Chapter 13The hotel was as fancy as any other of high-star quality: the dim lighting, the warmish colors, the elegantly patterned carpet, the European-inspired furniture surrounding a large fireplace (a chaise included), and even an ultra-modern bar, among other pretentious features. Gary had to have had a lot of money to afford an immediate flight to Detroit and his stay at a hotel like that one. I wasn’t surprised that he could’ve been mugged if the criminal had been paying attention before striking a victim. I was just deeply sorry it had happened.
