Two nights before Heather and Kyle were to leave for the Portland airport, Kathryn wrote up an extensive list of instructions for them and taped their itinerary to the refrigerator.
Kathryn found the name and phone number of the nearest hospital in every town they were visiting and added that info to the list of herbal remedy instructions. She also added Dr. Chattel’s phone number and Riverbend’s urgent care number, with the country codes. That way Kyle could call from out of the country if he needed to.
Kathryn still disliked using the computer but had done the Google searches and found everything she’d looked for.
It was just a magic metal box with a card catalog inside.
Kind of like Mary Poppins’s bag.
The Dewey decimal system wasn’t needed anymore, that was for sure.
