Tatiana
Chapter 3
A week has passed since I came to the States, and since the… dinner incident as Anders liked to call it so as not to disrespect me nor his employer, so yeah, fair enough.
Isabelle and I spent most of the time outside the mansion, going shopping and being introduced to the compound where we lived, but that wasn't the highlight of it all.
The f*****g highlight was that today I was going to start my first day at the ‘Morion Academy’ Which, by the way, was funded by The Ellis family and the rest of the families who held power the same way ours did.
And I had to study the origins of this academy so that I would know my history, Blake's words, not mine just to be clear.
Because ever since my blow up at the dinner, I decided to keep silent as long as he didn't disrespect my mother in any way, and surprisingly, so far… he didn't.
Anyhow, back to the academy, it was first built by a Scottish man who lived in the States for the longest time.
Morion was a very rare quartz that could be found in specific places, Cairngorm Mountains of Scotland, was one of them which was why he chose that name, indicating that the people who could be in this academy were also one of a kind.
I kind of liked these origins and history, to be honest. The man was thoughtful. It's such a shame that the academy was probably filled with spoiled rich brats now, and how would I know that you might ask?
Isabelle told me about the four other families besides Ellis that had a hand and shares in ‘Sigma Industries.’
An Industries company that has branches all over the world and it is a collection between three families. Ellis. Korkmaz. Dixon.
These were the controlling families in New York and all around the world and countries. It was almost scary if I was being honest. To have that much control over everything.
But I had to know this information so that I would know why my parents and Charlotte were killed. There were a great number of people who wanted to see the heirs of those families dead and if I wasn't mistaken, I could've been the next in line if Blake didn't decide that he needed me.
Even though I still had question marks on why that man didn't kill me. He killed my parents, so why… Why let me walk away freely? What was the point?
Alright, that was enough. My thoughts were running wild now, and I didn’t like it. Stress was bad for me, especially on my first day at an academy that I knew s**t about other than its history and origins.
“Ready?” Henry asked while smiling at me from the mirror, given that I was sitting in the backseat because Isa was sitting in the passenger seat.
I sighed, looking at the huge building of the academy. “Sure, where do I head first?”
“Don't worry, we asked someone to help you, but she should've been here by now…” Isabelle trailed off, and a yelp left me when someone knocked on my window.
“There she is. That's Beck Harper, a senior like you and very cute, she'll help you.” Isabelle told me about the girl standing outside and beaming at us.
I was surprised, to say the least, but I just nodded my head and opened the car door, sliding out of the seat.
“I'll pick you up when you're done.” Isa told me.
Carrying my backpack, I slammed the door shut and smiled at them as they drove away. It reminded me of Mom and Dad in a way.
“Hi, I'm Beck. It's nice to meet you.” My attention went back to the ball of energy beside me. Her cute smile was still evident on her face, and her blue eyes were brightful and went along greatly with her brunette hair.
It was completely opposite to my blonde locks and jade eyes, and we even had different styles of clothing. While I was wearing an all black jacket, pants, and boots because I still didn't get over my parents' death.
She was wearing blue jeans, a white top and a red jacket, the academy's uniform, making her look like a barbie if I was being honest and kinda makes me look blank in front of her.
But who cared, appearances were a minor thing that only people cared about anyway.
I extended my hand to her. “Tatiana. Tate for short, it's nice to meet you, too.”
She shook my hand before gesturing for me to walk with her. “I'll take you to the Dean's office where the secretary there will give your studying schedule and from then I'll see where your first class is and take you there.”
Beck explained, and I was listening to her, but my eyes were also focused on the place in front of me. Morion Academy was vast, to say the least, full of students and vibrant.
The building itself was a sight for sore eyes where all the decorations were on the walls and even paintings.
The green land, flowers, any trees surely helped give it the great look it had. f*****g hell. We had shares in this place, this on its own could make a fortune.
Beck tugged me with her to a building that was separated from everything else and I figured it was the employee's building where we would find the Dean.
Just as we were about to enter, someone blocked our way… wait did I say someone? I mean more than just someone.
Three of them to be exact and even though I didn't know who they were, trouble was written all over them, that was for sure.
“Hello Beck.” One of them said, he had chocolate brown eyes that had a nice glow in the sun and alongside that was his silky black hair and light beard.
“What do you want, Cameron?” Beck's voice was tense and it was obvious that she didn't want to be here or at least in his presence at all.
“I'm saying Hi, what? is it not allowed now?” He leaned closer to Beck, getting into her personal space, without a care about her wanting it or not.
With a clenched fist at her side, Beck told him. “No, it's not allowed.”
Cameron or whoever the f**k he was, let out a chuckle at her before he opened his damned mouth again. “Come on, it's just greeting–”
“The girl said, it wasn't allowed. Take the hint.” I told him while looking eyes and watched his shocked face. I'm sure he wasn't used to anyone answering back at him.
