Chapter 7

The rest of the week flew by. Between the mountain of homework and final projects getting started,0  Lythia  could barely catch her breath. Then she had work to attend after class. Keeping both mentally and physically busy, it seemed to help keep her mind wondering about the dream. The dreams were never consistent. They came and went as they pleased. Each time she felt more confused and now a little lonely. Having a full night’s worth of sleep was welcomed, she also loved visiting the vivid fields. They were becoming a second home to her, and somehow she felt like she had people waiting for her.            Hitting the snooze on her alarm, Lythia  rolled out of bed. Bright red numbers shown ten o’clock. Sighing heavily she forced herself to get out of the covers. Then proceeded to carry on with her normal morning routine. Once she was done Lythia knocked on Jacobs door. He was awake and sitting at his desk. Text book open, and pencil flying away on paper as he jotted down note after note. Whenever he had free time he normally had a book in his hand.           “Hey, you want to go to the girls apartment together or separate?” She dangled both their keys in the air.          Tossing his pencil down he spun around in his chair while looking at his wrist watch. Twelve o’clock shined brightly back. “Let’s just go together. We’re both going to crash at their apartment tonight anyway.” “Works for me.” Lythia shrugged at Jacob grabbed his keys. “Also we may need to pick up coffee.” “There is no maybe if we wanna stay alive today.” He winked walking down the steps. Lythia grabbed a hood and her purse following him out the door. The ride was filled with music, and laughter as they joked around. Times like these Lythia loved. Even though everyone sees each other through out the day, they never have time to just relax. So in the rare occasions they did she loved every moment.   After picking up coffee for everyone, they pulled up to Bell and Jackie’s apartment. Jacob flipped around his key ring until he got to the key he wanted. Unlocking the door he stopped in his tracks letting out a huge sigh. Curiously she peeked around him, and a gasp escaped her lips.            They both looked around and noticed clothing was strung from one end of the living room toward the other. Shoes littered the coffee table and kitchen counter. It was like they had walk into a department store that was hit with a tornado. Between the two girls and the amount of clothing strung out  Lythia figured they had enough to dress everyone in the building.          Jacob  Let out another sigh again and picked up a slinky yellow dress by his feet. Looking it over he tossed it toward Jackie as she emerged from one of the bedrooms. Catching it she stared at it intently for a moment, before a smile crept across her face.           She gave Jacob a quick kiss before stripping off the dress she had on. Then she slid into the yellow dress. Glancing at the mirror down the hallway she nodded in approval before disappearing again.            Yawning Jacob made his way to the couch. Knocking a few pairs of shoes off he sat down. Looking around for the TV remote an uncomfortable expression crossed his face. Reaching behind him and removing two identical shoes. Just as jackie came back down the hall he handed them off to her. She squealed with delight as she put them on. He gave her a smile then started digging in the couch cushions again for a remote. Lythia kicked the door closed and walked toward the coffee table. With one swift motion she pushed all the suff lining ut off before sitting the coffee down. Picking the remote out from the stuff she just pushed of and handing it off to her brother. He graciously accepted iit and began flipping through the TV.            Lythia wasn’t sure what she was more surprised about. The amount of clothing both girls had strung all over, or her brother. Taking a sip of her coffee, she couldn’t help but look at him in a new light. He had such a deep connection with Jackie that they didn’t need to speak to know what each other wanted or was thinking. It was beyond cute.             Bell finally popped out from one of the bedrooms. She smiled at Jacob and stopped in front of Lythia. Eyeing her up and down she sighed. “You are not wearing that.”            Grabbing one of the piles of clothes off the floor she dropped them into Lythias arms. Looking to Jacob for  help, he just laughed and continued to channel surf.          “I don’t think I look bad.” Lythia mumbled looking into the floor length mirror. She had on shorts and a pale green t-shirt.       Bell scoffed as she grabbed a pile of clothes from the other side of Jacob. “Well that makes one of us.” This was a fight she knew she couldn’t win. Sighing even louder Lythia followed Bell back toward her bedroom.           Dropping all the clothes in their hands on the bed, Lythia sat in a chair in the corner. Jackie reappeared with everyone coffee. She eyed Lythia before helping Bell make quick work digging through it. They tossed back and forth ideas while looking through different colors and fabric. As Jackie pulled a dress up both girls smiled then tossed it to Lythia.            The dress was a lighter shade of blue. It came down to the middle of her thighs. Spaghetti straps wrapped over her shoulders.  