Eli POV
As I’m having lunch with Christa I hear the door open and I get a strong whiff of Eliza’s perfume. I can hear her heels click on the floor as she walks over to us.
”Eli darling, what a surprise to see you here! And who might this be?”
”Eliza, what are you doing here?”
”Oh, I just came for lunch.”
I had no intention of introducing them. I could see the disdain in her eyes for Christa just by me sitting and having lunch with her. She took it upon herself to introduce herself.
”Well, if my dear Eli won’t introduce us, I’ll just have to introduce myself; I'm Eliza Eli’s fiance. I didn't know he had you like as a friend, we should totally get together and do some female bonding time, and I can get to know you. I can't believe he didn't mention you to me!
I froze on the spot with what she had just said to Christa, my blood beginning to boil. I stood up and grabbed Eliza’s arm, and dragged her with me.
”Eliza, I need a word with you! Please excuse us; I’ll only be a moment.”
“Eliza is trying to ruin everything with our mate! Get rid of her before I take over your body and rip her throat out here and now!” Simon growls in my mind,
“What do you think I’m trying to do?”
“If she messes up things with mate, I’m going to kill her!” My eyes are switching from gold to blue, and I can feel Simon trying to take over. I need to get rid of her fast!
Once we are out of hearing distance outside of the cafe I let loose on Eliza.
“What do you think you're doing?”
”Me? Why are you here with a human? Like seriously? What in the world would you need with one of those?”
”She is of no concern to you. Why would you introduce yourself as my fiance?”
”Come on now, darling, ” she twists her hair around in her finger, pretending to be ditsy; I can see right through her facade, ”you and I both know we’ll be together soon. Especially, since you haven't found your mate. You just need to accept that we’ll be mated together, and I will become your Luna. You shouldn’t keep fighting it, daddy always gives me what I want and I want you! The sooner you come to terms with that the better!”
She takes her hand and pats my chest, and I immediately grab her wrist, moving it away from me.
”Well, I need to go now, I have places to be. Tata darling. See you at home tonight.”
She quickly gives me a kiss on the cheek before I could stop her.
I sigh and shake my head; this isn’t going to look very good for me. How the am I supposed to explain this to her? As I walk back into the cafe, I see her getting up to leave. I bore into her, willing her not to move a muscle.
”Where do you think you're going?”
**Christa**
He came back in, and his eyes bore into me with an intensity that made me freeze in my spot. I sat back down into the booth I was about to get up from.
”I didn't realize you were engaged?”
”I’m not.”
”Really? Because it sure didn't seem that way to me!” I point out. He lets out a sigh and shakes his head.
”My father and her father are trying to arrange for us to be mated. But I want to find my chosen mate. Not a mate that’s been arranged for me that I will never love or even like. Unfortunately, she has it in her head that we will be together but she's delusional.”
”I see.” I feel slightly better but not much.
”Why don’t you want to mate with her? I mean look at her, she's gorgeous!”
”She’s just not the one for me.”
As he says this he looks me right in the eyes and takes my hands. I immediately feel the tingles and my whole body warms.
”Christa, I really like you, and I would love to see you again. Please tell me you feel the same?”
”Eli, I don't know? I really like you, I do, but I’m not sure this is a good idea.”
”Well, if you won’t say yes today, I’ll come to the library every day and ask until you do!” He gives me a sly smile when he says this and it makes me giggle. I sigh and shake my head and begin to get up from my booth.
”I should get going. I don't want to be late.”
”Let me walk you back.”
We silently walk back together to the library and it's a really comfortable silence with him. Once we get in front of the library, he takes my hand, igniting the tingles and warmth once again.
”Until tomorrow.”
He brings my hand up to his mouth and kisses the back of my hand. The warmth and softness of his lips on the back of my hand did something to me. The tingles and warmth got even stronger, so I had to pull my hand away, and I blushed so terribly that I was embarrassed and ended up blushing even more. I quickly turned away from him, waving my hand.
”Bye Eli.”
I went back to work. For the rest of the day, I couldn't take my mind off of him!
**Eli**
I got home from lunch with Christa. I was worried about her well being now that Eliza has seen her with me. I don't know what she's capable of, but I’m worried about Eliza doing something out of spite, so I call my sister Amanda into my room.
”Hey Bro, what’s up?”
”I need you to do me a favor.”
”Sure, what is it?”
”I need you to keep an eye out on Christa. I want you to befriend her. Here's a picture of her; she works at the library.”
“Oh, sweet! I’ve always wanted to be friends with a human! Now I actually have a reason! But why the interest in a human all of a sudden? I thought you didn’t like them?”
”Promise me you will keep this between you and me? No one else can know about it!”
”Cross my heart.”
”Christa is my mate!”
Amanda lets out a loud gasp.
”SHE’S WHAT!”
”Ssshhhhh keep it down!” She whispers,
”Oh, sorry! How the heck do you have a human as your mate? That's unheard of!”
”I don’t know. I’m still trying to figure this all out!”
”Eeeek, I’m going to have a sister in law! And a human one at that! I’m so excited!”
Amanda squeals while jumping up and down on my bed. I chuckle at her antics. But she stops all of a sudden as if something just hit her.
”We’ve got a big problem here, bro! I might be accepting of humans but good luck getting the pack to accept her! This could turn out really bad!”
”That’s why I need time! I need to keep protection on her, and you're the only one I trust! Until I can figure out why the Moon Goddess decided for her to be my mate and to see her more often to build our connection and make it stronger, I need to keep her safe!”
**Eliza**
I’m walking back to my room when I hear Eli and Amanda talking so I quietly sneak up to his door and put my ear on it to listen to what they are talking about.
”Promise me you will keep this between me and you? No one else can know about it!”
”Cross my heart.”
”Christa is my mate!”
Amanda lets out a loud gasp.
”SHE’S WHAT!”
”Ssshhhhh keep it down!” She whispers,
”Oh, sorry! How the heck do you have a human as your mate? That's unheard of!”
”I don’t know. I’m still trying to figure this all out!”
I let out a loud gasp and immediately put my hand over my mouth to cover it and quickly move away from the door, hoping that they didn't hear me, and run back into my room.
No, no, no, no, no, this can’t be happening! He can’t have a human mate. There is no way! This can’t be happening! Eli is supposed to be my mate! I will NOT let that disgusting little human steal my mate away from me! I will not allow it to happen. I need to come up with a plan to get rid of her!
First, I’ll have to find out who she is and who she knows around here. I need to find out everything I can about her! She will not ruin my plan to have Eli as my mate and my chance to become Luna and everything I’ve ever wanted! She has to die!
