Taehyung and his aunt were seated at the dinner table. Although she was technically his aunt from his father’s side, it was Sehee who had taken care of Taehyung ever since he was little because of his mother’s illness.
“Aunt, I kept telling you to stay here, but you never listened. Still, I’m happy now that you finally decided to stay here… even if it’s with this idiot.”
Taehyung said, pointing at Jimin, who was walking toward them down the stairs while drying his wet hair with one hand. Jimin was the son of Sehee and her husband, Park Dalpo. Although Taehyung and Jimin were cousins, and Jimin was a few months older than him, the two were as close as best friends. In fact, Jimin was Taehyung’s only real friend. And it was the same for Jimin.
Nia was Jimin’s younger sister. She was currently abroad with their father for a business matter.
“I told you, Mom. I can’t live under the same roof as this guy. But you never listen.”
Jimin complained dramatically to Sehee.
“Oh please, get lost you brat.”
“Why? Why, huh? I’m taking Mom with me too, just so you know.”
“ Aunt loves me more than you. She’d never leave me, right Aunt?”
Sehee simply smiled while watching the two boys bicker.
“Alright, alright. Both of you eat first. I’ll go feed Nooya"
By 'Nooya' Sehee meant Taehyung’s mother.
“Taehyung-ah.”
The silence that settled after Sehee left was broken by Jimin.
“Mm, what?”
“Jeon's definitely not going to accept that proposal. The reason he asked for time is because he’s planning something shady.”
“I know that too. No matter how many business deals I offer him, he refuses to become partners with us. He’s scared I’ll take back the profits he stole from my father. That’s why he keeps finding excuses to reject every proposal.”
“I figured that out too. That’s why I came up with an idea for a proposal he won’t be able to reject.”
As Jimin spoke, Taehyung placed his chopsticks onto the plate and turned toward him with one eyebrow raised. Jimin couldn’t help but smile because he could already imagine Taehyung’s reaction to what he was about to say.
“What is it?”
“Let’s send a marriage proposal for Jeon's eldest daughter.”
“To who? You?”
“Are you crazy, i***t? Not me. You.”
Correcting Jimin’s words, Taehyung slammed both hands onto the table and stood up abruptly.
“I don’t even want a single person with that bastard’s blood anywhere near me, Jimin. And now you’re telling me to bring one of them into my house?”
“Taehyung, just listen to me for a sec—”
“Drop this conversation right now, Jimin.”
It wasn’t hard for Jimin to realize that was Taehyung’s final warning.

Next Day
Waking up early in the morning, Saemi took a shower and headed to the kitchen, planning to make herself a cup of coffee before Yura woke up. But the moment she stepped into the kitchen, she saw a figure that visibly flinched upon seeing her.
“D..a...d.”
“Mm.”
Ignoring Saemi completely, Minho walked past her and left. Saemi stared at him with teary eyes.
'I’m seeing you after an entire month, Dad… Don’t you even have a single thing to say to me?'
Saemi questioned silently in her heart while watching him walk away.
'She’s just like you, Jiya…'
Minho muttered inwardly too. Jiya, Saemi’s mother, had died twenty-three years ago. Since Saemi looked exactly like her mother, Minho hated seeing her because every time he looked at Saemi, he was reminded of Jiya. That was why his eyes always trembled whenever he saw her.
“Good morning, sissy.”
“Good morning, Kookie. Don’t you have lectures today?”
“I do… but I don’t feel like going.”
“Why?”
“Mmm… if I had to explain the reason…”
Jungkook began speaking while taking a banana milkshake from the refrigerator and sipping on it, while Saemi prepared her coffee.
“I just felt lazy. That’s all.”
“Don’t lie, Kookie.”
“How can you say that, sis?”
“Say what?”
“That I’m lying.”
“Because I’m your sister.”
Saemi said while ruffling Jungkook’s hair as he leaned against the pantry.
“I don’t feel like going to university this whole week, sissy.”
Jungkook spoke with his gaze lowered. Saemi looked at him carefully.
“She’s not coming to university this week either… so I don’t feel like going.”
As Jungkook admitted it, a small smile appeared on Saemi’s lips.
“By ‘she,’ do you mean that selfie girl?”
When Saemi asked, Jungkook’s eyes immediately lifted toward her, accompanied by an embarrassed smile.
“Her?”
Saemi asked again.
“Mm… her.”
Jungkook answered with a small nod.
“Why is sh—”
“Jungkook!”
The conversation between Saemi and Jungkook was interrupted by a voice calling out from the living room.
