The Immortal 5 The Beginning: Rena's Story

Taking back Omri

She had moved to the window that wasn't broken and looked out. She felt Adrian move up behind her. He wrapped his arms around her and pulled her to his chest. She leaned there absorbing his warmth.

"I never thought of you after those first two hundred years. I never let anyone as close as you until Omri. He is so much like me when I was his age. I want to give him the love I never had from a family. And kali can give him the love of a woman. I can move on even without love in my life I have done it before. You had my love and you will always have it but we are different people. I know nothing about who you have become and you know nothing of who I am now. So after we get my brother back I think you and I need to sit down and talk."

Before he could answer Rena become very still. He always hated that. It always meant she was going to fight someone or something.

He looked at Xander who stared at Riley who was standing still as well. Rena slipped from his arms and was going for her sword when it happened. Guys who were dressed in black stormed into the living room. Rena was rushing the first of them but he unarmed her quickly without even touching his own sword but he never got the chance to harm her. Because she sent him flying across the room. He hit the wall and everybody stopped moving. Some were locked in a physical embrace with fists raised.

"Who wants to be next?" she asked in a calm but deadly voice.

One of the guys in black spoke in a language, no one seemed to understand but Rena. She fired back just as fast using the same language. She turned to Riley and spoke to him.

"They mean us no harm, they are friends, and they are Samurai the last of their kind. They heard I was in trouble and they want to help."

Riley let go of the samurai he was hitting and watched as he hit the floor. Adrian and Xander never moved. As the men removed their masks they looked around the room and stared at Breanna. They said something to Rena and she looked at Breanna as well. She didn’t say anything for a minute.

"Shin says he knows you. He said you are the one they are supposed to look out for. The one that sees the future. They are here to protect you as well. But one thing troubles Shin. How come you’re not a man like the prophecy told of?"

Breanna looked down and her shoulders sagged. When she looked up they saw tears in her eyes.

"I got my gift from my father who had the same gift and it got him killed. I wasn't going to let my power get me killed or have any one killed. I want to help that’s all."

No one spoke and when someone did it was Adrian.

"No one wants anyone to die. I assure you of that. But we all need some sleep for tomorrows events." and everyone agreed. So they all went to their rooms. If they slept it wasn't very much.

They began to plan around what Breanna was telling them. She described the place where he was being held in perfect detail. It was decided that Kali and Breanna stay behind with two of Shin’s men. Xander gave out duties. Riley was supposed to get in and change into a crate that was lining the wall next to where Omri was. He was to listen to the conversation and report back what they were planning. The plan was set for tomorrow night.

The next night they pulled up to the place Breanna had described and she said they'd find Omri. Adrian and Shin had ridden with her. Shin spoke to Rena in Japanese so Adrian wouldn't understand.

"Wakai Ichi, young one, this mission is a dangerous one for all who are involved. I fear that the worst may happen."

Rena nodded as she got out of the car. She knew that someone will die tonight. And she hoped for everyone’s sake the it was only the guys who took Omri. Outside everyone moved to the front of Rena’s car, Rena gave out last minute instructions,

"Ok, we all know what to do. I want a quick clean up these guys. Ok, Riley, you go on and head in, everyone else let’s move into positions. We move when we get the signal from Riley and that is when all hell breaks loose."

They moved away from the car with Rena at the front. She moved away from the group to see if anyone was around the perimeter seeing no one she signaled to the others that the coast was clear. They all spread out in different directions. Rena and Adrian moved up to the front. Adrian grabbed Rena’s arm. He out his finger to his lips to tell her that someone was coming. The guard passed right in front of her. She moved right behind him. The guard never knew what happened to him. Rena put her arms around his neck and twisted it to an ungodly angle until she felt every vertebra that had snapped. The guard went limp in her arms. She laid his body down and moved back to Adrian.

"Remind me never to piss you off." as he spoke he rubbed his neck.

Rena just snickered. Several of the guards were disposed of. They began to make their way into the interior of the building where Breanna said that Omri was being held. Rena looked around and saw Riley had made his way inside. As they waited Rena begun to think about what Breanna said. If she were to die tonight she would at least kicked some serious butt. She looked over to Shin who was watching the door Riley had entered. He must have gotten the go ahead because Shin gave her the go ahead signal. They all moved in quickly.

