Chapter 13

1966 Words
Eliza POV With our plan set in motion, I go to my father about being kicked out of the guest room and that I want him to take me on a date because he hasn’t been spending any time with me! In fact, he’s been spending too much time with that human, and I was going to change that! He was pissed off about me getting kicked out of the guest room that when he spoke with Eli’s father, he threatened him that he would pull his alliance with this pack if he doesn't take me on a date like I wanted him to. Later on, we went to my favorite restaurant that I had requested, and as soon as we got there, the waitresses were hitting on him and pissed me off. He was mine, and no one was allowed to look at him that way, let alone talk to him. They were below him. As we sat and ate dinner, I noticed that Eli hasn’t mated or marked that human yet so I was hopeful that maybe he didn't want to mark her because she is a human and word has it, he didn't care for humans at all. Maybe he's just keeping her because of the mate pull? If I can convince him that I am the better choice than she is, he’ll give me a chance. If not, I have other plans for her set in motion to get rid of her, so either way, he will be mine. Once Eli paid for our meal, he tried to pass me off to someone else, but I had other plans. I walked with him to his house, and as we walked, I noticed that Christa was looking out the window. I stopped Eli right in front of it; Iwanted to try and convince him that I was the better choice and get him to invite me up. When that didn't work, I went on to plan B. As soon as he started walking away from me, I grabbed his hand and pulled him to me, causing him to turn around, and I went up on my tiptoes and kissed him. When he didn't do anything, I jumped up and wrapped my legs around him and started grinding on him, giving the human a show! If I couldn't have him tonight, I was going to make her jealous and show her that she means nothing to him. He pushed me off of him, and when he noticed she had been watching, he took off afterward. I stood there, smiling as my job was complete. Now, it's Monika’s turn. **Christa** I needed to get out of there. My head was spinning, and I couldn't grab my bearings; I needed space from everything that was going on and to figure out these feelings I was having for Eli. ”Christa, you can’t go.” ”Why the hell not?” ”Because it's not safe for you to be off of my territory where I can protect you.” ”Eli, you can’t keep me here. I don’t see why I would be in danger in town. I’m human. What could werewolves possibly want from me?” Eli sighs and brushes his hands through his hair, and turns towards the window with his hands on his hips as if he’s thinking hard about something. When he turns back to face me he swipes his face with his hand. “Christa, there’s something really important I need to tell you, and when I do, I need you to stay calm.” He pauses and looks at me for my reply. I nod my head, “I’m listening.” “I know you’ve been feeling extra anxious lately, and you haven’t been able to pinpoint it.” He says and I shake my head. “It’s not your anxiety. It’s mine. You’ve felt what I feel and vice versa. Everything you feel I feel as well, including the constant pain you feel.” My body freezes at his words. He can feel what I feel? He feels my chronic pain? But how? How is that possible? As I stand there in disbelief, he continues. “The reason we can feel each other is because we’re mates, Christa.” Mates? We’re mates? How can that be? That’s impossible! He’s lying! “No, that’s not possible. We can’t be mates!” “I can assure you we are mates. I’m not lying. I have no reason to. I know you can feel it too! When we touch, it tingles and sends warmth through us. You feel pulled to me. Your feelings are more intense towards me.” All I can do is stand there. Everything he says is true. I feel all of what he just said. I can feel my heart pounding; it feels like it’s going to beat out of my chest. I start to feel the walls closing in on me. It gets harder and harder to breathe. I start to see black spots in my vision, and my ears begin ringing. I can hear Eli calling out my name but it’s getting more and more faint until all of a sudden, everything just turns black. **Eli** After I tell Christa that we’re mates, she just stands there still. I can hear her heartbeat faster, and her eyes glaze over. I call out to her to get her attention, and before I know it, she passes out. I catch her before she hits the ground and pick her up and lay her in my bedroom. I grab a wet towel for her forehead and try to gently wake her up, but she doesn’t wake up. I start to get worried and start pacing the room, thinking if I should call the pack doctor, but then he’ll question why I have a human girl in my room. There’s no other choice; I have to call Pete. A few minutes later, Pete shows up in a panic. “What the f**k did you do to her?” He yells. “Relax, I didn’t do anything to harm her. I would never let