Cain’s POV
The familiar scent of whiskey, beer and cigarette smoke greeted me the moment I stepped into The Pit. After the chaos at the shopping mall, the bar almost felt peaceful. Music drifted from the old speakers behind the counter. Most of the club had gathered around the largest table in the middle of the room, drinking and talking loudly enough for the entire bar to hear them.
The moment I walked in, every pair of eyes landed on me.
Rafe was the first to grin. “There he is.”
Knox leaned back in his chair with a mischievous smile. “Something happened between you and the ladies?”
“They came in,” Drex added. “Walked straight past us like we suddenly became invisible.”
