Christa POV
It’s been a week since I have found out that Eli is my mate. Since that time, I have gotten to spend some time getting to know Eli better. We agreed we would take things slow though. I’ve never been in a relationship before, let alone done other things with a guy, so he told me that he would wait for whenever I am ready to take the next step with him. When he has to go work I find myself thinking about him constantly, and I miss him even though he is usually only gone for a few hours.
He caught me up on what is going on and why I am in danger. Apparently, there is a Sigma werewolf, whatever that is, out there killing other Alphas, and he has rogue wolves doing his bidding, and they are the ones that put Chase in a coma. If they can do that to my brother, the strongest guy I’ve ever known, it makes me extremely worried for Eli. We just found each other, and I don’t want to lose him. So I’ve decided to help Eli in his search for information about this Sigma even if he doesn’t know it yet. I don’t want to tell him my plans in case he tries to stop me. I call Mandy and have her meet me at Eli’s place. When she arrives, I explain to her my plan.
“No, no way! Eli would kill me if he found out I took you out of our territory!”
“Please, you’ll be with me, and you’re his best warrior. If anything happens, you can protect me! I need to do something to help and I’m good at researching! I need to help in some way!” I say with the sweetest puppy dog eyes I can manage.
She puts her hand on her hips and scowls at me. I can’t help but crack up in laughter.
“What’s so funny?”
“You look just like Eli when you scowl!” I laugh even harder at her reaction to my statement! Her mouth is hanging open, and then her face turns sour.
“I do not! Eli and I are nothing alike!”
“Mmmhmm, you keep telling yourself that.”
She runs her hands through her hair, thinking about my proposition.
“Fine, on one condition.”
“Sure, name it.”
“You’re paying for lunch.”
“Deal!” I squeal, finally getting out of Eli’s house and doing something useful.
We get to the Library 10 min later, and I see Susan.
“Hi, Susan. How are you?”
“I’m good dear, how are you doing? I heard that your brother is in a coma, poor thing.”
“We’re hanging in there. I thought I would come in and do some research.”
“Sure, honey, you go right on ahead. It’s so good seeing you.”
“Thanks Susan.”
The first thing I do is get onto the computer and search for a couple of books my mom had told me about a long time ago. Once I find them in the system, Mandy and I start pulling them off the shelves and we find a small area in the corner of the library. There are two comfy chairs and a small table between them. We set our books on the table. There are so many, and with the table being small, some of them fall off.
Once we get situated we start going through each book one by one. After hours of going through each book meticulously, I finally found something.
“Hey Mandy, look at this.” She pulls her seat closer to look over my shoulder at the page I am pointing to, “It says here that the Sigma werewolf is a legend. It says that the Sigma werewolf gets its strength by killing other Alpha’s. The more Alphas he kills the greater his powers become and they actually gain the power of the Alphas they kill. The only time you can tell a Sigma werewolf from a regular werewolf is that when they shift, they have red eyes.” I read. I look up from the book with my eyes wide open with shock. I look at Mandy, and she has the same expression.
“Are you sure that is what we’re up against?” I ask, hoping that maybe the information they received is wrong, “It says here that it’s just a legend and never in werewolf history has one ever existed!”
“I don’t know, but we need to tell Eli what we’ve just found. You can buy me lunch another time. We need to find Eli now!” Mandy says urgently as she begins gathering our belongings. The way she’s acting has me even more worried.
**Eli**
I decided to get home early to surprise Christa and take her out for dinner. When I arrived home, I called out to her, but there was no answer. I head to the bedroom and call her name again. Still nothing. I begin to start panicking, thinking the worst has happened. Maybe my father found out about her and threw her in the dungeons. Or maybe she couldn’t take all of the new information she’s received and ran away.
I ran to the room to see if her stuff was still there and it was. I run both my hands through my hair, panicking, pacing in the bedroom when I hear the door unlock. I raced to the door, and there she was, standing before me as beautiful as ever. I ran over and took her in my arms and buried my face in the crook of her neck, smelling her scent to help me calm down. Once I calmed, I pulled her away arm's length from myself, holding onto her shoulders.
“Where have you been? I was worried sick something awful happened to you!” I brought her into a hug again, keeping her close to me. I didn’t want to let her go.
“I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to worry you. I asked if Mandy could take me to the library.” I looked up noticing Mandy for the first time since they got back with a scowl on my face. Mandy just smirked.
“Hey to you too big, bro!”
“You took her off Opal Moon territory without telling me first?” I yelled. She shrugged her shoulders.
“It’s no big deal. I brought her home safe and sound, didn’t I?”
“That’s not the point! Amanda, you should know better than that! Do you realize the danger you put her in?”
“And you, what do you think you were doing leaving like that after knowing that your life is in jeopardy?”
**Christa**
I look down at my hands, all of a sudden shy from not being used to having his anger directed at me.
“It’s not Amanda’s fault.” I whisper, “I did it for a reason though, I thought you wouldn’t let me go to the library, so I asked Mandy if she could take me. I needed to do something to help you find out more about this Sigma wolf. And I did… I found out some things that you should probably hear.”
He takes my hand and leads me over to the living room couch that sits directly across from the window. Mandy sits down on a loveseat that’s directly across from the couch. Once we’re all seated, he lets out a sigh.
“It’s ok, sweetness. I’m not angry with you. You just had me really worried. Just next time, please tell me what you’re doing and where you’re going. I would have just had more security with you.” He says, leaning in, gently kisses me on my lips; I Feel my lips tingle and a shiver race down my spine. He sighs, “Tell me what you found out.”