I felt the other two presences close in around us and I had to keep down the uneasiness I felt inside of my veins. Maybe being in an unknown place, surrounded by people I didn't know was the reason for that.
“Got yourself a new friend from a nearby bin, Beck?” One of the two asked, his eyes forest green alongside it was his blonde hair, his face shaved clean.
“Don't push it, Seth. You don't know who you're talking to or about…” Beck was trying to defuse the situation, I knew and understood that but these people were far gone to realise who I was.
“But I do know who he's talking about…” The last one of them finally talked and my gaze drifted to him. His black eyes were cold and unfeeling and his brown hair made his appearance even more intimidating.
Who was he?
“And who might she be?” Cameron asked and I just kept my eyes on those black ones, waiting to know his answer.
His lips twitched in something that might resemble a smile as he stepped closer to me and suddenly I felt the danger I was in.
“Tatiana Ellis, no?” He tilted his head to the side, his gaze wandering from me to Beck while his friends were getting lost in their shock at the revelation he made but…
He had one tiny thing to change from his answer.
“Petrova.” I said and his face turned into something of confusion.
“Tatiana Petrova, not Ellis.” I explained.
Now he let out a smirk on his lips as his dark orbs were staring at me.
“You're still a newbie. Soon, you'll understand that nothing about you is yours anymore.” His hand raised and took a strand of my hair in it as he eyed me carefully.
“Not your name, not your life. Everything you ever thought was yours is gone.”
Beck was fidgeting beside me but that was the least of my problems. My problem was in the shape of a six feet tall human who was now telling me things that I didn't even know.
“Kaya.” Someone called out and I didn’t fail to notice the slight tense that took over everyone standing here… well besides me of course because I had no idea what's happening.
A man approached us, he looked to be Henry's age but his aura spoke of power and I barely maintained my gaze to stay on him as he approached, the one talking to me.
“Dean Lamond.” Kaya turned to the man, acknowledging him but there was that uncomforting glimmer of evilness in his eyes and I didn’t like it.
“I thought I made myself clear last time, no inappropriate activities in my academy. Understood?” The Dean warned Kaya and I didn’t even want to think about what kind of inappropriate activities he meant but I had a pretty good guess.
Seth let out a laugh and Kaya just stared down the Dean before he talked. “I do whatever the f**k I want, Lamond. We own this place and you? You're just our pretty image so act like it.”
My eyes widened. There was no way he just said that to the Dean of the Academy and I even had to look at Beck to make sure that we both heard the same thing but she just shrugged.
How was this normal to her? To all of them?
“Miss Ellis, follow me.” The Dean ordered while looking at Kaya with a burning hatred and I was about to correct Dean Lamond on my name when a girl appeared and took a hold of Kaya's arm…
“Hey babe, is there a problem?” She asked with a sickeningly fake sweet voice that made my stomach flip… what the f**k was this place?
The Dean turned around to walk away and I decided that following him was the best thing to do so that I could get away from Kaya and his two friends and I knew that Beck would follow me.
“We can't wait to see you again tonight, Tatiana Ellis.” Seth voiced his thoughts out loud behind me and I almost stopped dead in my tracks but no, I wouldn't show them that I was that clueless about everything that happened around here.
Beck was now walking beside me when she answered him, surprising both of us. “Whatever you say, Angus.”
Hold up, what?
I cast a look at Beck and saw her smiling victoriously but I was just confused honestly.
“His name is Angus Seth Dixon and he hates his first name with a burning passion, so…” Beck explained and I only let out a laugh at her move, that was a nice blow to someone who seemed to be so full of himself like Seth.
“Miss Harper, I believe that you will be guiding Miss Ellis through our rules once signing her in is over.” The Dean asked as we entered his office together and I let myself sit down in one of the chairs in front of the desk.
My feet are carrying me by force at this point and I felt dizzy, everything happening together like that was just so…quick.
After twenty minutes or so, I was officially signed into this academy with a full schedule of my classes and everything to help me for the rest of this year.
“Tatiana Daniel Ellis, welcome to Morion Academy.” Dean Lamond told me with his hand extended to me as we stood up and I took it with a smile and a thanks for his help.
Then Beck and I found ourselves out of his building and into the other building where we had our first class together. Having only two was going to make it harder to get used to this but I just had to get through.
On our way back we had to cross in front of the gate where I saw Kaya and that girl seated on a White 718 Cayman Porsche but my breath hitched when his eyes met mine, totally ignoring the girl hanging off of him like a f*****g koala.
“That's Rachel, in case you were wondering. She's the pass around between the three of them but her big game is Kaya who by the way, doesn't give a s**t about her.” Beck explained to me when she saw me standing in my place while looking at them.
