The Facility Part Two

978 Words
Hours later, I woke to the sound of footsteps outside my cell. My head was heavy, my mouth dry, and when I tried to move, I realized my wrists were restrained again. I pulled against the restraints, but they didn’t budge. The door opened, and the facility owner stepped inside, closing it behind him. I watched him with quiet curiosity, studying his movements and committing every detail to memory. He clearly thought he was in control. I couldn’t help wondering how I would kill him when I finally got the chance. He smiled. “Maddox isn't here, and I've sent the guards on their breaks. It's just us here.” I held his gaze, completely calm. “Whatever you’re thinking about doing right now, I’d stop if I were you.” He smiled, his confidence never wavering. “What you don’t know about me is that I always get what I want.” He reached for me, and I jerked away, but his hand caught my jaw. “Don’t f*****g touch me.” I spat straight into his face, and he froze. For several seconds, neither of us moved. Then he slowly wiped the spit from his cheek. “Feisty. I think I’m going to enjoy breaking you in.” His hand closed around my throat, and my back slammed against the wall. I kicked out, catching him hard enough to make him curse, but the drugs were already dragging me down again. “Get the f**k off me!” I twisted against his hold, biting down on his hand when I couldn’t break free. I kicked and clawed, using everything I had to get him away from me, but my rage only grew with every second he held me. I pictured my hands around his throat, my nails digging into his skin as I made him hurt the way he was hurting me. I imagined breaking his fingers one by one, watching the smugness disappear from his face, and making him beg me to stop. Every possibility raced through my mind, each one more brutal than the last. I didn’t know how I’d get the chance, but I swore I would. He would regret ever putting his hands on me. Deep inside, Raven surged beneath my skin, and for the first time in days, I felt her there. She didn’t speak or try to reach me. There was only the same rage coursing through me, the same need to break free. She wanted out, and so did I. His grip tightened around my throat, forcing my head back before he slammed it hard against the wall. Pain burst through my skull, and for a moment, everything around me spun. I fought harder, but he was stronger while I was drugged, and that alone pissed me off. I hated that my body wasn’t moving as quickly as I wanted it to, but I wasn’t about to stop fighting him. All I could do was headbutt him. He reeled backward, and I immediately kicked at him again, determined to keep him away from me. He lunged for me just as the door was thrust open, the force of it sending it crashing against the wall. Maddox stood in the doorway, his expression cold and lethal as his gaze locked onto the man who had his hands on me. The room went deathly still. “Get away from her.” The man straightened. “Maddox, I...” Maddox’s gaze moved from me to the man standing over me, and something in his expression changed. His jaw tightened as he crossed the room, every step controlled, but there was enough fury in his eyes to make even the man in front of him hesitate. “You compromised my mission,” he said, his voice dangerously quiet. “You were told to keep your hands off her.” Maddox stopped inches away before punching the man hard enough to send him crashing into the wall. The man dropped, but when he tried to get back up, Maddox grabbed him by the shirt and drove him back into the floor. Maddox stood over him, he'd barely broken a sweat, and for a moment I thought he was going to kill him. But then, he stepped back. “Get him out of here.” Then two of his men rushed inside and grabbed the facility owner, dragging him toward the door. “Wait, please,” the man gasped. “Take him downstairs and lock him up,” Maddox ordered. “I’ll deal with him when I’m ready.” The men hesitated. Maddox’s expression hardened. “Did I stutter?” They immediately dragged the man from the room as he struggled against their grip. Maddox then turned his attention back to me. I remained pressed against the wall, keeping my breathing steady as I looked at Maddox. His eyes moved over me, taking in the restraints, my dishevelled clothes and the marks left by the man. I straightened as much as the restraints allowed and met his stare calmly. I wasn’t about to let him see how badly I wanted to tear the other man’s head off. Maddox’s gaze lingered on me for a moment before he shook his head. “Everywhere you go, trouble seems to follow.” I glared at him. “f**k you.” I watched his jaw tick as he stared at me. “Get her ready.” One of his men stepped forward. “Sir, we weren’t scheduled to leave until-” “We’re leaving now.” His gaze shifted toward the corridor. “This place isn’t secure anymore.” The man who had just tried to hurt me was gone, but Maddox was still standing in front of me. I had no idea where Maddox was taking me or what he wanted, but whatever came next, I’d handle it
