The next morning, after breakfast, Helen and Kathryn went to Thom McVay’s place to pick up some produce for the inn. Kathryn was itching to get back on farmland and talk to a fellow farmer. Kyle stayed with Heather. They were going to take a walk around the neighborhood to get some fresh air, and Heather would wear her new wool cap. The chemotherapy hadn’t taken all of her hair yet, but large chunks of it were gone. Perhaps Heather was right to not shave it off. With the cap on, it wasn’t immediately obvious that her remaining shanks were half gone and lackluster.
