She was annoyed, terribly envious that Harvey seemed so taken by that girl. She'd walked away from the brain hurting sight of nervous smiles and glistening eyes. Scarlett decided she would rather spend the few minutes of her free time, sleeping in the library. As she walked past monotonous grey lockers to get to her destination, her journey was cut short because she was suddenly pulled into a dark room. Then she heard a click. The chance to react dramatically was stolen from her because the flicker of light revealed her guilty pleasure.
"What the f**k River." Scarlett said, fuming.
His lips stretched into a cheeky smile. "I scared you right?"
She couldn't believe he had the nerve to even look at her face after last time. Scarlett didn't have the strength or time to deal with him at the moment, so she turned to leave.
"You can't leave," he blurted out.
Scarlett turned to his seemingly regretful eyes. "Why the hell not?"
"Um, well, I need to talk to you-----and I kind off locked the door. He swung the rusty key between his fingers. "I stole it from the janitor," he added.
"Look, I appreciate the effort and all, but I can't be locked in the freaking janitor's closet with you, you know that only ends one way. Also, your presence really irritates me for some reason," she said, scoffing.
"I stopped taking my medication you know," he suddenly said.
Scarlett glanced at him for a moment, her heart melted at the sight of tears forming by the corners of his eyes. He quickly swiped them away, afraid he looked like a wimp.
"I stopped taking them for a long time because they made me feel weak. I know it's not an excuse for what I did to you, not even close, but I wanted to apologize. I'm a f*****g i***t and I'm trash and you deserve better than trash Scar."
"You're not trash River, you're an i***t for sure though." she said.
"Will you forgive me Scar?" He pleaded.
"I need time."
"That's fine."
Their eyes met for a moment, he held the stare long enough to draw closer to her. They were just the right amount of close, enough for Scarlett to see the waves of gold in his green eyes. He ran his tongue over his lips which he knew aggravated her. She scrunched her eyebrows determined to resist the River effect. He was the villain in every story you hated, yet, loved for an unknown reason. He edged closer to her, so close she could feel the rhythmic beat of his heart.
"You were right, us being in the janitor's closet only ends one way," he whispered.
His arms found their way to her waist, possessively wrapping her into a knee-buckling hold. Tired of being subjected to the River effect, she slid her hand around his neck, pulling him to her beguiling clutch.
In a low, sultry tone, she said, "I'm in charge this time."
River let out a guttural groan as their lips met, he hastily slipped his tongue into her mouth tasting every inch of her. Scarlett was well aware she temporarily had him at her fingertip. Feeling a sense of accomplishment, she lightly pushed him against a cabinet. The coldness of the rusty metal seeped into River's skin. This heightened his already frenzied senses.
They kissed like two uncertain teenagers desperate to feel something other than unhappiness.
A series of sinful activities later, Scarlett pushed herself off River's tempting grasp.
"I think school is over." She ran a hand through her hair.
"The bell hasn't ra-" He was interrupted by the obnoxious blare of the bell.
"f**k," he grumbled. "Will you come over?"
"Nope, I'm busy." Scarlett adjusted her skirt.
"Let me guess with Wright. That f*****g loser."
Scarlett turned to face him, with a mischievous glint in her eyes, she smirked. "Oh sweetie, jealousy isn't a good look on you and he won't be a loser when I'm done with him. Now could you unlock the door."
Unwillingly, he trudged to the door and unlocked it.
"If you'll excuse me, I have other horny teenage boys and girls to satisfy." She flipped her rose-scented hair as she walked into a world of mocking whispers complemented with repulsed glances, which inevitably bored her.
"I know they all low-key f*****g love me," she whispered to herself.