anything happen to her.” “What happened.” “I told her the truth. She wanted to leave and go back home, and I told her that she couldn’t because she’s my mate.” Pete’s body went completely rigid. “You’re what?” “She’s my mate, Pete. That’s why I wanted her to stay with me so that I could protect her myself. I wanted to wait before telling anyone. I need to figure out how to get the pack to accept her as my mate.” “She can’t be your mate! Do you know how much danger you're putting her in?” “Do you think I don’t know that? I know she’s in danger because of me, but the moon goddess chose her for me for a reason!” Pete sighs before he sits down on the couch. “Does anyone else know about this?” “Only my sister Amanda. She knows not to say a word about this to anyone. I had her guarding Christa when she was alone when I found out she was my mate.” He calmly nods his head. “I brought you here because after I told her, she passed out. She hasn’t woken up in a while, and I’m worried.” “She just needs to rest. All of this is a lot of stress on her emotionally and physically.” “Why physically I don’t understand?” “I think that’s something she should explain to you. Since you’re her mate, you’ve probably been feeling her pain.” I nod my head that I have, in fact, been feeling her pain. “It’s a lot of stress, and I’m sure finding this out took its toll on her. Just give her time to rest, and she’ll wake up.” He gets up to start to leave, and I put my hand on his arm to stop him. “How is this possible? How am I mated to a human? I have never heard of a werewolf and a human who was mated before.” “I have.” “You have? How?” “Our parents. My mom was a werewolf who was mated to my dad, who was a human. The pack refused to accept their pairing and they ran off together and started their family without the pack. That’s why Chase and I are werewolves, and Christa is a human. We’re not sure why Christa didn’t become a werewolf, but it seems she has more of our dad’s genes than our mom.” Shocked, I sit back against the sofa. I can’t believe this. This had happened before. But why would the moon goddess pair me with Christa? Am I meant to protect her? How can I protect her with this Sigma werewolf out there hunting Alphas? There are so many unanswered questions. I mind linked Amanda and have her come over. I’m hoping that having Amanda here when Christa wakes up will help keep her calm. She seemed comfortable with Amanda when they hung out. When Amanda arrived, I explained to her everything that had happened. She was shocked, the same as I was when I found out about Christa’s parents. “So what are you going to do now?” Amanda asks. “I don’t know. We’ll just have to wait until she wakes up and see what she does.” ~ ~ ~ The next day Christa wakes up. I rush over to her side. “Are you ok? How do you feel?” ”What do you mean? I feel fine, but I had the weirdest dream. I dreamt that you told me I was your mate!” She looks over and realizes Amanda and Pete are in the room. Her eyebrows drawdown, confused, ”Wait… What are Mandy and Pete doing here?” Pete stood in the corner of the room with his arms crossed, Amanda sat in a chair next to the bed on her right, while I sat next to her on the bed on her left. ”Christa, that wasn't a dream. You are my mate, and Amanda and Pete are here for support. I know this is a lot for you to take in.” ”Wait… Mandy… as in Amanda... is your sister?” ”Yes.” I reply. She looks over to Amanda. ”I don’t understand? Why didn't you tell me Eli is your brother.” Amanda sighs. ”I’m sorry, I didn't tell you before. I just didn't want you to avoid me because I was his sister.” ”Did you actually want to hang out with me, or did Eli make you?” ”Eli didn't make me do anything. I wanted to get to know you! Especially because you're part of the family now?” Christa frowned in confusion at what Amanda just told her. ”Family?” ”Yeah, you're his mate! That makes you my sister in law!” ”Pete, did you know about this the whole time?” ”No, I only found out about this yesterday evening.” He scowls. ”Does anyone else know that we're mates?” She asks, concern apparent on her face. ”No, Christa, it's really important we keep this to ourselves for now. Just you being my mate puts you in danger. You being a human, you're even more at risk.” She quietly thinks about my words and nods her head. **Christa** Finding out that I was Eli’s mate threw me for a loop. Ever since I met him, I was drawn to him, and my emotions went haywire when I was with him. Whenever he touched me it felt amazing his skin on mine would send sparks through me and I would wish he was mine, but I never thought he could actually be my mate. But now, what do we do? ”What do we do now since I’m your mate?” ”Right now we keep doing what we’ve been doing until I can find a way to get my pack to accept you as my mate?” I gulp, realizing that may be an impossible task as werewolves don’t think highly of humans. ”And what if they don't?” I ask. ”Don’t worry; we will figure it out.”
