16 The wedding was a wonderful affair and went off without a hitch. Angela was a pretty woman and looked stunning in her simple but elegant wedding dress. Mark stood nervously next to me as her father walked her down the aisle of the large church. It was packed to capacity, as Angela’s family were very well known in the small town. After a brief ceremony, Mark and Angela exchanged vows and rings and he kissed his bride. After signing the register, they exited the church between the honor-guard of officers from Mark’s unit. He was wearing his ceremonial uniform complete with medals and looked quite dashing. Although I could have worn my uniform as a member of the reserves, I’d opted to go with a tuxedo instead.
