Chapter 24

1977 Words

When Kaden and I finally meandered back to the truck at about 7:45, the kids were still sleeping. I suppose that I can't say 'still', since if Kaden hadn't woken me up, I probably would've slept for probably two and a half days. Now, let's see how the little angels react to being violently awoken from their lovely dreams, shall we? Kaden pulled open the back door of the truck--as he'd promised, Jeffry, Will, and Reine were still all there, and were still zonked out where we'd left them. Will's mouth was hanging open slightly, and, sweet goodness, that boy could snore! I was surprised he hadn't woken up the entire time, much less his roommates. Hopping into the truck, I decided to have a go at waking them up. "Hey," I said softly, shaking Reine's shoulder lightly. "Time to get up, guys."
