Heather 15 Early morning light shone through the windows of the Rose City Inn. Heather heard her mother rummaging around at the sink, opening little packets of things. The coffeemaker gurgled. Heather sighed and stretched. Her sleep had not refreshed her. “Darling?” Kathryn whispered upon approaching the bed. Heather opened her eyes and rolled over to see her mother with a mug in hand. A tea tag fluttered in the breeze of Kathryn’s movement. She offered the beverage to Heather. Heather cleared her throat and managed to prop herself up on pillows before accepting the warmth and aroma. “I think this should be the other way around. Don’t you?” Heather said. “Why am I so tired?” “You had all the stress of performing. You’ve worked really hard for this. I just watched.” Kathryn winked at
