Chapter 1-The Alpha’s Claim

2067 Words
EVEREST The roar of motorcycles thundered across the racing grounds. Engines revved as the crowd pressed against the barriers, their excitement rising with every passing second beneath the bright floodlights. Along one side were VIP tables packed with expensive food and drinks. On the other side stood rows of high-end motorcycles, the kind most people couldn't afford even if they worked for decades. This wasn't just a race. It was the annual championship between the three most elite biker clubs in the city, each led by an Alpha from a powerful Beast Clan. Most of the members came from wealthy and influential families—corporate heirs, children of high-ranking officials and socialites dressed to flaunt their status. And then there was me. Standing in a corner, carrying three heavy bags that belonged to a woman who couldn't even be bothered to carry her own things. “Everest!” I turned at the sound of my name and saw my stepsister, Lyra Greel, walking toward me. Lyra was one of the most famous girls at the university. She was beautiful, confident, dangerously attractive, and knew exactly how to get everyone’s attention. She was wearing a custom black leather outfit, her hair and makeup completely flawless. Even the way she held her phone looked deliberate, as if she knew people were watching her. And they were. Several people nearby turned to look, and Lyra clearly enjoyed it. “Where's my jacket?” Her voice was cold as she stopped in front of me. The click of her high-heeled boots made my stomach drop. Nearby, people at the VIP tables went quiet, watching us. “I-it's inside the bag, Lyra—” Before I could finish, Lyra slammed her glass onto the table beside me. The impact made the table shake, spilling the expensive liquor onto the floor and splashing the bottom of my pants. “And you actually made me wait?!” she snapped. “Are you really this useless?” Her voice grew louder, drawing even more eyes. I wanted nothing more than to disappear right then and there. “I told you to have my things ready before the opening ceremony! You're never good for anything!” Lyra grabbed one of the bags from my hands and threw it straight onto the floor where her drink had spilled. The bag fell open, and her belongings scattered across the wet ground. “Pick them up. All of them.” She folded her arms. “And clean my shoes before Alpha Solon arrives. Otherwise, you’ll regret the day you were born.” Heat rushed to my face. In their world, I was nothing—just someone they could humiliate without consequence. Clenching my fists, I swallowed my pride and slowly lowered myself to the floor. But before my fingers could touch the ground, a deep, powerful engine roared through the venue. The sound was lower and far more intimidating than any motorcycle I had heard all night. The crowd went completely silent. My heart pounded against my ribs. A custom matte black cruiser with crimson-red details entered the grounds, looking like it was burning under the red lights. A few seconds later, the rider stepped off. Solon Hartlock. He was the Alpha of the Wolf Clan, one of the strongest clans descended from the Hartlock Bloodline, a lineage known for producing High Alphas. He was also the President of the Black Fang Biker Club. He was tall and muscular, dressed in a black leather jacket that only made him look more intimidating. His dark hair was messy, framing his sharp features. But it was his icy blue eyes that caught my attention. They were cold, dangerous, and intense. From the corner of my eye, I saw Lyra quickly fix her hair, standing tall with her sweetest smile, expecting Solon to walk up to her. But he didn't even glance at her. Solon walked straight toward me. Before I could react, his large hand closed gently around my arm, pulling me back up to my feet. When our eyes met, his cold expression softened for a split second. Then he turned toward the crowd, that sudden gentleness disappearing instantly as his expression hardened with authority. His arm wrapped around my waist, pulling me firmly against his side. “No one has the right to touch her except me,” Solon’s deep voice echoed across the quiet grounds, sharp and final as his eyes locked onto Lyra. “Because she is my mate.” My breath caught in my throat. For a long moment, I couldn't hear anything else. I stared up at him, convinced I had misheard him. But then I looked at Lyra. The color had completely drained from her face. Her lips trembled as she stared at us in utter disbelief. The man every woman wanted… The man she had spent the whole night trying so hard to impress… Was standing right beside me. Holding me close. And declaring to everyone that I belonged to him. “No! I won't accept this!” Lyra’s desperate scream shattered the silence. She took a panicked step toward Solon, her confident mask completely gone. “Alpha Solon, look at her! She’s just a nobody who carries my bags! I am the one who belongs by your side. Choose me instead!” Solon’s eyes turned lethal. His voice echoed across the silent grounds, sharp and cruel. “Choose you?” Solon sneered. “I would rather live without a mate than spend a single second tied to a vile, low-class creature like you.” Cruel whispers instantly broke out among the crowd. Solon didn't waste another second; he guided me toward his motorcycle and gently put his helmet over my head. As Solon revved the engine, I glanced back one last time. Lyra stood frozen under the floodlights, her face pale with humiliation. But as our eyes met, her shock vanished, replaced by a cold, murderous glare. Her knuckles were white as her hands clenched into fists. I wrapped my arms tighter around Solon’s waist, a sudden chill running down my spine. I knew her too well; that wasn't the look of a defeated woman. That was