Mia He kept on driving past the state line, past Vancouver and beyond. I wasn’t sure where he was taking us, but with the mood I was in, I didn’t really care. I had been genuinely excited to go out, but when I started painting, I realized all the things I loved that were holding me to this place… but it wasn’t things. It was just one person. Pierce was my magnetic pull, holding me to this spot. When he walked up and kissed me like I had never been kissed before, I knew that nothing could get me to leave. Nothing but me being my shitty self. The fact he hadn’t detected the mask I was wearing only solidified that the kiss had affected him as much as it had me. That kiss. It had shifted the entire immovable world. Had made stars rain from the sky. It stopped time.
