Zaiden's pov

As soon as I open the door to Kai's hospital room I freeze, feeling fear coming off of her in waves as she thrashes around on the hospital bed.

"No! Stop it, I'm sorry, I'm so sorry!" She screams, causing me to rush over to her, placing my hands on her shoulders while gently shaking her. "Wake up ma coeur, you're safe, you're okay here, I promise."

"Stop it! Stop it! Stop it" she cries as she continues to thrash around.

I shake her a little harder causing her eyes to snap open, without having a second to prepare I'm thrown into a wall, my body frozen in place by an invisible barrier. "Kai, it's me Zaiden, your mate. Calm down, you're safe" I keep my voice soft so I don't scare her. The barrier releases me as she shifts into her wolf, shocking me at how quickly she did it. 

I look over at her wolf, its eyes glowing purple and its fur pitch black. "Saffron, it's okay. I'll never harm you." 

She whimpers and lays down on the floor, baring her neck in submission. "You don't have to apologize. Let Kai come back so I can talk to her." I sit down on the floor in front of her.

She growls protectively at me, trying to shield Kai from the pain she's feeling. "Okay, okay. I'll let you protect her, I'll take you guys to your new room okay? You just have to follow me." I state softly as I slowly rise to my feet again, grabbing the bag of clothes. She stands on her four paws and gives me as much of a nod as a wolf can. "Thank you Saffron, for protecting her." I say genuinely as we leave the hospital room and go to the front desk. 

The receptionist gives Kaianne a weary glance before addressing me. "Good afternoon your majesty, how can I help you?"

"Glenda, I've told you before you can just call me Zaiden." I smile at her, causing saffron to let out a low growl. "Stop being jealous, Saffron, I'm just being nice" I pause, giving her a reassuring look. "I'd like to sign the discharge papers for Kaianne." 

She smiles nervously. "Of course your majesty.” She reaches under the desk and gets the proper forms and hands them to me, I quickly fill them out, and tell her to have someone deliver the proper medication to my office before motioning for Saffron to follow me. 

"Do you wanna go straight to your room or somewhere else?" I ask her, hoping I can make sense of her answer. 

She tilts her head before sniffing the air, trying to decide what to do. 

After a few moments her tail starts wagging and motions me to follow her, so I do. She leads me to our blood rose garden that surrounds a lake and starts yipping happily while hopping around and chasing a pink butterfly, causing a chuckle to escape me. "You like roses and butterflies huh?" I ask.

She yips again and starts bouncing around me playfully. 

"Do you want me to shift too?" I ask, she follows up with an excited yip. That's definitely a yes. "Okay give me a minute, I'm just going behind that tree over there to get undressed. She bounds off into the roses, playfully barking at the butterflies. I just smile and shake my head before going over to the tree and placing the bag on the ground before undressing quickly and shifting and giving control to Jax. 

I watch as he excitedly runs to where we last saw her but starts whimpering when he can't find her, he starts looking around frantically, thinking we lost our mate again when out of nowhere she pounces at us, knocking us over and happily yipping at us. Jax decides to lick her cheek causing her to jump off us and actually look at us. 

Before I know it she's a very naked Kaianne standing in front of us, wide eyed and in awe. Jax puffs his chest out proudly as she stares at us.

"It's you" she whispers. "You're real" 

She looks down and realizes that she has no clothes on and quickly covers herself with her hands and drops to the ground. “Um- uh. Do you have any clothes for me?” She asks, a deep blush on her cheeks

I took control again and ran over to the tree before shifting and putting on my clothes. I grabbed the bag and brought it over to her, when she took it I turned around to give my beautiful mate some privacy. “Thank you loup de rêve”

“Dream wolf?” confusion evident in my voice.

“Yes, I dreamt of you for a year before we met.” She admits.

“That rogue..” I trailed off, remembering the footage of her and that rogue, she acted differently after killing him, she slept more, seemed more peaceful.

“What do you mean?” She asks. “I’m dressed now, you can turn around”

“Oh. Let’s go to your room and I’ll tell you everything.” I say as I start walking away, hoping she’ll follow me. Sighing inwardly, I shake my head. “This is gonna be a long talk.”

I feel her following me although she stays quiet, I can also feel her panic and her anger but it’s not directed towards me thankfully…

Kaianne's pov

“That rogue..” He whispers, but with my heightened senses I was able to hear it, His brows furrowed and he seemed lost in thought

“What do you mean?” I demand while putting the black yoga pants he gave me on, along with a deep red turtleneck and red flats. “I’m dressed now, you can turn around”

“Oh. Let’s go to your room and I’ll tell you everything.” he says as he starts walking away, “This is gonna be a long talk.” 

I silently follow him, anger coursing through my veins towards the king for making me do the things he did, panic at the thought Zaiden could know about what I’ve done and making me leave because of it or worse, making me go back…

I follow him through the hallways, memorizing each step so I can escape if I need to, I’ve been a prisoner twice, never again will I be one. I promised Saff I would protect us and I refuse to go back on that promise.

“We’re here, this is your new room” He says, opening the door and leading me into the biggest space I’ve ever been able to call mine. I feel my eyes widen as I look around the room, The walls are a forest green with chestnut flooring, a giant green four poster canopy bed with brown detailing and green drapes, There's 2 doors on either sides of the giant bed, I’m assuming one is the bathroom and the other is a closet, There’s also a sitting area with brown couches, chairs and a huge flat screen tv. 

Zaiden ends up sitting in one of the chairs before ushering me to sit anywhere, I walk over and decide to sit in the chair across from him so I can have some space while we have this talk.

I just hope he doesn't know..
