28 Mark and I shielded our eyes from the harsh African sun as we watched the chartered Boeing 757 make a somewhat bumpy landing at Gulu airfield in Northern Uganda. On board were our troops, medical team and half our intelligence-gathering unit. The other half, comprised mostly of former CIA and NSA agents, had remained in Washington. They would use their contacts there to gather whatever information they could to assist our efforts. Major Kafeero of the Ugandan Army joined us as the large aircraft taxied to a halt in front of the area assigned to us.
