Pierce The captain stared at me over his folded hands on his desk. “Did you get the Cranston case taken care of?” he inquired for the eighteenth time. I didn’t even know why I was in his office still. He had brought up about ten of the cases I was working on closing, seeming to be on a mission to pass time.              “I already told you it was wrapped up. Really simple. Kevin even folded, so we’re good to go with the hearing. Lawrence has been working with the attorney on a deal, so the hearing might be bypassed altogether.
