Eli POV
After Christa runs out of the room, Pete gets up and begins to go after her. I grab his arm and shake my head.
”I think it’ll be best if I go after her. Why don't you head to your room and get some rest? I’ll go talk to her and make sure she's ok and get her situated tonight.”
”Where are you going to set her up at?”
”She will stay in my suite.”
He immediately goes rigid.
”Like hell, she will! With all due respect, Alpha, I don't think she needs to be sleeping in the same room with you!”
”That’s the safest place for her right now. Don’t worry, Pete, I’ll take good care of her. I’ll be sleeping on my couch in my room. I’ll be a perfect gentleman with her. I don't want her to be anywhere I can’t see her.”
He seems to take in my words for a moment and shakes his head in understanding.
”If anything happens to her, Alpha or not, I will kill you!” He growls at me.
”If anything happens to her, I will let you.”
He gives me a questioning look but doesn't say anything more.
I take my leave and find Christa sitting on a bench in the waiting room.
”I don’t understand? All these years, both of them have been lying to me.”
I sigh and sit down next to her, and take her hand in mine.
”They were only trying to protect you.” She quickly pulls her hand away from mine.
”By lying to me? How is that protecting me?”
”They just did what they thought was best for you. They didn't want you to worry. Try and see where they are coming from. They wouldn't be able to focus on what they were doing if they knew you were worrying about them all the time. It would have distracted them and got them hurt. They have an extremely important job for this pack, and they need to be one hundred percent at all times.”
She seemed to nod her head thinking about what I’ve just said.
”I can see where they're coming from, but I’m upset that they couldn't trust that I would be ok knowing the truth. Everything I knew about them was a lie! I feel like I don’t even know my own brothers anymore. They’ve become strangers to me.”
She said, looking at me with the saddest eyes. It broke my heart to see her so hurt. Tears began to fall from her eyes, and her lips began to quiver. I took my thumbs and gently wiped the tears from her eyes and pulled her into my arms. We sat there that way for a few minutes. She was the first to pull away.
”So what are we going to do now?”
”First, we are going to get you cleaned up and situated for the night.”
I took her hand in mine. And led her up to my place on the third floor. I gave her a quick tour of my home before taking her to my bedroom suite. She looks around in awe.
”This is the master suite bathroom. You can take a shower in there. Here's your bag with your clothes. I made sure to pack your shower supplies and other necessities in there. Make yourself at home.”
She looked at me, blushing and with a shy smile on her lips.
”Where will I be sleeping?” She asks while looking down at her feet. It makes me chuckle.
”Don’t worry; I’ll be taking the couch tonight, not far from you.”
She nods her head; I can see the slight disappointment in her eyes; it makes me feel happy that she thought about me sleeping in the bed with her. Once she's finished, she peaks her head out of the bathroom, and her face flushes from embarrassment.
”Um, would you mind turning around?”
That makes me chuckle that she’s too embarrassed to let me see her in her PJs. I turn around.
”Let me know when you're settled.”
I hear the bed rustle around until finally, it settles.
”Ok, you can turn around now.”
I can't help but smile at how cute she is. I walk over towards her and pull the blanket over her and push it in around her. She looks at me, curiously.
”What are you doing?” She asks.
”I’m tucking you in.” She blushes deeply.
”You don’t have to do that.”
”I know I don't. I want to.” I lean down and kiss her forehead.
”Goodnight. Sweetheart.”
”Good night.”
As I’m getting ready for bed, I notice that my body is aching. Huh? That's weird werewolves don’t ache. In fact, we don't feel pain at all unless we’re attacked by another werewolf, and we quickly heal, and the pain goes away. It's an unfamiliar feeling to me, and all of a sudden, I have a sharp stabbing feeling going up and down my spine. It's like nothing I’ve ever felt before. I notice that Christa is moving around restless in her sleep and then she finally settles back down again. I shake it off and get comfortable on the couch and fall asleep.
