Chapter 7 He was panting like crazy. He was out of breath. He had to raise his right hand, resting his palm on what he could tell was a tree. I gotta get out of here!!! It’s gonna kill me!!!!, he thought. He was in the middle of the woods, surrounded by pine trees. The pine trees looked tall and menacing right now. Despite the fact that he felt some wind gushing through him, the forest was mostly quiet. He didn’t hear the animals of the forest making any noises. At all. It was nearly silence. Dead silence. A part of him wished that they at least made some noise. To comfort him. To distract the creature. He kept panting, trying to gulp air each time. I’m sure I lost it!!!!, he thought. He was on the run. The run of his life. He was running for his life. His friends were on the run, at least those who had managed to have run away from the monster. He was sure some of them were already dead by now. He saw the creature kill some of his other friends earlier on.. Butchered them. Before his very eyes. As if they were animals in a farmhouse ready to be slaughtered. It was chasing them. It was stalking them. It was killing them. No, you have to keep going!! What would coach say!!!! he tried convincing himself to carry on running. He looked at the pine trees. Why don’t I try climbing up!!!!, he thought.A part of him told him it was a terrible idea. That this creature chasing him, could probably climb a tree. Like a bear. Like a leopard. And it would easily kill him. Like it killed all his closest friend. It did kill his girlfriend Misha. They were going to have a great future together. They were going to have make it big. They were going to make it on varsity. Now she was gone. Like all the others. He really hoped others had made it out. Or that someone had managed to call out for help. He tried staying focus. He looked up at the night sky. The full moon shone brightly, over the clouds. He remembered all those horror films he watched. He remembered all those horror stories he heard about. And read about. How he dismissed them. Now he started believing in them. He was in one. His mind was telling him to start making a move for it, remembering everything he did on training to get him to start running. He started running. Before it caught up with him. He was running past through pine trees. But as he kept running straight past through some pine trees, ‘it’ leapt just seven feet. In front of him. It growled. Its eyes, were glowing in the darkness of the forest. He gulped. I don’t wanna die!!!! he panicked. His heart was beating quicker and quicker. He was sweating. Out of fear. For his life. Its presence alone how powerful it really looked. How powerful it really was. It was the top predator. It was the dominant force in the forest. And he was it’s prey. A part of him told him to start getting his legs moving. But he just felt powerless. He just stood there. Paralyzed. By fear. He saw it walk slowly towards him. He heard it walk slowly towards him. It growled. Its eyes still looked straight at him. It was the scariest noise he had ever heard. In his entire life. The last thing he saw was it leaping towards him. There were only two last things he heard. The growling. And his own screaming.
