The surprise

I finally woke up at 9am, feeling drained and numb, I laid in bed for a half hour before I dragged my tired body to the closet, pulling on a loose pink v-neck t-shirt and some black yoga pants before putting on some black flats, quickly throwing my hair into a messy bun and walking to my door, opening it and being greeted by Rayne and Zaiden. “You ready?” Zaiden smiles, I just nod, not saying a word and numbly following them, not paying attention to their conversation or where we were headed. 

I just felt so empty today, almost like existing is not worth it but giving up would let him win, let him know he haunts my dreams, that he still has control over me, even if he isn’t around. 

How can I live knowing he could be around any corner? That he could come here and take me if he wanted. Zaiden says the whole kingdom would protect me and die for me because I will be their queen but I wouldn’t be able to let that happen, I don’t want anyone to die for me, It would break me if they gave up their lives for me. I want to protect them, but how can I when I’m so weak? 

“We’re here” Rayne speaks softly, startling me out of my thoughts. I nod and follow them into the room.

Doctor mark came in shortly after we got settled and made me pee in a cup before taking some blood and sending both samples out with a nurse. 

“Do you want a female doctor? If not, I’ll have to touch your bare stomach to estimate the size of the pup and then use an ultrasound to determine how far along you are. I don’t think a vaginal exam will be needed today but you should set one up with a female doctor.” 

I nod, taking in the information. “Just get it over with, all of it.”

Zaiden’s pov

Doc ushered us out of the room so he could examine Kai in private but said he'd wait to do the ultrasound until we were back in the room. 

I'm worried about Kai though. She's been quiet and acting off, she didn't join our conversation and just was very distant with us and I can't help but wonder if it has anything to do with yesterday…

**flashback starts**

I look over at my men who are training, making sure their form is correct, and correcting them when needed when the wind picks up heavily as the sky darkens. "Training is over, a storm is coming, go inside." I command using my alpha tone, they all nod and start to leave when my beta mind-links me 

"We're at the garden at the edge of the forest and something is wrong with kai" her voice is filled with panic, causing my inner wolf to growl loudly, worried for our mate. "What do you mean? I'm on my way." 

"I don't know! She was fine but then she froze and her eyes started glowing purple! And now the weather is a mess, is she doing this?" She exclaims in her panic. 

"Keep a safe distance and tell me what caused this" I respond, rushing towards where they are. 

"I don't know! I called Kinsley my little warrior like I always do and she just stopped being mentally present and I think she was panicking by the way she was acting but then she just froze! And her eyes, You can't let anyone else see her like this, only me, Dakota, Rosalie and Kinsley are here with her. But she isn't a normal werewolf" she explains. 

Another growl escapes me as I use my supernatural speed, rain starts pouring heavily, making it hard to see in front of me. 

No where in the books does it say that she can control weather so what the hell is going on? I need queen Savina to respond to me already god dammit. 

I finally reached the garden and immediately saw Kaianne sitting on the bench, frozen in place, her hair fanned out around her magically while her eyes glowed an eerie purple. 

His little warrior is what he called her a lot, that or mutt so she probably is having a flashback and can't control herself, I kneel down infront of her letting her know she was safe and okay, her glowing purple eyes snapped to mine and they started to fade back to her normal violet ones before she collapsed and passed out, I held her bridal style and rushed her to her room, laying her in her bed, sitting there for hours hoping she'd wake up, when she didn't I called in doc and he said she was okay, just needed rest so we both left. But when she did calm down earlier the weather went back to being nice meaning it was her who did that but how? 

I wrote a letter to Queen Savina, sending my best warrior to deliver it. We need answers now..

**flashback ends**

I'm expecting queen Savina's letter or arrival soon, hopefully giving us some answers. I don't think Kaianne is a full werewolf but that would mean either king Alfred is lying, or one of her parents aren't actually a wolf. 

How can I protect Kaianne if I know nothing? And our pup…

“You guys can come in now.”  Doc tells us before leading us into the room, having the equipment already set up.

I look over at kaianne noticing she’s in a hospital gown and has a blanket covering her lower half as she stares blankly at the ceiling.

“Okay so, I have to put some gel on your stomach and It will be cold, okay?” Doc informs her, she just nods before lifting her shirt, revealing her stomach, My eyes go straight to all the scars that litter her pale skin and frown before looking back at her, She refuses to look at anyone and just stares blankly at the ceiling. And that's when we all heard it, two heart beats….

Kaiannes eyes widen as she looks over to the screen. “There’s two?” 

A giant smile spreads across My mothers face and I just stare at the screen in astonishment, Two small little beans appear in the imaging. 

I look over to Kaianne, wanting to see her reaction to find her looking at me with tears falling down her face. “We’re having twins” 

“We are” I smile at her, my heart feeling as if it would burst if I got any happier.

“You’re okay with it?” Her soft voice fills my ears.

“More than okay.” I reach over to hold her hands in mine, and she lets me, the brightest smile I’ve ever seen on her lips. “They're really ours, we’re going to be parents. I’m going to be a mom!” She says excitedly as she looks back at the screen

“And you’re 12 weeks along, not 6. You should be showing in a few weeks, especially since you’re having twins.” Doc informs us, causing her smile to widen. “How long until we can tell their gender?” She asks, causing my mom and doc to laugh. “Not for a while yet.”

She frowns. “How will I name them, then?” She tilts her head in confusion, causing me to smile. “You pick out names you like for both male and female and then wait.” 

She nods thoughtfully before looking at me. “We have lots of names to go through now” I smile at her. “We do”

My heart warms at how involved she wants me to be, My wolf howls and yips happily in my mind. ‘We’ll protect and love them like they’re ours’ he says and I nod in agreement.

“I love them.” Kaianne whispers to herself, her eyes widening.

“I love them!” She exclaims happily, a slight glow emitting from her skin, causing me to look at her in awe.

“I didn't know if I was capable of love, I was so worried I couldn’t love our people but I can, And maybe one day I can love you too” she smiles sweetly as a single tear escapes her eye.

“I never doubted that you could love, I know you’ll be an excellent mom, queen and hopefully wife one day.” I smile at her as I wrap my arms around her, hugging her.

“I think I might like that, one day.” She smiles again, returning my hug.
