Jasmine’s POV:
We went straight to our lockers as we entered the school to gather the books we needed for first period. As I was standing by my locker and collecting the books I needed for math, I got this very strong, weird feeling that someone was watching me. I started looking around the hallway to check. All I could see was other students passing by, talking to eachother, standing by their lockers. Just the usual. When I was about to turn around again I noticed a boy, standing about 22 feet away, looking at me. My breath got cought in my throat. He was extremely handsome. He was leaning against a locker, probably his, in a pair of black skinny jeans and a black t-shirt. He looked tall, probably around 6 feet 2 inches, if I had to guess. He had medium dark brown hair that was shorter on the sides and a little longer at the top. From where I was standing it looked like he had deep brown eyes. He’s definitely older, a senior. His looks and the way he stared at me sent shivers
down my spine. But he gave me a bad vibe. He was standing with two other guys and some girls, all looking kind of dark. His gaze hypnotized me, I couldn’t look away. And just before it got too intense…
«Earth to Jasmine! Where did you go?»
A voice snapped me back to reality.
«What?» I asked kind of dumbfully.
«You just zoned out on us» Sophie said as she tired to look in the direction where my gaze was just locked. Looking back at me with forrowed brows in confusion.
«What where you looking at?» Ella asked me as she as well tried to figure out why I suddenly went to a world of my own.
«Who is that guy over there?» I asked instead of really answering their questions. Both of them followed my gaze back to the mysterious dark stranger.
«Wich one are you referring to?» Sophie asked as there was a whole group of people standing where we were watching.
«The one that is dressed all black» I replied, never taking my eyes of him.
«Oooooh that one» Sophie said while giving me a slight smirk before continuing «That’s Elijah Hendrix. He’s a senior. He’s called the schools bad boy. From what I’ve heard he’s been in multiple fights and always wins, he’s gotten expelled more than once for inapropriate behaviour, he’s skipping classes ALL the time, he had to switch school and ended up here, but he’s been here for a while now. Apparently he smokes and I’ve heard that he’s slept with almost half the girls in school. He’s got BAD written all over his forehead. Trust me, you don’t want to get in his way»
Of corse she knew who it was, Sophie knows something about everyone. As i was listening to Sophie going on about everything she knew about this Elijah guy, i couldn’t help but stare at him. I mean sure he gave me a bad vibe, but somehow the information I was getting didn’t sit well with me, there was something about the way he was looking at me that made me want to get to know him.
But I was not gonna act on this feeling, he looks like trouble, and that’s the last thing I wanna be looking for. And just as my train of thoughts stopped, the bell to first period went off. I said bye to Sophie and Ella and walked straight to math class.
1th period was pretty uneventful, except for the shocking realization that the mysterious Elijah was sharing this class with me. Didn’t Sophie say he’s a senior? He sertanly don’t look like a junior. But what do I know? I’ve never even seen him before, not that I can remember anyway. After math I was pretty exhausted, and no it wasn’t because of the class. For almost the entire period I’m being stared down by Elijah. I can feel his eyes bore into the back of my head. I couldn’t concentrate for the entire class.
And finally after what felt like an eternity, the bell rang again and it was time for second period. As I was making my way towards US History, my mind once again wandered to the mysterious dark stranger, what was he doing in junior math? Why is he always staring? Have I met him before? My train of thoughts stopped as I entered 2nd period. I took my usual seat next to Ella as we’re sharing this class.
«Hey, how was 1st period» she whispered as I sat down beside her.
«It was pretty exhausting» I sighted and gave her a tired smile.
«Already?» she giggled before continuing «We just started»
«Not like that, I’m not exhausted because of math» I laughed back as she thought I was tired after only one period.
«Then what has stolen all your energy?» she asked with her tone now full curiosity.
«I was being stared down by a sertain mysterious guy» I whispered this part extra lowly as our teacher Mrs.White entered the classroom. Mrs.White is our really strict US History teacher, she’s in her late 50’s with light grey hair that’s pulled up in a tight bun and black glasses. She’s got that strict teacher look.
«Wait Elijah was in your math class?» Ella asked kind of surprised, looking as confused as I felt.
«Yeah, didn’t Sophie say he’s a senior?»
«She did, but there might be different reasons to why he was there… maybe if he got expelled and ditched a lot of classes like Sophie said, he hadn’t participated in enough classes to pass, or maybe he failed his PSAT test and has to take it this year?»
My thoughts were racing with the possibilities and options Ella was presenting to me, and just as I was about to reply, Mrs. White started talking.
«Maybe you want to save the conversation for lunch break? Unless you would like to discuss it over detention?»
That’s when I realized that Mrs.White was standing and glaring right in front of us as the class was silentley watching. Well… this is kind of awkward.
«Sorry Mrs.White» we replied in unison while embarrasily looking down. Mrs.White continued teaching and Ella and me stayed quiet for the rest of the class, only talking when asked to.
After the embarrassing class of US History, we made our way to the lacrosse field waiting for Sophie. Yeah I probably forgot to mention that I’m playing on the schools junior lacrosse team. It’s mandatory for the students to join a sports team or a club the school «offers». And in a weak point of my life during sophomore year, I agreed to join the lacrosse team by the request of Sophie.
Do I regret it? E v e r y s i n g l e d a y. So here I am, standing in a ridiculously short outfit, about to get my ass kicked. Did I forget to mention I suck? Oh well. And just to my luck, we were joining practice with the seniors lacrosse team, and guess how plays there? Dingdingding, Olivia Sinclair and her delightful minions. Kill me now.
As the coach enters the field with som information on todays practice, my gaze aimlessly wanders around the field, and just as we’re about to start my gaze locks on a group of guys sitting on the bleachers. One guy in particular. There he is, sitting there looking illegaly handsome. Liam Jones. The captain of the football team and yeah, my crush. I can feel my heart racing, my legs shaking and my palms sweating. Oh lord, he’s about to see me at my worst.
Not like he’s gonna notice me though. And as if he’s heard my thoughts, our eyes lock, and I freeze on my spot. Oh god, is he actually looking at me right now? Do I wave? Smile? But before I get to do anything at all, his expression changes, he looks between me and something else, his brows forrows and he mouthed something to me. My god! Is he trying to talk to me? And just like that I’m being snapped back to reality just as I’m being knocked to the ground. Then everything went black.
