Cain’s POV
Someone was after Ava Monroe. That much was no longer a guess.
I had seen the fear radiating off her back at the store. The tension in her body. The way she had suddenly wanted to leave that place as fast as possible.
When we returned to The Pit, I pulled over right in front of the entrance.
She still looked shaken. Quiet.
I didn’t bother questioning her.
She clearly had no intention of telling me anything.
The second I handed her the chance to leave, she practically rushed inside after giving me back the helmet.
