The Confession

Myra arrived at the hospital in a bad condition and was rushed to the emergency room. She had a fractured rib, her left arm was broken, she was bleeding badly, and kept calling for Emma. The hospital called her parents, asked them to rush to the hospital, and shared the details. Her parents instantly picked up Emma and rushed to the hospital, still clueless about what was happening. After all, she was supposed to be with Ryan. How did Myra end up in the hospital? They reached the hospital where Myra was still in emergency surgery, and they sat outside the room patiently waiting for someone to tell them what was happening. Ryan, in the meantime, was being questioned by the police along with the taxi driver and the car driver. The police were trying to understand whether it was an intentional hit by the driver or if she was scared and running away from Ryan. The taxi driver and car driver both gave their statements that the girl was running away from Ryan, and he was taken away for further questioning to the police, he pleaded with the officers to not waste his time. He needed to go see Myra; he needed to be with her. The police officers ignored his pleas and once at the police station made him stay in a room for further questioning. By this time, Ryan was beyond frustrated, and he tried to not be rude to the officers, but it was an emergency. He asked for his phone call and straight away called the mayor of the city. After all, he was a millionaire and gave thousands of dollars in charity every year, and the mayor was his dear friend. Once Ryan was done with his conversation, he handed the phone to the police officer, and the officer's face went pale. He said, 'Sorry, sir, if only I would have known. You can go, please.'

Ryan picked up his things and was about to leave the police station but then turned around and asked the officer, 'Which hospital did they take her to, you know?' The police officer checked and informed her that she had been taken to The New Metro Hospital. Ryan rushed out of the police station towards the street and stopped a cab. He said to the driver, 'Take me to The New Metro Hospital right now. The faster you drive, the more tip I will give you.'

Ryan was soon at the hospital and paid the driver. He just took out all cash from his pocket and handed it to the driver, then rushed towards the reception. He asked Myra, 'Which room is Myra in? She was brought here in an ambulance as she had a really bad accident, being hit by a car. Where is she? How is she?' The lady at the reception searched for her name and said she is in an emergency operation theatre since 2 hours. Nothing can be said right now. Ryan just froze for a moment until the lady said, 'Sir, you need to go to the second floor and they will guide you.'

Ryan just ran towards the elevator, but it was taking too long, so he ran towards the staircase and did not stop until he was at the 2nd floor. Ryan then went to the nurse passing by and asked her which operation theatre Myra was in, and the nurse guided him. He then started running again until he reached the operation theatre and stopped outside it. Ryan was trying to catch his breath while looking for a doctor or a nurse for updates when he saw Myra's parents sitting on a nearby bench. Her mother was holding little Emma tightly in her arms, and Ryan couldn't help but notice Emma looked more like Myra than Jack.

Myra's mother noticed Ryan; she had seen him in a picture that Myra showed her on her phone a few months ago and faintly recognized him. She then got up from the bench, handed Emma to her grandfather, and walked towards Ryan. She asked him, "Excuse me, my dear boy, if I am not mistaken, you are Ryan, right?"

Ryan was feeling really guilty and responsible for what had happened to Myra, and he couldn't even look at Myra's mother. Myra's mother stated that she was so happy to meet you today; you had called her earlier. She told us she was going to your house. What happened? How did my daughter end up here? What did you do? Did you hurt her because she hid the truth? Is that what happened? Ryan at this point just broke down and started crying, saying, 'No, I can never even dream of hurting Myra. I love Myra, and she means so much to me. But you are right, she is here because of me, and I wish it was me, not her, in there.'

Myra's mother couldn't understand what Ryan meant and got angry and asked him again, 'Tell me what you did which led you here. Tell me everything right now.' Ryan then followed Myra's mother to where Emma and Myra's father were sitting and waiting. He sat down next to them and begged for their forgiveness. He revealed who he was, how he was set up to meet Myra on her aunt's instructions, and how he changed after meeting Myra and finding out that she is an amazing person. He then shared how her aunt and Jack are now blackmailing him to complete the job, or else they would have revealed his truth to her. Ryan went on and on about the layers of betrayal and the cunning plan Myra's ex-mother-in-law had in store. Tears were rolling down the cheeks of her parents.

Myra's father was really upset and got up in anger. He said, 'I can't hear anymore of this bullshit. My daughter was right, no sane person can ever justify what you did. There is nothing you could do to make this right. You hurt her.'You hurt our innocent daughter on purpose, and now she is fighting for her life all because of that cunning aunt of yours, that evil woman who was not yet done with my daughter. She would only be satisfied if my daughter was dead. How dare you hurt my daughter? She never did anything to you. I want you to leave right now and leave her alone. I will handle Margret and Jack myself. They will have to face me before they even touch my granddaughter's shadow. Myra's mother tried to calm him down, but Myra's father was too angry to listen. So she said to Ryan, 'It's better you leave us alone now and never ever come back, or else I will have to call the hospital security on you.' Ryan left the hospital with a heavy heart, tears in his eyes. He didn't even know if Myra was okay or not, and it was killing him. But he understood that was the right thing to do at the time. So he left the hospital, took a cab, and went home.