**Christa**
I wake up in the morning with my head foggy and my body is aching. I slowly look around, but I don't recognize the room I’m in. It sat up in a panic, and suddenly, everything came rushing back to me. Chase is in a coma and my brothers have been lying to me all these years. I am overwhelmed with sadness and confusion about everything. I don't even know who my brothers really are. This whole time I’ve been living a lie.
I look around the room, and I instantly remember Eli. Oh my goodness, I’m in his room. I remember how sweet he was when he so gently tucked me in his bed and kissed my forehead before he said good night. Just thinking about him made me get butterflies in my stomach. I hear something in the bathroom, and then the door opens. Immediately my mouth drops open, I can feel my face getting flush, and I can't stop myself from staring at the sight before me. Eli quietly walks out of the bathroom with nothing but a towel around his waist. The water is dripping down his back rolling down his ripped muscles. Then he turns and startles when he sees me.
”Oh, I’m sorry, I thought you were still asleep. I didn't wake you did I?”
I sit there for a moment speechless, my face heats up in embarrassment but I can't stop looking at the perfect male specimen that stands before me. He notices me staring at him, and he smirks.
”Do you like what you see?” He said as he winks at me. I quickly clear my throat and cover my eyes.
”I-I’m so sorry. I-I didn't mean to stare.” I stutter and he chuckles, ”And no, you didn't wake me up. I was already awake. Let me know when you're… you know… dressed.” That makes him laugh.
”I’m glad you find this so amusing!” He laughs some more.
”It’s not that. You're just too cute when you get so flustered.” I can hear him opening his drawers and some clothes shuffling around, ”Ok, you can uncover your eyes now.”
I slowly move my hands from my eyes. He’s standing there smiling at me beaming. I’ve never seen anyone as handsome as he is. To top off his dashing good looks, he’s super sweet too. What I wouldn't give for him to be mine. He sits down on the bed next to me, becoming more serious.
”How are you feeling today?” He asks.
I simply just shrug my shoulders and pull the blanket up to my chin. I don't really feel like talking about how I feel because, to be honest, I’m still trying to figure it out myself. I can feel myself start to shut down.
”Hey, hey, it's ok. You don't have to talk about it right now.” He soothes me as if he knew I was going to shut down, ”Just know that I’m always here for you if you need to talk about it.”
I let out a sigh of relief and nod my head in reply. I’m not even sure I’m ready to talk to Pete yet.
”Have you heard anything about Chase?” He frowns and shakes his head.
”No, nothing has changed. Would you like to go see him?” He asks.
”Yes, please. Will Pete be there? I’m not sure I’m ready to face him.”
”No, he's busy training this morning.”
I let out a sigh, ”Ok, I just need to get ready.”
He gets up and starts to head out of the room. He stops outside the door and says,
”I’m gonna go make us some breakfast. Meet me in the kitchen when you're done.”
”Ok, thank you.” I say quietly.
I hop in the shower and quickly get ready, knowing that he is waiting for me. I look in my bag and see that he grabbed one of my newer outfits that Mandy helped me pick out. I decided to wear it because I wanted to look nice for him and impress him. I looked in the mirror a bit uncomfortable because it was more fitting to my body than I am used to. Normally, I wear clothes that are baggy and less revealing.
I start heading towards the kitchen, but the place is so big that I get lost. I wander around trying to find it when someone grabs me by the arm harshly. I turn around and find Eliza standing there scowling at me.
”What the f**k are you doing in my fiance’s house b***h?” She says up close to my face, still holding tight to my arm digging her nails into my skin.
”Let go. You're hurting me!” I yank my arm away.
”Answer my question. What the f**k are you doing here?”
”Last I checked you were never his ’fiance’. And second, it's none of your business why I’m here.”
She lifts her hand to slap my face, ”Why you little bitch.”
