There was a very strong inkling that led Haley to assume Sam would give her the very answer she had just read. There wasn't really any harm in trying but she found the confirmation to be a little upsetting.
Haley had all day to herself and she meant to spend it with Sam. It just seemed a little unfair that the rest of the student body had the entire Friday to themselves, save for the ones who had part time jobs. The basketball finals victory wasn't as astounding to Haley if Sam didn't get a break.
It was a little too dramatic considering they were only supposed to be apart for four hours. Haley just loved Sam's company and the inability to see her prompted her to just savor the time they have.
