ELEVEN

Aiden hadn’t left the meeting point the whole time, he did not want to be late and miss seeing her even for a minute. Now he was frustrated because she was almost 30 minutes late and he couldn’t help but wonder if she was with someone else. Anger flourished as he remembered the human’s smell all over her body and he tried to suppress it with logic, but it was pointless. He was beginning to think this was an absurd reaction to the fact that he didn’t have a mate, and he tried to remind himself that he needed to choose one soon. 

“What are you thinking so hard about?”

Olivia startled him, she had approached him so quietly that he did not sense her, her lack of smell also didn’t help. She was unknowingly gracious in her movements, and so beautiful Aiden forgot his frustrations.

“I was thinking you are late!”

She smiled and extended his hand to him, he was sitting on top of a log and she wondered if he had been waiting for her the whole time.

“I am sorry, I had to brief my siblings on the meeting real quick and I didn’t realize what time it was. Are you ready for this? Remember what I told you?”

“Yes, I have briefed Helios and he knows he won’t be able to mindlink Killari or smell a scent on her, so he must not leave her side for his safety. He knows she is the apex predator and that at no cost he should try to ‘boss’ her around in an ‘alpha-like’ manner. Your words.”

Aiden said so, embarrassed that he had condoned this, but Helios had been so insistent that he had to leave pride aside.

Olivia chuckled at the obvious dilemma of conceding to another powerful creature

“Okay, first I must meet Helios”

“That wasn’t part of what we discussed, I thought we would shift at the same time? I don’t think that is safe Olivia, if anything happens I am certain that Killari could put a matching fight, but what if Helios reacts the wrong way? He could hurt you in a split second”

Worried, Aiden did not understand why Olivia wanted to see Helios. Honestly there was no point and he wouldn’t have control.

“Aiden. Are you underestimating me?”

A flicker of yellow passed through her eyes and she let out a small growl. Aiden’s eyes widened and he shook his head vigorously, he did not want to upset her, it seemed she had a switch for it.

“No! Not at all. If you think it's safe then I trust you. I’ll shift first then, just be careful”

He began saying so while he got undressed in front of her

“What are you doing!”

Olivia protested and turned, giving him her back. All he did was chuckle and wonder why she was acting so shy, she didn’t seem like the shy-type to him. 

Why are you so flustered Olivia? You are acting like this is your first time seeing a man

Shut up Killari

Olivia heard bones cracking one minute and the next silence. She turned her head only and peeked to see if Aiden had shifted, and indeed in his place stood a massive gray and white wolf with large eyes. She turned completely and gasped at his size, she had never seen a wolf so large, he was even larger than Killari, close to Nico’s size. 

“Wow buddy you are immense!” 

She gave him a wide smile, and at the sound of her voice he had begun to wag his humongous tail, it looked as solid and twice as thick as a baseball bat. 

Suddenly he stretched his long legs, he leaned his chest down as if he would lay, but he kept his rear end up, tail still wagging in the air.

“What are you doing? A puppy play-bow?!”

Olivia was now worried Helios would accidentally hurt her, he seemed like he wanted to play but he was one massive wolf and her human form was quite small.

“Oh you want to play?”

He gave her a playful bark and she laughed 

“Who is a cute puppy huh?”

Olivia smiled, she knew he wouldn’t like that but teasing him was fun, she knew Aiden would be listening. He barked again, this time a growl accompanied with a whine in response to her. Unexpectedly he launched himself, lounging forward and tackling her. She fell to the ground flat on her back and he stood on top of her, front feet atop of her shoulders and tongue licking across her face.

“Ouch you mutt! Ewwww” 

Olivia wasn’t one bit scared, in fact she liked playing rough, he just didn’t know it yet. He leaned closer to her face, his snout was now so close to her face that she could feel his warmth breathing on her. He started sniffing everywhere, he dug his nose on the side of her face, her hair, he poked her ears and her eyes with his nose and she giggled at the tickling sensation.

“Crazy wolf what are you doing?!” 

She then slid one hand behind his ear and the other around his neck while she was still laying on her flat back with the wolf on top. She scratched and massaged under his fur while he continued to try and smell her, attempting to pick up a scent that wasn’t there.

“You can’t smell me silly. It’s impossible”

He then stopped sniffing her and instead placed his nose on hers, looking at her intently with sad wolf-eyes. Olivia suddenly felt his pain, his loneliness and the yearning for a mate that he couldn’t seem to find. If she let him smell her, he would want her just because it was a choice made for them, not because he actually wanted her, Olivia. Pain filled her too, and she decided she was ready to hide in the back of her mind. It was time to shift.

“Okay crazy-one let me get up so you can meet Killari”

Helios jumped off of her with excitement and began to wag his tail again, running in circles around her.

“Okay silly you have to turn around, I don’t want Aiden peeking!”

The wolf complied and gave her his back, tail still wagging and sniffing the air for the first time for prey.

Bones cracked and the ground shifted, Killari stood in Olivia’s place watching the back of a wolf that was slightly larger than her.

Larger??

HA-HA jokes on you Killari!

You weren’t kidding, he didn’t look as big from the back seat of our mind!

Yea well, we could still beat his ass

With that, Killari approached Helios silently, a stealthy movement meant to startle. When she was close enough to pounce he turned and tried to jump her first, but she moved to the side and circled behind him, pouncing again and knocking him down. He rolled to the side, not allowing her to stay overtop of him. He stood back up and nudged her sides with his head, and then his snout trying to smell her. She began to circle him slowly, prancing around him with her tail up and her body stretching around him, letting him sniff her.

Helios whined, he felt impossibly defeated that he could not smell either of them, and he had an immense urge to do so.

Killari sensed Helios’ frustration and moved closer to him, rubbing her body across his. She walked towards his face and rubbed her whole head and face along his as she purred.

Killari was done with Olivia and blocked her out, but she was right, they needed to start their search. It seemed that Helios enjoyed the proximity so she gave him a massive lick in the face, which he returned with warmth.

Killari nudged him and gestured to follow her. He complied and strutted along her, both venturing deep into a sea of green.

Olivia woke up to her stomach rolling and bubbling in pain, she wondered what on earth Killari ate. She rolled from her side to her back and the movement made her realize she lay naked on the ground. She turned her head and saw Aiden next to her, asleep, and also naked. She froze.

Woah! Killari what the s**t? When did we shift back? What happened?..Fuck I need clothes. 

Killari roared with laughter at the image and at Olivia’s dilemma

We were just so tired that we fell asleep. I gave you control back just a bit ago when I felt you start to awaken. Not my fault you shift on your sleep. Not sure when Helios gave Aiden control back.

Killari became frustrated again and she growled at Olivia in their mind, she decided she did not want to cooperate either.

The jaguar locked herself in, and now Olivia had to either leave Aiden laying there alone and hope he didn’t wake before she returned or face him while they were both naked. She was still laying on her back and had not moved, scared he would wake up. She took a deep breath and his smell was ecstasy to her senses, it filled her heart in ways she never knew possible. She decided to turn to her side again, but this time she was facing him. 

Olivia analyzed every inch of his face, and she thought she could watch him sleep forever.
