Chapter 19

Eli POV

The day after we get Christa set up in the pack hospital, I go over everything that has happened to Christa with my pack doctor. I had to tell him that she’s my mate, so he understood the importance of her. While his initial reaction was surprising, he quickly accepted her as one of our own. That was a huge relief for me after everything else I have had to deal with. Since the accident, she still hasn’t woken up, and it has me extremely worried something worse could be going on that hasn’t been found yet. Amanda has been by her side the entire time. While I’ve been taking care of my mate my Beta and Gamma have been helping with the business side of the pack and capturing more rogues and questioning their knowledge of this Sigma wolf; all of them so far have denied knowing who he is.

As I sit next to Christa, I get a mind link from my Beta telling me I’m needed in the meeting room. It's difficult for me to leave Christa’s side, but I force myself, reminding myself that she is in good hands. I head over to the meeting room to find Evan and Seth, my Beta and Gamma, sitting at the table with Alpha Michael and my father. I immediately know what this is all about. I sit at the table to join them. Seconds after sitting down, my father starts.

”Eli, we know that with everything that has been going on with this new werewolf, there has been a lot of stress put on you.” He looks at me and sighs, ”So, to take that stress off of you, we have decided the best thing to do is to make Eliza your Luna today, so she can help take some of the load off of you and help take care of the pack's needs so you can focus on taking out this Sigma.”

As soon as he mentions Eliza, she walks into the board room with a smirk on her face.

I clench my fists to control an outburst, ”I’ve already told you before Eliza will never become my Luna!” I say while clenching my teeth.

”Son, I don't understand why you don’t want to take this beautiful woman as your Luna?”

”BECAUSE!” I slam my fists down on the table, and everyone flinches around me. I take a deep breath, ”I already have my Luna.” Everyone around the table gasps. Eliza has a look of confusion on her face.

”What are you talking about, son?” He questions with his eyebrows turned down with a deep frown making him look even older than he was.

”I have already found my Luna! My true mate.” I say, looking directly at Eliza.” I immediately see the hatred she has for Christa in her eyes.

”But when? Why didn't you tell me this? Where and who is our future Luna?”

”Her name is Christa.” Eliza cuts in, answering my father's questions before I can. ”I’m assuming he didn't want to tell you because she's human.” The entire room goes quiet; you could hear a pin drop from a mile away.

”WHAT… Is this true, Eli? You're mated to a human? H- how… Can this be? That's impossible!” He begins rambling, pacing back and forth in the boardroom. He stops in his tracks and looks at me.

”You have to reject her! You reject her right now!” He yells out.

”No.”

”No? Boy, what do you mean… No? Where do you think you…” I immediately cut him off.

”NO, where do you get off thinking you can undermine every decision I make for this pack! Don’t think I don’t know what you're doing behind my back! Ever since I have taken over as Alpha, you can’t stand to see me be a more successful leader than you ever were. So you do everything you can to sabotage my leadership. You do everything you can to make me seem weak to other Alpha’s so that they continue to listen to you. That stops right this very moment. If you don't like how I run this pack, you can leave right now.” My father slams his fist into the wall, anger spread across his features, and he storms out of the room.

Alpha Michael looks right at me, ”you are making a grave mistake, young man. You will be weak with a human. With my daughter at your side, you will be stronger than ever before... I’ll give you time to think it through.” He says and takes Eliza with him.

Ethan and Seth are still sitting at the table in shock at the news I just told. I give out a frustrated sigh.

”Look… I’m sorry I didn't tell you guys.”

”It’s cool, dude; we know you have your reasons.” Ethan replies.

”Yeah, man, we’re just a little disappointed you felt you couldn't trust us with this secret.” Seth adds. I sigh, running my hand over my face.

”So… is she hot?” Seth asks.

I immediately bark out a much needed laugh at that question.

”No, she's not hot.” His eyebrows go up in surprise at that statement. ”She’s gorgeous. She's the most beautiful woman I have ever seen.”

”Dude, we seriously have to meet her!” Seth claps me on the shoulders.

”Well, it's not going to be anytime soon.”

”Why? You afraid we’re going to try and steal her away?” Ethan laughs joking around.

”No… because she was in a serious car accident a couple of days ago, and she's lying in the pack hospital unconscious still.” Their smiles immediately turn into frowns.

”Oh man, is she going to recover? Ethan asks.

”I’m going to do everything in my power to give her the best chance to.”

”So what are you going to do now? You know your father isn’t going to allow a human to become Luna for this pack. He's determined you take Eliza as your mate.” Seth questions.

”Well, now that they know I’m going to announce to the pack that I’ve found my mate. And hope that most of them will accept her as their Luna.”

”And if she doesn't recover?” Ethan, always the logical one, asks me.

”I don’t know. But I plan on doing everything for her to make sure she does recover.”

After the meeting, I go back to the hospital room to see how Christa is doing.

**Eliza**

I pace around my room, dialing Monika’s number, but I keep getting her voicemail!

”Ugh, that b***h! Why won't she answer? I thought that w***e was supposed to be dead!”

Finally, on the fifth time of trying to call her, she picks up her phone.

”What the f**k happened? I thought Christa was dead?”

”Ugh, don’t worry. With her injuries, there is no way she will survive long.”

”WHAT DO YOU MEAN? SHE WAS SUPPOSED TO DIE ON IMPACT!” I scream and quickly lowered my voice hoping no one heard my outburst. ”How the hell did she even survive. Now she has a chance to survive!”

”Hun, even if she does survive, she's paralyzed now, and she hasn’t woken up since the accident. If she does miraculously survive, she would never be fit to be Luna.” Monika says confidently. ”He will have no choice but to take YOU as his luna!” I scoff at that.

”You’d better be right!” I say as I hang up. I let out a deep sigh.

I hear a knock on my door. I quickly ask who it is before I open it.

”Hey, it's me, snookums, open the door.”

I quickly open the door and find Eli’s dad. He sneaks into my room, unseen.

”What are you doing here? You shouldn’t be here right now.” I say as he starts kissing my neck.

”I needed to see you for a couple of reasons.” He says as he yanks back my hair to give him more access to my neck.

”Why didn't you tell me about this, Christa? Did you know she was his mate?”

I moan out as he kisses me, ”I may have overheard him say something about her being his mate.” I say as he continues to kiss further down my chest.

”And why did you not tell me about this little… situation?” He asks as he bites down on my breast hard, making me gasp.

”I didn't say anything because I had the situation handled.” He stops kissing me and looks up at me.

”What do you mean handled?”

I walk away into the kitchen and pull out a couple of wine glasses.

”Well if you must know…” I say as I pour red wine into our glasses, ”I set her up to get into a bad accident…” I walk over to him with the glasses and sit on the couch next to him, ”unfortunately she didn't die on impact, but it did make sure she would never be fit for Luna, even though she's human. Now, her being paralyzed, and no one is sure she’ll ever wake up, Eli will have no choice but to choose me as his Luna!” I giggle, feeling proud of myself.

”And you thought this up all by yourself?”

”I may have had some help!” I smirk as I take a sip of my wine.

”And who is this person who helped you?” He asks as he sets down his glass of wine and continues kissing me.

”That’s only for me to know. I’ve been sworn to secrecy.”

”Mmm.” He grunts out, displeased with my answer.

”Don’t worry our plan is still set and I will still become Luna!”

”This Christa better not ruin our plans. Otherwise, I'll have to kill her myself, and I don't want to have to do that.”

”Don’t worry. Leave it all to me. I’ll take care of our problem no matter what!”

”Good… Now, where were we? Oh, yes… I need my little snookums right now! Come to daddy.”
