" Please pickup my phone " I continued to dial her number but not once she received it.
Right now I am at the bus stop , I know what I am doing is wrong . I shouldn't be out this late but if I don't pick up Mannat from her friend's birthday party and if Ammi finds out , the dam will break in the house.
The street is quiet, and seems like it is dead. The sounds I can hear are the leaves rustling in the breeze, and the pitter-patter sounds of raindrops falling on the ground. Together, they compose a brilliant song of nature. No din from the high-school students, no irritating noise from the car. No one, not even a soul dares to make a sound to disturb this moment. Everything is silent, as if it isn't even alive,
" Common.... please come fast " I tried to call my uber driver .
I felt really scared ... .This is the first time I came out alone this late . If Ammi , Abbu finds out I am doomed .
" Why have you been so silly Mannat? " I murmured , feeling anxious . cold spiders like fingers racing up and down my spine. thousands of questions prowling through my mind.
" Ya Allah pak please protect me and Mannat please " I beg .
Suddenly I saw a drunk man coming my way , his feets were twisting from left to right , cannot even walk straight .
Too overwhelmed with terror to move
Blood drained from my face .
He came in front of me , I know he cannot see my face because I am wearing a niqab but still the way his eyes tried best to scan me from head to toe made me want to vomit .
" What are you doing alone , in such a dark night " he slurred . My grip on the back strip tightens .
" Go- go away " with a fearful voice I started to walk ahead .
" Arai where are you going let me drop you " he started to follow me and my leg took a speed .
" Please leave me " I shouted running fast .
'' How can I leave a girl alone at night , I will give you good company " his slurred voice made me feel more disgusted .
I ran like my life depended on it , I could see his trace leaving behind but the moment I saw in the front a bright light shot my eyes almost making me blind .
" NO !" I scream at the top of my lungs covering my face ready to get hit .
The car stopped exactly an inch away from my knees .
After a few seconds I heard the car door shut .
" Are you okay ma'am " I heard his deep dark voice and my heart drop .
" No ...no.... No... out of everyone not him please" I removed my hand , his striking handsome face appeared in front of my eyes ..
Zunaid ??
How can anyone be this handsome all the time? Sometimes I feel like zombie and here he is posing like a model 24 hours .
" Ma'am " I felt a little relieved , Alhumdulillah my face was covered . He didn't recognise me at all .
" You okay? " his concerned voice asked again .
I nodded not wanting to voice out.
" Look, it's quite late , let me drop you. '' My eyes widened .
" No no it's okay " I immediately refused, only to cover my mouth .
What the hell is wrong with you Samiya...why why why... do you have to do this ...
" Samiya ?" a look of puzzlement crossed his face.
I shook my head in a negative way several times .
I am nothing but an idiot...
" Samiya, is this you ?" He questioned again, stepping a little closer .
My heart is pounding inside of my chest . If he knew why I am out this late ... he will surely kill Mannat . He already hates her guts .
Well, I thought, er...I don't really know," I bit my lips .
he paused and thought for a moment then his expression changed into anger .
" Why are you here? " His soft voice switched to a hard one , the one I always get scared off .
" Ju- just for a walk" I lied .
He stood, their fists clenched by his sides, and rolled his shoulders back, glaring at me " 'Care to say that again?''
I could hear the warning in his voice that if I lied again . I am going to see his worst side .
" Mannat went to a birthday party without informing anyone . If Ammi finds out then there will be a big fight between them .... so I was going to pick Mannat before anyone. It's fine out" I I vomit everything in front of him at jet speed .
He turned around his back facing me , I could his body stiff at her name .
" that spoils brat " he hisss those words angrily with so much venom in them .
" I will drop you home then I will find that brat " he turned around facing me .
" But " I wanted to oppose .
" The conversation is over " he raised his hand then opened the door for me .
Knowing his personality I quietly got inside .
All I could think of was who could save Mannat from his wrath now .