I flinched, closing my eyes, expecting to feel the impact, but it never comes. Eli had grabbed her hand before it made it to my face. I have never seen him look as scary as he did right then. I saw his eyes switching between his beautiful blue eyes to gold. Eliza immediately cowers in front of him, and for the first time since I met Eli, I was scared of him too.
”Just what do you think you were about to do?” He lets out a low growl.
”N-n-n-nothing A-a-alpha.” He gets closer to her face, still holding onto her wrist, a deep growl coming from deep within his chest.
”It didn't look like nothing. In fact, it looked like you were about to hit her.” Eliza is now shaking, scared to death. If she hadn’t been so cruel to me I’d almost feel bad for her. ”Is that what you were about to do, Eliza? Were you about to hit her?”
”Y-y-yes A-alpha.” She squeaks out, nodding her head quickly in a jerky motion.
”Why were you about to hit her?”
”B-b-b-because she ran into me on p-p-purpose and c-c-called me a b***h. S-s-she wanted t-to know what I was doing here.”
He shakes his head, ”Tsk, Tsk, Tsk. You and I both know that’s not true, Eliza. You were the one who did all that weren't you? And don't you dare lie to me, Eliza, you will not like what will happen if you do.”
Eliza lowers her head, bowing, ”Y-yes, Alpha. It was me. I-I-I’m sorry, it won't happen again.”
He lifts her chin to look at him, ”You're right; it won’t happen again.” Her eyes widen, terrified of what he will do.
”Apologize to Christa.” She looks between him and me, and she takes a big gulp. My guess is she’s trying to swallow her pride.
”I’m sorry.” She whispers
”You're what? I don't think she heard you!”
”I’m sorry.” She spoke louder.
I was just standing there shocked about the whole thing. All I could do was nod my head to accept her apology. I was also terrified for myself. I have never seen this side of Eli.
”You will take your belongings and move down to a room on the first floor.”
As soon as he said that, she got brave.
”But Alpha, I’m your guest of honor. You can’t put me down there with those, those Omega’s.” She says the last word with disgust.
He lifts his brows, ”Oh, can’t I? Give me one good reason why I shouldn’t move you with them?”
”B-b-b-because, I’m your mate!”
”You listen to me. You were never my mate, and you never will be. Get your stuff and get out. If I even see you near Christa again, I will send you to the dungeons.”
”Y-y-yes Alpha.” She said sobbing.
She gets up and runs to her room and slams the door behind her. He finally looks at me and like her, I’m shaking and when he takes a step towards me, I flinch and take a step back.
”Sssshhhh, it’s ok; I won’t hurt you.” He walks towards me with his hands up and in a surrender position. When he gets to me, he pulls me into his arms.
”I’m so sorry that happened, sweetheart. Are you ok?”
I nod my head yes; he pulls me into his arms, hugging me; his touch immediately calms me. We stand like that for a few moments before he pulls away from me. He takes me by the hand and leads me to the kitchen. He pulls out a chair for me at the table and helps me into my seat. I’m so confused, how can he be terrifying with Eliza one moment and then be a perfect gentleman and sweet to me the next?

After breakfast, we start heading to the pack hospital to see Chase. Eli keeps looking at me with a smile. I look at him and ask,
”What?”
”Nothing did I tell you how beautiful you look today?”
I blush looking at my feet and shake my head no.
”Well, you do. You look beautiful today.”
I smile at him and whisper, ”thank you.” Then he takes my hand. I look up at him in shock, but he just looks at me and smiles, and kisses the back of my hand. We get to Chase’s room, and Eli lets go of my hand. I walk over to him and kiss him on his cheek. I whisper in his ear,
”Hi Chase, I don't know if you can hear me, but I just want to say that I love you, and I need you to pull through this. Please, I need both you and Pete. Please, just give me a sign that you hear me. Squeeze my hand.”
I put my hand in his and wait for him to squeeze my hand, but nothing happens. I sit down on the chair and put my head on his chest and cry. After a little bit, I look up to where Eli is standing and say,
”He’s not gonna make it is he?”
