CHARACTERS Grace - Mother Anita - Daughter Alex - Anita's lover Samuel - Alex father Lawrence- The doctor DRAMA SCENE 1) Scene opens in a city, a beautiful modern house is shown and woman , who appears to be the mother is by the dinning table arranging the plates, a small girl comes along holding spoons in her hands, drops it and seats down as her mother serves her food while discussing) Grace: How about school, any news or something I should know of? Anita: No mother, there's nothing you should know Grace- You always told me all everything that happened back then, what happened to us Anita - (Looks at her disgustedly and laughs ) I stopped telling you anything, when I discovered you always have a high blood pressure whenever I told you something Grace-( Shocked) Are you still seeing him ( seats) Anita- The last time I checked you said I should not bring him up again, and i haven't! you never said I should not see him Grace- ( Angry) What is wrong with you, i try so much to talk to you and tell you what to do as a mother, where have I gone wrong, his not a good boy, his family background is not good Why don't you listen Anita- I do listen mum, I do listen to you but I follow my heart. Grace- Heart? Anita-(Drops her spoon) I came here to eat, and now it has turned to a lecture room ,(stands up) I guess it is time I leave Grace - Take a step from here and see what I will do to you (stands up) Anita- (Stands going, suddenly grace dives and holds her by the hand, struggling with her) Anita- Let me be, (tries to push off her hand) Grace- You don't follow your heart, you listen to me Anita-(still struggling to get away grace hands from hers) maybe if you followed yours, I would have known my dad (This statement weakens grace and she lets go of Anita, Anita runs upstairs Grace shouts after her ) Grace- Then follow your heart, wherever it leads you to, I do not care anymore (leans by the stairs and cries) Curtains
