19 I ordered another whiskey from the barman and looked around the dingy room. I was in a dive-bar just off Boulder Highway, on the east side of town. After Kim had left, I’d explained to Harold what had happened and asked him to pack her stuff. Then I’d headed downstairs, jumped in my car and just started driving. I had noticed the bar and pulled in, deciding that alcohol was just what I needed to dull the pain. Being a holiday, the place was packed. Most of the patrons were rough-looking biker dudes, along with quite a few equally rough-looking biker chicks. One of the bikers came up to the bar and ordered a beer.