“Who are they by the way?” I asked because this far, I didn't know who they were or why they acted like they own everything.
“The one interested in you apparently, is Kaya Korkmaz. The blonde one is Seth. The first one that talked is Cameron Crawford. Sons of billionaires who are also in a partnership with your grandfather in Sigma Industries but Crawford were are not too deep in the connections”
Well, I'll be damned. They were the sons of our partners which meant I would be seeing them more often because they were the heirs to their parents, same way I was.
Goddamn it. I certainly didn't want to see more of Kaya or any of his friends for the matter. f**k this.
“Wait, what did Seth mean by seeing me tonight?” The question was more or less to myself but apparently Beck had an answer to every question I had.
“Your grandfather is hosting a dinner tonight with all partners of Sigma invited, my parents included, to discuss your position in Sigma.”
How come I didn't know about that dinner when it's held for me?
Beck noticed my surprised reaction that I didn't try to hide much. “You didn't know?”
“Not really.” I answered and chose to finally keep on walking to the next building and tried to ignore the uneasiness settling inside of me.
Sure I did agree on becoming the heir Blake wanted but planning things about me against my will and without my knowledge, that was too much.
“Listen, Tate. Some of what Kaya said is true, once you're in Sigma, you're not leaving and that probably was Charlotte's damnation.” Beck's voice held pain when she mentioned my dead cousin and I just realised that maybe she was friends with Charlotte.
“What happened to her? Charlotte I mean.” I asked with a low voice, afraid that someone would come after my head if I mentioned her name loudly.
“A car accident allegedly. A truck lost control and hit her car while she was in it but everyone in Sigma knew it wasn't true. She was killed and it wasn't really a surprise, Sigma has many enemies.” Beck said while we kept on walking but she wasn't looking at me and I didn’t blame her.
I hesitated a little before asking the question in my mind but I decided that asking it was a must. “Were you friends?”
Finally, she smiled even if it was a sad one. “Best friends… sisters even. I knew her since we were little and so did the other three idiots by the way and sometimes I excuse them because her death hit us all hard, especially Seth.”
We reached the building where classes would take place and we separated ways when she took me to my first class.
“I'll see you in the third class. Careful until then.” Was the last thing she told me before I entered the class and took the first seat I saw was empty.
But I noticed the danger I was in when the hairs on the back of my neck stood up the moment I saw Seth entering the class, his green eyes piercing me like he wanted to kill me.
And him taking the seat behind me was the final straw, making me try to change my seat quickly when his hand took hold of my shoulder and slammed me back in my seat again.
His hand tightened on my shoulder and I tried to take it off as pain hit me like a wave but he wasn't budging.
“Let go, you're hurting me.” I ordered with a shaky voice.
“If you try to run again, it will be worse than this.” He threatened before letting go of me with a light push.
What in the f*****g hell? What was his problem with me? And I knew he was bad news, it was easy to identify someone who was looking for harm and that was what he was aiming at.
I couldn't… wouldn't stay here the whole time, not with someone like him sitting behind me.
Asking to be excused to the restroom I escaped quickly and rounded the hallway, entering the restroom.
My hand reached to open the water then I splashed some water on my face, my head spinning as dizziness took over me.
I reached for a paper towel and dried my face before opening the door to leave but everything happened faster than I could process.
One second I was leaving, the second I was pushed back inside and slammed against the wall and there he was.
Seth had his hand tightly wrapped around my throat, choking me and my hand immediately went to claw at his but to no avail.
This couldn't be happening. I wouldn't die like that after surviving the day my parents were killed.
“Don't believe for a second that you're one of us or that you can take Charlotte's place. You're just the spare parts that we needed after Charlotte was killed, so don't even think that you're important, understa–”
Seth was cut off when someone pushed him away and I fell to the ground, my knees couldn't hold me any longer as I heaved and coughed. Finally able to breathe again and with teary eyes I looked up to see Kaya.
He was the one that pushed Seth off of me and they were arguing but why couldn't I hear them, it felt like I was with them but I also wasn't.
Black dots appeared in my vision when it sank in that someone tried to kill me because I was here, because I came to live here after my parents were killed.
Why did everyone treat me as if it was my fault that my Dad died or that Charlotte died?
It wasn't my fault, it wasn't my fault, it wasn't–
“Tatiana!” I heard Kaya yell my name and my gaze snapped to him. He was kneeling on the ground in front of me, his dark eyes looking carefully into mine.
He went to hold my arm but I pulled myself away from and forced my legs to stand and ran away from them. From all of them!
I wasn't planning on taking part of any of that Sigma stuff but Seth just started his own war with me just like Blake did.
I'll show them. I will show them all.
