Olivia's bed and weighed her words of comfort, "It's just a man. It's just a night; forget about him after this night, including these bad things. That man lied to you, and you don't have to feel bad about it." Olivia didn't say it, she was plagued with mixed emotions, not just because Jaspar had lied to her. What could make her dwell on it even now was that she was still thinking about Jaspar, about the hot night and his body. It's shameful that she knew that the man had a fiancée and that they might even be getting married soon. But she didn't speak about it, she wasn't going to see him again anyway, and she was going to keep it to herself. "I want to sleep now, is it okay?" Her friends heard her low voice, and after exchanging opinions they still thoughtfully exited the room. Elsie, being the excellent cook of the house, placed a cup of hot milk and a piece of cake on her bedside. "Eat up to have a good dream, dear." Jaspar woke up from his sleep and tucked his cell phone, full of missed calls, under his pillow. He remembered last night and subconsciously reached out to scoop the girl next to him back into his arms, but his side was empty. He took about three seconds to confirm whether his memory of last night was accurate, or if it was actually all in his head, but in the end he concluded that his memory was not confused. He began to feel confused because he had seen a lot of women, and although he didn't often bring woman back here, he hadn't seen a woman leave in such a sneaky manner. Mr. John, the butler, who knocked on the door and came in, reported to him exactly what had happened. "Yes sir, the lady left two hours ago, she didn't leave any message for you." The maid brought Olivia's dress to Jaspar at this time, having finished washing and drying it. He lifted a corner of the slip dress, and the white lace underwear hidden beneath was revealed. "What was the woman wearing to leave?" "Your clothes, a Prada T-shirt and jacket, and Brunello Cucinelli jeans." Tens of thousands of dollars of clothes had been worn away by that woman, it was not much, but he ignited a nameless feeling of annoyance, and he did not know how to explain such a strange emotion in him. But the woman had been completely imprinted on his mind, she left in his jacket, she didn't even take her own clothes with her, how urgent it needed to be. He recalled everything from last night, the details that would still make him nostalgic, none of which would allow him to offer a reasonable explanation for such bizarre behavior. Had he not done enough? Impossible, none of the women had negative things to say about him. As someone with the gift of attracting women, in addition to his wealth, he was at the top of the crowd. The comments and feedback he received from those around him gave him such confidence. He recalled all that he had personally experienced before and immediately retracted his doubts about his ego, that there was nothing wrong with his charm and that Olivia shed tears of happiness in his arms last night. Jaspar pondered as he walked downstairs, he had things to do today. But he met another woman in the living room, Ivy who had threatened him with marriage not long ago, and they broke up when he didn't agree to her demands. Ivy, now acting as if nothing had happened, put her arm around him intimately and joined him in the dining room. Their parents knew each other and they had sort of grown up together, so despite all the bad blood between them, he generally didn't treat her badly. Jaspar's attention shifted tentatively to Ivy: "What are you doing here?" "My father wants to see you." "What is uncle seeing me for? To talk business?" "No," Ivy came closer, almost face to face with him, "Aren't we together? I've told my father about this, and we're going to meet him together." Jaspar put down his knife and fork, his expression became serious, it was Ivy who had proposed to him to break up, and he had agreed. Now only a few days had passed and Ivy had forgotten the fact that they had broken up and had made it official with her family. "Ivy, I've been tolerant of you, but I wish you would remember what I answered you before, that I don't want to get married early and we've broken up." Jaspar stood up, he felt that today was not his lucky day, because he had gotten off to a very bad start. "John, send Miss Ivy away." Jaspar stood at the window and watched Ivy fling her purse and leave in anger. John stood behind him and he knew he had something else to say. "I don't want to go." That was his answer, but John sometimes stood on his parents' side. "That's your father, and you're going to see him eventually."