I nod my head and take a deep breath and blow it out.
“I found out that Sigmas will kill Alphas to gain their strength so the more they kill, the stronger they get but not only that... they also gain the power of the Alpha that they kill, and the only way to tell a Sigma wolf is when they shift, their eyes are red.” I say quickly without taking a breath, so after I’ve finished, I suck in a breath and blow it back out. I add, “But it said that they are only legends created by Lycaon by manipulating their genetics but destroyed them because of their blood lust for power and dominion over every living creature that exists, but it’s just a story they’ve never actually existed, right? Maybe the information you received is incorrect?”
Eli slowly gets up from the couch and walks toward the window. He puts one hand on his hip and runs his other hand through his raven black hair. I can feel his emotions rolling off of him.
“Eli, they don’t exist, right?” He turns his head to glance at me but doesn’t answer.
I look at Mandy and she has the same concerned look on her face as well.
“It’s like the legend of unicorns people write about them as though they were real but they don’t actually exist!” I say, trying to convince them and myself. Mandy looks at me.
“Actually.”
“Don’t tell me that they actually exist?” She smiles and nods her head, ”they do exist but they are actually quite dangerous. You don’t want to go near one unless you want to get stabbed with the horn and become their next meal.” I look at her with wide, unblinking eyes, shocked. I shake my head.
“Vampires?” She nods her head again.
“Only they prefer Lamia. If you called them a vampire, it’s an insult to them, and they won’t hesitate to kill you on the spot!”
I simply just sat there gaping at her.
“Christa, you better close your mouth before you catch flies.” I immediately snap my mouth shut.
I shake my head unable to come to terms with the fact that everything I have known as true is actually false. I went to a school with only humans, so I only knew about supernatural beings because of my mom and brothers, but I always thought it was only werewolves that existed. Come to find out that the myths we were told about aren’t actually myths at all. I look up at Eli.
“If this Sigma is out there, what are we going to do?”
Eli walks back to me and sits down on the couch. All of a sudden, he has a blank stare, and his eyes cloud over. I look at Mandy, becoming panicked at what’s happening.
”What’s going on with him? Is he ok?”
”Relax, he's fine. He's mind linking his beta and gamma.”
I look at her confused, ”what’s mind linking?” I ask.
”It’s where he can connect with his pack members directly through to their minds. He can connect with either one pack member or multiple, and we can connect with him.”
After all this time living with my two werewolf brothers, I never knew they could do this! Did they have secret conversations with me in the room without me ever knowing? Ooh, we are going to have a conversation about that later! I think to myself crossing my arms. After Mandy explains what mind linking is to me, Eli finishes his conversation and is now focused back on me. He takes my hand and gives me a gentle kiss on my forehead.
He looks up at Mandy. ”I notified Ethan and Seth. I have quadrupled our security on the borders, and no one comes into this territory without my knowing about it. I look at him with fear in my eyes.
”He’s real, isn’t he?”
”It’s going to be ok, sweetness. I promise nothing is going to happen to me or you. I won’t let it.” He looks at me with so much love and adoration, and he has so much confidence in his eyes that I can’t help but believe what he says.
After everything that has happened today, I am exhausted. I know that Eli can feel my exhaustion because he mind links Mandy, and she heads out for the night, and Eli leads me to bed. He goes into my drawer and comes back to me with my pajamas in his hands.
”Lift your arms, sweetheart.” I look at him with a frown.
”What are you doing?” I whisper.
”I’m undressing you.”
”I can undress myself.” I gulp all of a sudden shy. He smirks.
”I know, sweetness. Let me help, please.” He pleads while kissing me down my jaw to my neck.
I accidentally let out a moan and quickly put my hand over my mouth. Did that just come out of my mouth? Eli chuckles at my reaction, and I can feel his vibration across my collarbone. I can feel his hot breath against my cheek as he takes the hem of my shirt and slowly raises it over my head. Once my shirt is off he tosses it to the side, and he groans at the sight that he sees. I’m not wearing a bra. I blush so hard that I feel like my face will catch on fire.
”Oh, sweetness, what are you trying to do to me?” He moans out.
He puts his hands on my hips and kisses my neck, and slowly moves from my collarbone down to my chest. He lightly kisses in between my breasts and moves over to my right n****e. He takes his hand and begins to massage my left breast; then, he moves his mouth to my left n****e. His tongue moves in small slow circles around my rigid bud and then moves to the other one to show it the same attention. I moan out his name, not really sure if I want him to stop or keep going. I’ve never had a man touch me like this before, and it feels so good. Heat begins to shoot down into my core making me ache in a way I have never ached before.
Eli starts moving down and gives butterfly kisses on my stomach until he reaches my jeans, and he continues to unbutton my pants. He pulls them down and to keep my balance so I can step out of them, I put my hands on his shoulders. He stands up and grabs my nightgown, which is a soft green silk gown with flower patterns; the top has thin spaghetti straps, there is a band that wraps around my middle under my breast that is white and sheer, the bottom hem that stops above my knees has white lace. The gown is perfectly form-fitting. As Eli brings the gown over my head, it gently glides over my skin, the soft, smooth silk gently falling down the rest of the way causes goosebumps to form over my skin. My n*****s stand erect, and he can see them through the gown. He stops what he's doing for a moment and closes his eyes and he groans.
”Is there something wrong?” He stands there stiff and unmoving.
When he opens his eyes, they are no longer blue but gold. I noticed that his whole demeanor has changed. He just stood there, his eyes switching between blue and gold and his face looked pained. It was starting to scare me.
”Eli?... Eli?... Are you ok?”