Both girls eyed her up and down before grabbing a curling iron and starting on her hair. As Bell finished loosely curling the last strand of Lythia’s hair, Jackie finished adding the final touches to her make up.             Turning to look at the mirror Lythia’s mouth fell open. She wasn’t sure who was looking back at her. Brown curls hang loosely around her face. The color of blue accented her skin giving it a radiant glow, and the makeup they applied made her look almost flawless.            “I look amazing!” Lythia exclaimed.            Jackie stood back with a smirk across her face. “Well of course, I don’t do mediocre work.”            “Hey, I so did the hair!” Bell interjected.            “With my instructions, but you did a great job none the less. “Jackie clapped her hands together.            All three girls walked out toward Jacob. He glanced from the TV. His mouth nearly dropped to the ground. “She can’t leave wearing that!” He exclaimed toward Lythia.         “The hell she can’t.” Jackie argued back. “I’m not going to pick something else. Drop the big brother act for a moment and help me with my zipper.”       Growling at her he walked over and zipped it up the rest of the way. “Can she at least bring a sweatshirt with her?”          “Sure, sure. If it makes you stop nagging.” She twisted in his arms and gazed at him. “Well? What do you think?”           “You look amazing babe.” He kissed her forehead. She gained. “Just amazing?” Bell and Lythia rolled their eyes as they took a seat at the kitchen counter, finishing what was left of their coffee. Jacob always turned into a softy with Jackie. She seems to know exactly what to say to get her way. At times it was annoying but now Lythia was thankful. His attention was always less focused on her, which meant she could get away with a lot of this. Heading out the night air was crisp and refreshing as they met up with Eric. “What’s up.” He smiled. “Is Davin really not  joining us?” Jacob shrugged. “Guess so. He really likes this girl.” “He really likes them all.” Bell spat sarcastically. Jacob laughed. “He is a equal opportunists.” “Then I need him to share the wealth.” Eric started laughing. Bell rolled her eyes and continued walking.  Since the party was only a couple of blocks away from the girls apartment they decided to walk. The blocks were considered off campus housing, but were completely full of campus students. It was apparent just by walking down the street. Young adults crowded the walk ways headed to on campus and off campus things. On campus had a library, café, and gym. Off campus there were many tiny restaurants, bars, and stores to go to. Each night you could do something different. However since they were always so busy. Their group only did things I n the weekend. It was rather nice, staying by campus. It was like it’s own little city and you never had to travel very far. They knew they were getting closer as the music was starting to get loud. Still at least a block away Lythia started to get excited. This was her first huge college party. Even though she had been drinking with everyone before, it was never  campus parties. She knew it was because of her brothers. They always did keep a look out for her. Lythia glanced over to her brother. He was lost in a deep conversation with Jackie. Bell was to her other side furiously typing away on her phone. The look on her face was all Lythia needed to see before knowing it was Jin. Glancing back up, she pushed Bell in-between her and Jacob. This way she could text and they both could catch her if something happened. As they continued walking it became clear which houses were throwing parties. There were two houses side by side. People were standing and sitting around the front yard. Bright lights and loud music was pouring out of the front door. People were moving in and out of the front door. Lythia couldn’t help but almost bubble over with excitement. Bell grabbed her hand and pulled her along to the porch.                    As they started entering the house there was a couple of guys on the front porch doing a keg stand. Lythia couldn’t help but stop to watch. A small crowd was forming around pushing her to the front, while chanting ‘chug’. He gulped greedily for a minute before beer sprayed allover and he righted himself. The guys holing the keg motioned to the small group for the next victim to join. Not noticing her brother standing next to her he whispered. “Don’t do anything stupid like that or I’ll kick your butt.” She looked up at him just to be greeted with a fake smile. “I wasn’t planning on it.” As if on que three guys ran up chanting Jacobs name. He high fived one of them and put his arm around another whispering something in his ear, and all three started laughing. Lythia couldn’t help but look at her brother in awe. He was genuinely a nice person, and got along with everyone. In high-school and college he had no issue making friends with different walks of life. With in the few minutes of them standing there at least twenty people walked by saying his name or giving him a high five.  She couldn’t help but smile at him. Even if he could be over protective at times, she was happy to have him as a big brother. A hand wrap around hers Lythia looked over. Bell was tugging on her arm to follow her. Smiling brightly she followed along excitedly into the house
