Chapter 11

The next day I am sitting on a chair next to Leah as she sleeps and I am organizing my moms travel arrangements on my Iphone when hear the door open to our room, I look up and Andrew is standing there with his arms full of flowers and stuffed toys and I silently laugh, I am about to get up and help him unload his load and then talk to him outside but i mustn't have been as quiet as i assumed i was “What’s so funny?” a hushed whisper comes from the bed, Leahs awake “Oh good you’re awake” there's no point in whispering as I smile down to her and kiss her forehead “Leah, I would like to introduce my best friend from childhood Andrew Thomas but I call him Drew” after realizing that there is another person in the room, she quickly sits up and tries to discreetly fix her hair “Oh hi there Andrew, I am sorry for my appearance but I think I get a pass considering I just had two humans exiting my virgina” he obviously doesn't expect her to be this direct so he covers his surprised chuckle as a cough, i quickly step forward to assist Andrew in placing the items he brought down onto the table, I can see the surprise and humor in his eyes but covers it by switching on the charm. He walks over the bed and kisses he cheek “Congratulations to you two, when Raul told me that you come back onto the scene and pregnant to boot, I was a little worried about ulterior motives that you may have but I have seen him here with only pride and love in his eyes and I can see he’s generally happy, so I just want to thank you for that'' during his speech she went blood red and I was concerned for a second there, I think he's allergic to feelings the way hes going on. I almost tackled him in the first half, I’m not going to lie, Leah and i have already had that specific topic out and in the open and it almost finished any chances we may have had before it even started “Well thank you for those words, but I think it’s a case of making each other happy” she blushes but smiles at him and I'm relieved to see its an actual smile and not a fake one “Whoa! Wait a second, is that a huge rock I see on your finger?” he reaches for her hand pulls it close to his face to look at the engagement ring, she looks hesitant but comfortable so i relax a little “Oh man, I forgot” I slap a hand against my forehead, playing along "Just before all the excitement, I finally managed to get a rock on her finger and a promise from her to be mine” He looks at me obviously looking for any sign that i was forced but i just smile at him and then he beams at us “Finally” and winks at her, she rolls her eyes and I shake my head but I notice that Leah is starting to show her exhaustion “Drew, follow me, I would like to introduce you to my son and daughter” I kiss her again and whisper “Rest, ill be right back” then we both turn to the door and leave the room.

I have changed back into jeans and a button up when i assisted the nurse change Leah into her pjs “She's beautiful inside and out, I am so happy for you man” he claps me on my shoulder and I smile at him but then I deflate as I think of everything that she did and what could have gone wrong I sink into the nearest chair and place my hand in my head “I don’t know man, I was scared shitless when she was in all that pain and I could do a damn thing to help her, all i could remember thinking is that i wish we could swop places” he sits down next to me “That’s love my man, if you didn’t love her then that pain that she went through would mean nothing to you” I nod and stand up "I finally understand, but man follow me and see my offspring" he stands up next to me and we continue to the NICU window, the twins are hooked up to the monitors and look tiny but i noticed on my last visit that they weren't on any IV and any feeding tubes like alot of the other babies “There they are, my son Tatum and daughter Rory” I say as I point out the twins with so much pride iny tone. “Aw man, they are cute, I don’t usually say anything like that about babies because I don’t find babies cute, they usually look like drowned rats but those two are adorable” I can feel my chest expanding as I feel the love and pride flowing out of me. They only other time I felt like this was when I was in Portugal with my family, that’s how I know I have found the right woman.

“Are you ready Mrs. Calisto ?” asks the nurse as she helps me get dressed into normal clothes consisting of my leggings and a loose top, I don't correct her because i'm springing this joint but its a bittersweet moment as i have to leave my babies here “Definitely” I grin at her and she smiles back, she assists me to sit in a wheelchair just as Raul walks in. My smiles just gets bigger as I see my hot future husband that has left many drool on the floor of many women of all ages. We make our way to the lifts to take us down to the underground parking, I grab Rauls hand and give a little squeeze then let go as the doors open and we are assisted into the car. The nurses help place me into the passenger’s seat as Raul puts the baggage into the back seat "Thank you so much for your help" Raul waves at the nurses as he walk around and then gets into the driver’s seat. We literally crawl home and I start laughing “What are you laughing at?” he looks at me “I think I could walk faster then what we going at the moment” he just winks at me and carries on driving. "While you were in hospital, I got Olivia to help move your things into my apartment, I hope you don't mind?" He actually looks nervous at what my response will be, I shake my head thinking that I can make this beautiful man nervous "that's OK with me" he looks straight ahead and by the way his knuckles are strangling the wheel I know this next change is going to be a doozy "And I um, sold your car and got you a SUV and before you lose it, I think the phrase is, keep in mind that the SUV is safer for the twins and it has power steering and air-conditioning" damit this man doesn't play fair, he knows I was complaining at my Mazda not having those essentials but I can't give in too easily so I give him the silent treatment until we get home then I help Raul carry the items inside but for some reason he didn't let me carry a lot. When we get inside and as I place everything just in the walk way I hug him and say against his chest "thank you for my new car, I'm sure I'll love it"