the look of someone preparing for war. --- I tightened my arms around Solon's waist as we sped through the cold night air. The motorcycle roared beneath us, its vibrations humming through my entire body every time he slowed down. The sharp smell of gasoline mixed with the heat of the tires against the pavement, but beneath it all was Solon's scent—clean, cool, and undeniably masculine. I rested my face against his broad back, but my mind was still racing. I had never believed in fated mates. Even in this modern world, where humans and Beasts coexisted side by side, old legends still persisted. Stories passed down through generations claimed that any human woman chosen to be the mate of an Alpha Beast would bring immense good fortune—unrivaled business success, supreme power, and endless prosperity to his bloodline. It sounded like a dream to everyone else. But to me? It sounded ridiculous. In a world driven by technology and modern influence, why would these ruthless Alpha Beasts ever lower themselves to choose a human? To creatures as powerful as them, humans were nothing more than weak, fragile beings. It felt like nothing more than a glorified myth meant to make women willingly bind themselves to someone powerful. But when Solon took my hand earlier, something shifted inside me. A strange warmth had spread through my body. A spark. Something familiar that I couldn't explain, and that scared me more than anything. There were countless women more beautiful, rich, and confident than me. Even Lyra, despite coming from an ordinary human family, had always been treated like she was superior. So why me? I didn't realize we had stopped until I looked up. A large motorcycle workshop stood before us, its wide garage doors closed for the night. Several motorcycles were parked inside and some of them stripped down with their parts laid out on nearby workbenches. Solon turned off the engine, cutting the loud roar into sudden silence. "Here we are," he said, taking off his helmet. "This is my shop." I looked around, confused. "Your shop?" He nodded. "I repair and modify motorcycles here." I glanced at the motorcycles scattered around the workshop. Some looked expensive, and judging by the parts lying around, they weren't all simple repairs. I never expected Solon to actually work on motorcycles himself. He was an Alpha from a powerful Beast Bloodline, and with the kind of money and influence he had, I assumed he had people to do this for him. But here he was, running his own shop and fixing motorcycles with his own hands. Before I could even attempt to get off, he reached for my hand again, and that same unexplainable warmth instantly returned. He led me inside, past the rows of motorcycles and workbenches. "I'll have you stay here tonight," he said. I looked at him. "Here?" "For tonight," he repeated. "You can rest upstairs." I followed him toward a private staircase at the back of the workshop. Upstairs was a small living area with several rooms. Solon opened one of the doors. "You can use this room." I stepped into the room and looked around. It was simple but comfortable. I still couldn't get over the fact that this was Solon's place. Somehow, seeing him here felt different from the man I'd seen at the racing grounds. Before I could say anything, he walked across the hall and stopped in front of another door. "This one's mine." He opened the door and looked back at me. I was about to step inside when he suddenly grabbed me by the waist and pulled me toward the room across the hall. "Wait—" Before I could finish, he opened his own door and pulled me inside. He turned me around and gently backed me against the wall. His frame towered over mine, leaving me trapped against the heat of his chest. “A-Alpha Solon…” My voice came out barely above a whisper, my heart pounding so hard I was certain he could hear it. He lowered his head, his lips lightly brushing against the skin of my neck. A sharp jolt ran straight down my spine, making my fingers instinctively tighten around his leather jacket. “You’re going to drive me crazy if you keep looking at me like that, mate,” he murmured, his voice low, hoarse, and thick with restraint. His piercing blue eyes locked onto mine, burning with undeniable desire. He lifted a hand to gently cup the side of my face, his thumb softly brushing across my lower lip. The space between us suddenly felt far too small. “You're mine,” he said, his voice firm, yet carrying a faint, desperate plea underneath. “Tell me you're mine alone.” My lips trembled. A part of me wanted to yield right then and there. Whatever this magnetic pull between us was, it was dragging me toward him completely. But everything was happening too fast, and the harsh reality of who he was, and the ruthless world he belonged to, hit me all at once. I didn't belong here. I squeezed my eyes shut, holding onto his arms as my breathing turned ragged. Solon noticed my sudden hesitation immediately. He stopped. Just like that. Slowly pulling away, he took a deep, forced breath to regain control. When he looked down at me again, the intensity in his eyes had softened into understanding—though beneath it, the fierce instinct to claim me still burned bright. He lowered his head once more, pressing his lips back against my neck. He lingered there for a second before I felt the sharp tips of his fangs gently sink into my skin. It wasn't hard enough to cause real pain, just enough to leave a lingering mark of ownership. I closed my eyes as a sharp sting spread across my skin. “I won't force you,” Solon whispered, his deep voice sending an involuntary shiver through me. He moved closer, his lips brushing against the shell of my ear as he delivered his final warning. “I’ll wait… until you’re the one begging me for my heir.”
