The wind howled angrily as Kaianne cried out in pain, the sky as dark as her hopeless eyes, “Stop it!” Her screams echoed through the silent forest as her captor, Martin skillfully sliced her delicate skin starting at her temple, She tried to fight him off but she was too weak in her current state, he held her down as he moved the blade further down her skin until he reached the end of her middle finger. 

A sadistic smile crossed his face as he grabbed a handful of her hair, pulling her close enough so he could whisper into her ear. “Such a good girl for me, may this always remind you that you are mine.” 

He then tossed her back onto the ground before tightening the silver collar around her neck and retying it to the tree she had been tethered to for months. 

“I’ll never be yours.” She spat at him, causing a sinister smile to cross his scarred face. “You’ll always be mine, my sweet angel.” He admired her naked body one last time before turning around and walking into the rundown shack he called home.

As soon as he left her sight, she curled up into the fetal position, letting sobs shake her body, letting the rain cry with her, and letting the wind shout out in pain alongside her.

She didn’t know that the weather change was her fault, All she knew was that she was all alone.

Martin carved out that same cut everyday for 5 months, he called her his canvas, his angel. He did unfathomable things to her. Kaianne vowed to never let another man touch her the way he had, She vowed that she would take vengeance on anyone who ever hurt her, and she promised herself and the moon goddess that one day she’ll be free and clear the world of tainted souls and protect the innocents…

Kaianne’s pov

I clutched my chest and leaned against the wall as the memory of his hands all over me flooded into my mind, followed by his words. “You’ll never be free from me, I’ll always find you angel” 

“Kai?” Zaiden startles me as he walks up to me causing me to flinch. I ignore him, trying to get my breathing under control. “Are you okay?” He asks.

“Go away” I snap at him as more images plague my mind.

He touches my shoulder causing my powers to push out on their own will, throwing him down the hallway like a ragdoll.

“Oh god, I’m so sorry! I didn’t mean to!” My panic was worsening, I just hurt my mate. Oh my god I just threw the king down the hall, He quickly gets up to his feet before rushing over to me, I back away quickly. “I really didn’t mean to” Tears start falling down my face.

“Hey, hey. It’s okay, It was an accident, Just breathe.” He tries to sooth me. “It isn’t okay! I’m not okay! I can’t do this!” I yell at him before taking off down the empty hallway, thankful people are at the ball and not out here.

I turn a corner and fall onto my hands and knees, gasping for air but my lungs never being satisfied, as Master Martin's sick promises echo in my head and the feeling of his hands all over my body. 

I notice Zaiden crouched in front of me, with worry in his eyes as his lips are moving, but I can’t hear anything as his face becomes blurry and then I see him, a few feet behind Zaiden stands Master Martin, the same sadistic smile on his face as last time, when he claimed my body and tried to declare me his…”I told you I’d find you” He mouths….

He was the last thing I saw before everything went black...

“Mommy!” A little boy runs up to me and jumps into my arms, smiling widely, causing me to laugh. “Hey little wolf, where’s your sister?” I ask, hugging him tightly. 

“She wanted to stay and train with the other kids and daddy but I wanted to come see you so aunty Ellie brought me here” He smiles brightly at me as I walk us over to the couch and sit down. “So you missed me?” I ask my sweet little wolf causing him to nod frantically. He’s such a momma's boy. “How much?”

His arms reach out in opposite directions, as far as they can go. “This much.” I smile and shake my head. “That’s so much baby” 

“A whole lot mommy” He grins as he hugs me again. “I love you so much mommy.” 

“I love you too little wolf” I smile as I return his hug. 

“Mama! Mama! Dadda taught me how to break someone’s nose!” My daughter runs in giggling with her father close behind her. I raise my eyebrow at him and he throws his hands up in surrender. “She’s been bugging me about it for a week.” I shake my head at him as I put my little wolf down, “Sunshine come here” I say as I crouch down to her height. “I know how much you love to train, but you can’t ever hurt someone who doesn’t hurt you first, even then, if you can, tell a teacher. Violence is a last resort, okay?” 

“I know mama, I never wanna hurt someone, I just wanna be scary so kids don’t pick on me anymore, cause I have weird eyes. They pick on both of us.” She looks down at the floor, causing my heart to constrict painfully. “Oh honey, your eyes aren’t weird, neither of yours are, They’re beautiful, handsome and unique. The other kids just don’t understand that you’re special. Both of you are so special.” I explain, while hugging them both to me before standing up. “Hello mon lune” I greet my husband finally, placing a sweet kiss on his lips. “I want more” I smile sweetly before heading to the kitchen…

As I enter the kitchen it transforms into a dark forest. A girl with white hair, pale skin and eyes endlessly blue, stood a few feet away from me. “This is what you’ll lose if you give up” Her voice came out soft and mythical, almost otherworldly.

“I’m just so tired” A tear escapes as my reality comes back.

“I know you are my child but you are a true warrior, you can do this, believe in your mate, believe in yourself. I made Zaiden your mate for a reason, and I know what you went through, I heard all your prayers and promises. You need to let go of the past, You have it in you, You will come back stronger from this.”

“How can I let go? After everything they took from me, how!” I snap at her, tears streaming down my face in full force as the wind picks up.

“Because you hold more power than anyone. You have twins, a boy and a girl in your womb who will need their mother, you have a future, a family to fight for Kaianne. So fight for them if not yourself. Let go for them.” She smiles at me before placing a hand on my cheek. “I, The moon goddess, Selene bless this wolf with the strength she will need to overcome her past and swear to bless her bloodline” She whispers before disappearing into the night, leaving me alone staring off into the distance.

I look down at my stomach, my baby bump still not showing. I place both my hands on it. “I’ll do better, I’ll be what you need, I promise.” I close my eyes as the wind ruffles my hair and caresses my skin. “I promise."