Inside the building Omri could feel the tension in the air. He could feel the fear in the men in the room. He tried to read their thoughts but they were to chaotic for him to understand the only thing he could understand was the fact that something was outside that had the men in a uproar. They moved with jerky and anxious movements. No control at all. He could feel Rena close by as well. Her calming presence always made him at peace. He knew she was coming. He could feel Riley as well stronger then Rena though. Like he was here with him. But he couldn't tell where. One of the guys was heading in his direction. But someone or something diverted his attention. He watched as the thing cloaked the guard and all Omri saw after that was the man fall to the floor and he looked to be dead. Omri has seen death before and that was what it looked like. The lifeless look in the guards eyes made him shudder.

It all happened so fast, it was like a black cloud materialized out of no where and it was moving fast. Omri felt his hands be freed. But the only thing Omri saw was Rena engaged in a fight with the guy who had tied him up. Her side stepping to avoid a punch. Her leg coming up to block a kick. He watched her train but this was too beautiful. Like a dancer her movements were fluid and graceful. She was trying avoid any direct contact as any samurai would. The room was filling up with moving bodies engaged in a fight of some kind.

Rena’s every thought was trying not to let this pig she was fighting get the upper hand. True he was stronger, but she had more anger and adrenaline in her system for her to back down. She noticed that his movements were hectic. Not controlled at all. He was afraid she could smell it and it drove her on. Her movements though practiced were a second nature to her. She blocked his every move and she blocked her mind from any outside thoughts and concentrated on defeating her opponent. He was getting tired she could she it in his movements they were becoming slower, almost sluggish. Rena knew she could end this anytime. But she wanted to toy with him some more. She tilted her upper body to her left to avoid a very chaotically thrown punch. She saw Omri out of the corner of her eye. She was relieved to see that he was alive.

But the one thing Rena never saw was that another man had come up behind her and she was caught between the two of them. Her opponent rushed her and she tried to move out of the way but was slammed into the other man. She felt the hot searing pain of ripping skin coming from her chest. She looked down at her chest in disbelief to see that there was the tip of a blade sticking out just below her heart. She looked back up to see her opponent smile at her and she smiled back, he was unaware that she still had more than enough strength to snap his neck. She shifted her weight to where it seemed that she was going to fall to her knees so that she could slip behind him. When she slipped behind him and she wrapped her arms around his neck. With the last bit of her strength she jerked her left hand hard. She felt rather then heard the cracking of bones. One by one they shattered and he went down hard with Rena soon following. As she slid to her knees she noticed that breathing was getting more and more difficult. She looked up to see Omri rushing towards her. She fell forward on her side as Omri fell to his knees be side her.

"Rena! Oh god, no, please Rena," he cried seeing the blood ooze from where the blade was stuck.

"Omri, thank the gods that you are alive. I need you to pull the blade out," he started to protest "do it now. It has to come out."

Omri did what Rena said. He wrapped his hand around the handle as he pulled the blade out Rena screamed as the pain seemed to rehashed throughout her entire body. He held it in his hand staring at the blade which was covered in her blood, then he looked at her wound which was allowing her blood to flow more freely. He dropped the blade and

he reached out to cover the wound trying to put pressure on it to make the bleeding stop. But for all his efforts he couldn't make the blood flow to slow or stop.

"Rena, do not die on me. I need you. Please, do not do this to me. I cannot lose you."

Rena reached up to touch his cheek as her hand came away it was wet. She looked up into his eyes and saw the tears there. She tried to smile but it was getting harder to focus on his face.

"I have to go because this life is over for me. I am so glad that you are safe but know that I will return to you my dear brother." she dragged in a ragged breath. "I have found you once I will find you again. Nothing will keep us apart remember that. I am getting cold, so cold"

She stopped speaking. Omri looked down into her face to see that she had grown paler and her eyes had drifted shut. He noticed that her flesh was getting colder as the blood left her body. Omri wrapped her in his arms to make her warmer not caring that he was being covered in her blood. He started rocking back and forth. Not caring who saw the tears fall down his cheeks. He held her willing her not to die.

“I love you Omri. Never forget that." Rena whispered as she fought to take a breath.

"I won't, Rena, I will not forget."

Rena never heard that because she was already gone, her body going limp in his arms. Omri pulled her closer and raised his face to the sky and let out a anguished howl that spoke of all his pain. As he did this Rena’s body begun to disintegrate, the ashes from her body floated to the ground leaving Omri’s' arms to fall to his side. Omri sat surrounded by a pile of dust his arms hung almost lifelessly at his side. He slowly got to his feet making a promise that he would find a way to get her back even if it was only in spirit. Then he felt it the love and warmth that only Rena could project. She was still with him. That thought comforted him slightly. He walked slowly to the others. As he neared the group he felt their grief so strongly that it almost knocked him over.

"She will return, it’s not in Rena’s nature to give up. From her ashes a new life begins." this came from Adrian.
